The Animal Nanny

I have been using the Animal Nanny for several years and have always been completely satisfied. My pet can stay home in a familiar place while being well cared for. In addition to caring for my pet, the Animal Nanny also brings the mail in, waters plants, whatever is needed. The Animal Nanny posts pictures of my pet on Facebook so I can check in. At the end of the service, I get a personal, handwritten note from the Nanny about how it went.
I never have to worry when I am out of town. Last year (2014) while half way around the world, the Animal Nanny was instrumental in saving my cat’s life. My cat fell ill and had to go to the emergency vet clinic for several days. Marna, the owner of the Animal Nanny, kept in contact throughout the entire process. Although there was an 8 hour time difference, Marna responded to my calls & emails promptly. Marna was also a liaison between me and my DVM, and when I was not in reach, handled communications with my DVM in my place. This was critical as I was in an area with intermittent cell phone and WIFI access.
I know my pet is in good hands with the Animal Nanny. There is no other pet service like this in the San Francisco Bay Area!

Had to go out of town for a few days and called the Animal Nanny.
Not our first time using their service, because our first experience was so good. Our cat was able to stay home in his familiar place, and was well cared-​for. We really appreciated that they took time first to meet with us (including the kitty, of course) and must say the service was excellent.
Newspapers and mail were brought in, and we returned to a happy cat and a really nice letter from our cat’s nanny to let us know how everything went.
We’re very pleased with the service and though we hate to leave our cat, we know he’s in good hands with the Animal Nanny if we do have to go out of town. We’ve used their services twice now with excellent service from them, and we’ll happily call them next time as well.

I’ve been using The Animal Nanny for over a year now and they’ve always been very professional and have done a wonderful job. My dog loves his nanny! I have my dog set up for walks almost daily and have never had any real issues. My schedule is sometimes very hectic and they have always accommodated my last minute requests with no hassles. My dog is my baby and I can tell his nanny knows that and has really gotten to know him and his needs over time. I come home to a little note letting me know how he was and the things they did that day. Great service!

We used the Animal Nanny in San Francisco for one awful month.
We have three dogs and one of them is an English Bulldog with special needs. She has Spina Bifida and is very shy about meeting new people.
I thought it was best that she met and developed a relationship with the dog walker first, but the woman that runs the Animal Nanny (Marna) assured me that it made no difference to introduce the dog to the dogwalker. She was so rude and condescending. Sure enough, our little English Bulldog didnt want to come out of her kennel for the new dogwalker (someone she had never met) and the dogwalker had to drag her out of her kennel and force her on a walk. I got frantic phone calls at work and came home to a very upset puppy. We tried to undo the damage but to no avail, our dog was now terrified of the dog walker. Keep in mind that we have used dogwalkers in the past WITH NO PROBLEM. So we canceled our service and Marna informed me that our dog «had major problems.»
When I asked for my key back things took a turn for the worse. I would have happily picked it up but Marna informed me the key would arrive in a few days. THEY SENT THE KEY IN REGULAR US MAIL IN A BASIC ENVELOPE WITH A WINDOW on the envelope. Not surprisingly the key NEVER ARRIVED. So an envelope with our address on it is floating around somewhere with a house key inside. THEY DID NOT USE TRACKING NUMBER or give any thought to the safety of my home. The post office has confirmed that they have no record of the envelope and that it is absurd to send someone’s house key in such a careless fashion. WHen I called The Animal Nanny they told me tough luck and that they would not cover any of the costs to get my locks changed. This a horrible business and would not recommend them to anyone.

We have used the Animal Nanny for over 3 years and we’re heartbroken that we’re moving out of Fremont and out of their service area! I don’t understand some of the negative reviews because I think the Animal Nanny is AWESOME. I honestly can’t imagine a better, more organized, more professional, compassionate pet-​sitting/​dog-​walking service.
Every time we were planning a trip, we could register online and receive an instant email confirmation. Shortly before service was scheduled to begin, we’d receive a confirmation email. We were able to pay by credit card if we chose to, and to correspond with Marna by email and receive almost instantaneous response. This is a pet-​sitting service for the modern era! This company is incredibly organized and reliable.
Beyond the convenience factor, our pets simply loved the nannies who visited our home. The nannies would leave personal notes about how it went with the pets (describing their little eccentricies – you could TELL they got to know our pets!). They would water our plants, bring in our mail, and take great care of our babies. If there were any problems or questions, they communicated with us by phone. It was a highly personalized and quality service.
I can’t recommend them enough, and just hope they expand their business someday to reach our new neighborhood!

We have been using the Animal Nanny for over 5 years. They have been there for us every time we need them without exception. I am not sure why some people have had difficulties with them but our experience has been one of great care towards our pets and great customer service and trustworthiness. We love the personal notes with a rundown of our pets antics and the facebook pics. We also love that we can leave point by point directions on what we need done, such as pet medication schedules, special pet needs, etc. They have also been great at other than our pet sitting needs, like bring in the mail, taking out and bringing in the trashcans for refuse collection, etc. It’s those personal and dependable touches that makes this a great service.
I remember the first time it was tough to trust someone with our beloved pets and our house, but over time The Animal Nanny has become an integral part of our going away routine. We can enjoy our time away without worrying about our pets or our home.

We have been using the Animal Nanny for two years now and while it is strange to give your key to someone you don’t really know, we’ve never had a problem. Our cats are happy that they don’t have to leave home and we don’t worry that they aren’t being taken care of.
We had a family emergency last year and had to call the service out of the blue to set up an indefinite amount of cat-​sitting. They were extremely accommodating and sympathetic. Our cat sitter even went to buy food and didn’t charge us! (we tipped and paid accordingly.) We wouldn’t have been able to get someone to take care of our cats if they hadn’t already had our key on file. It made a terrible situation much less stressful.
I also really like their online appointment booking system. It’s so much easier and more precise.

I contacted the Animal Nanny and got an initial form letter response, and responded to setup a consultation 4 times now — haven’t heard a THING back. Do these people want any business? I would never leave my beloved animal with people who can’t even write back to an email requesting their services.

So I have been looking for a pet sitter for about a week now. I have called the Animal Nanny 5 times and have left detailed messages for them to return my call. They have never returned my calls and this is frankly unacceptable. If they cant even return a potential new customers phone call it makes me wonder how well they are taking care of their clients pets.
I would suggest using 3A Pet Sitting if you need a pet sitter/​dog walker. At least they can answer their phone and are SUPER nice!

I have been using the Animal Nanny for a couple of years now. They are wonderful! When I’m away, my nanny sends photos of my kitties every day. It’s easy to schedule services and pay online.

Please do not flag this review. I’m only giving my true fact what happened to my pets. Last year, when I was away for the vac for a week, they completely forgot to give food and water upstairs of the house. I have multiple cats and one of cats is extremely shy and she only eats dry food and water from upstair. Since she didn’t get food and water, she got really dehydrated and had to be in emergency hospital for 1week. Thanks to the doctor, she is now back to what she was. Although their insurance covered the med bill, it’s difficult to trust them again. I would never use them again.

Got word from my neighbors that my dog had been running loose. Turns out she had been out and about for close to two days. TWO DAYS! It was a miracle she was not hurt. Called the nanny to see what was going on — as usual was directed to an answering machine. Luckily neighbors intervened. Came back and found worms in the dirty water bowl. I guess when you are paying the Nanny to come every day, refresh your dog’s water and walk her, it was too much to actually expect them to do it. No such problems in them charging me for it though.
You will notice all the good reviews are from when Howard was running the show. I’ve been using the Nanny for a while, loved the reassurance that Howard gave but ever since the business has been sold, quality has fallen to now where I keep a bucket of water handy for the dog just in case the nanny does not show up for the day. So much so for a peace of mind while on vacation.

all i can say is RUDE!
I read everyone else’s reviews and was looking forward to finding out what all the rave was about. First we called and had no return call… after the second call we got a return call. Sure, we are making last minute arrangements, but from the looks of his ads and reviews it looked like it was something that he was accustomed to. He was only able to meet us the day before we had to leave and that is quite risky on our part to only interview someone the day before we are to leave town… But what got me was how he reacted to the fact that we were interviewing others. He was extremely rude and condescending. How am I to give a key to our house to someone that is that rude over the phone??? I am so happy that we met Esther from Candy’s Pampered Pets. She is sweet, calm, loving and very accommodating. We feel very confident in trusting her with our puppies and house.

The Animal Nanny was wonderful. They were able to come take care of my two kitties with very detailed instructions for each one with no problems. They were flexible with some last minute scheduling changes and made me feel comfortable leaving my babies in their care. One of my cats had recently been in the hospital so there was some extra monitoring to be done, and with the Animal Nanny, I had full confidence that it would be done, and at a reasonable rate. Howard is also very personable and attentive and left a detailed note on the care for our return home.

The Animal Nanny provided great pet sitting for my dog. Howard started out with a very professional and thorough interview to be sure he understood a bit about my dog and his surroundings. For more than a week, his service watered plants, got the mail, took great care of our dog. At the last minute, we had a chance to stay even longer on our trip than planned and Howard quickly arranged service for us. Our dog was happy to see us, but probably received even more attention when we were gone! Our neighbors even noticed the dog being walked. A great service. Strongly recommended.

the first time I hired AN, everything ran smoothly. This time, I emailed them on June 24 requesting service beginning July 30 and got this message: «We will call you a few days before your service begins for a final confirmation. «Today, Thursday 9 pm 7/​26, (this is 3 days before requested service,) I had still not heard a word from AN. Please keep in mind that I work and cannot always adjust my schedule in order to meet someone else’s convenience.
Because I work tomorrow and the next day and get on the plane the following day (Sunday), I decided to make arrangements for someone else to take care of my cats on Monday as anticipated. I emailed AN to inform them of my decision and immediately received an extremely argumentative, hostile phone call from someone connected with the organization, who seemed to think that because their emaiil said «a few days» that I should work around their schedule. Alas, I do not have that luxury And whom is hiring whom here?
So this is my advice. If you have the luxury of being at their beck and call, go for it. The sitters are good. If you have a timeline of your own and can’t wait for verification at the very last minute or change your schedule to meet their’s, go somewhere else. Unfortunately, as much as I regretted having to do so, that’s what I did. I can’t leave the care of my pets to chance; I need to know that someone will be there, and I need to know it BEFORE packing the suitcase. That’s how it goes for me.

I have been using the services of animal nanny for a couple of years now to walk my dogs while I’m at work and for pet sitting when I am out of town. There have been several times where I have had to make pet walking or sitting requests at the last minute and they always come through for me. Howard the owner and Shelli the person who takes care of my dogs are two of the most friendly, reliable and dog loving people that I know! Having my dogs in their care really puts my mind at ease. My dogs totally love their nanny!

This pet-​sitting service really is great. Howard, one of the owners, is one of the most professional people I have met in any industry. He loves pets, and runs a truly successful business taking care of them while you are away. LIcensed and bonded, they first come to meet you and your pet, learn of any special needs, etc. Then you can pick the frequency of visits. One of their staff of sitters will come to your place, spend time with your pet, fill food, water dishes, even water your plants and pick up your mail. We couldn’t be happier with the fact that they are local and so professional.

The most excellent pet sitting service right on your doorstep in Fremont. I have used the animal nanny for my two cats have always been incredibly pleased with service, you can even pay you bill online.
