History

Established in 2003.

Surplus Service was established with the goal to redefine the concept of recycling and prioritize the Upcycling efficiency of reuse. We take what Clients don’t want and provides sustainability solutions focusing on repair and reuse for e-​waste, depleted assets and returned goods to meet regulatory requirements, reduce costs and liabilities.

UpcyclIT™ reduces waste providing options for reuse which generally do not go into the waste stream contributing to waste, enabling users to highlight their zero waste reduction and green sustainability initiates to management and clients.

Our services include cradle to grave Asset Management, Reverse Logistics, Assured Destruction, Harvesting & Data Destruction and we don’t ship e-​waste overseas. Our infrastructure enables strict oversight and methodology around regulatory reporting and data cyber security requirements.

We have three divisions operating in three primary markets: Retail Returns, Corporate e-​Waste and Medical.

Meet the Manager

Lou R.

Manager

Our President, Lou has been an industrial, electronics, marketing, medical and eco-​industry expert for over 20 years. His prior executive experience includes managing Sanmina’s $ 1 billion medical P&L with 13 global FDA facilities for contract manufacturing, as VP for WW Sales and Marketing. Additionally, Lou received most of his management expertise and training at General Electric serving in various positions of increasing responsibly managing multimillion dollar business strategy for equipment, service and marketing.

Lou does many community, volunteer initiatives with company and employees including a few below: Elected to Santa Clara County Recycle Waste Reduction Commission, is on the Source Committee. For Silicon Valley Leadership Group, sits on Education, Government, Environmental and Healthcare Committees. Champions «Young Men’s Leadership Summit» and «Turning Red Tape into Red Carpet». He sponsors the Eagle Scout Sustainability Merit Badge and does fundraising.
