I came from L.A. to visit a family and my cousin got us a room here. the first room they have us was not that good it looked like someone slept in the bed and it had woman’s hair in it. We tried to get a refund but this hotel does not give you refunds. So we asked for another room, the guy was nice about it and he did give us another room. Which was way better than the first one. Cleaner, smelled good, it was nice. So over all we had a good experience there wasn’t a lot of noise outside. I would stay here again.

You get what you pay for. Although their rates are low in comparison to other hotels their rooms are disgusting. The bathroom will make you question whether you should hold it in or take the chance of acquiring an infectious disease.

Horrible horrible experience!!! My girlfriend and I spent two nights at University Inn, everything looked promising until we had a complaint. Upon arrival our room was not even ready when we booked in advanced. The clerk offered us a room with two beds, a little unsure at first but we agreed. My girlfriend ended up asking if we could be moved because it was quite loud in the area where we were. We ended up in a room with a single bed and was satisfied. The bed however did not seem to have a comforter, it looked liked it was just a fleece blanket. We didn’t really think anything of it. The next morning we woke up with red marks all over our bodies, my girlfriend had them much worse than I. We immediately went to the front desk to inform them. The clerks response was that it could be an allergic reaction because she seen similar marks on her husband. We denied that imply and she said she would have the «maintenance man» take a look. The maintenance man came to our room and said that he could not find anything, and that our marks were not fresh markings and that he knew what fresh bite marks look like. Irate with his response we asked to speak to a manager. The clerk told us that there was not going to be a manager available until Monday. By this time no apology was given nor did they try to accommodate us in anyway. Our bedding was not changed nor did they offer us another room or help to find another location. The day we checked out (Saturday) we seen the maintenance man talking to another gentleman behind the desk so we asked if this was the manager. He claimed he was the current manager on duty. We told him what had happened and told him that we were very unhappy with our stay. He told us that we did not have proof that we received those marks while staying here. Constantly telling him the proof was on our bodies we assured him that it did indeed happen here because we have not been anywhere else. We even showed him our markings others we could not because they were in private places and my girl even had markings on her face. There were even marks on her breasts and buttocks. The manager strictly implied that we did not get those marks from our stay and that we had no proof and refused to accommodate us in anyway. He said the maintenance man did not find anything and that he would call pest control and that they would not find anything either. We asked if we could speak to the owner because their lack of professionalism was really unbelievable. Every last person we brought our complaint to discredited us immediately without hesitating and implied that they were not liable. By this time we still did not receive any type of apology from anybody nor did they attempt to alleviate the situation. No acknowledgement for our unhappiness whatsoever. We still had to pay full price and we are currently fighting for a refund. My girlfriend ended up seeing a doctor and was told that these were indeed flea bites. The hotel is pet friendly and only certain rooms allow pets. We did not feel valued or taken seriously here, and the fact that they lacked empathy or compassion to make things right for us is so unprofessional, extremely upsetting and disrespectful.

I used this hotel multiple times during the spring 2015 semester. I travel from out of the area and use the hotel as a night stay, for my two days worth of classes at Fresno State. The place was decent. It was within walking distance of the school (right across) and also walking distance to dog house grill and other places. I stayed here at least a minimum of 8 times during the semester. When it comes to safety, I was fine. I didn’t leave anything in my car (why attract problems?), nor did I have issues with my car while it was in the parking lot. I didn’t roam the hotel at night, for I went straight from my car to the hotel room… and I was fine! The rooms are fine, and meets its purpose. I stayed during the week. So I can’t vouch for the weekend.

Its a pretty descent motel. My room was clean, well maintained and everything in a very good condition. I stayed here for 2 days and all good, no hassles, no problem. Pretty good experience. I was there in fresno for the first time to attend a physical therapy workshop and it ended out to be a good experience .
They have starbucks, just next to hotel, and lots of good restaurants like buffalo wild wings and doghouse, in a walking distance of 2 – 3 mins. Their breakfast was superb.
All this for just 58 $ is more than enough. No complains sir. If I go to fresno and plan to stay close to fresno state university, this will be my destination.

Just want to start off by saying I did not chose to stay here. My friend and I were in town for a wedding and needed a place to stay so my dad bought us a room here for the weekend. It’s close to a lot of different stores and places to eat. The room itself was clean but seemed to be missing a lot. For instance, the bed didn’t have a top cover and there were no little bottles of shampoo. When my friend went downstairs to ask if they had shampoo, he was greeted by a lady with a huge attitude problem. When we went down in the morning for complimentary breakfast we discovered that we were better off going to the Denny’s down the street. They only had a few muffins, toast, and crappy coffee. We also had to borrow an iron for our clothes for the wedding. My friend was met again by the same lady with chronic bitch face who handed him an iron with a burnt bottom and stated that the hotel did not have an ironing board… How and where am I suppose to iron? Overall I was happy the room was clean and that there was AC.

We stayed here for one night after a concert at the save mart center. When we got there we found that the tv was not working. We called the front desk & they sent someone to change out tvs in about 10 minutes. The amenities were pretty basic, room was clean, the free breakfast was ok. The main complaint I have is the noise. It was almost 2 in the morning & these drunk people kept yelling outside our door. I only got about 3 hours of sleep because of this. Needless to say, the next day was rough for me.

You get what you pay for. I got a room for 60 bucks for one night. Came out to almost 70. We got to the room and immediately decided to find a new hotel. We were slow so it took us around 15 – 20 mins to call the front desk and say we were leaving. They said we were there past 15 mins and will be fully charged! By law don’t u have more time? They were NOT accommodating at all. The mattress was hard and felt like sleeping on a rock. The picture tube tv was putting off a high pitch squeal that was giving us a headache. The wifi was slow and didn’t work. We complained and they sent someone who checked the tv and said that was «normal». Front desk then said try their other wifi abc with pass 123. An obvious troll but we fell for it… The ac swamp cooler leaked on the carpet. Speaking of which the carpet was gross. We were suppose to get a microwave and mini fridge but when we came in they said they were going to charge us extra. 10 a pop for each. She said she would give us them both for 10 but we declined. I should have known then what I was getting into. They would NOT give us extra towels. They would NOT give us extra sheets or blankets. The only thing they gave us was 2 extra pillows. They would NOT work with us one bit. Even went as far as to say there’s no manager on duty and there was nothing they could do. Outrageous! Weren’t they trying to give me a deal on the microwave and fridge? Unbelievable. They would NOT move us to another room. I even asked them don’t they want repeat business from their customers? Unsatisfactory answers all around. We left to go out and I left my belongings there. When we came back I then saw a glaring sign saying they’re not responsible for theft!!! Yea that made me feel real safe and secure! Indeed. Said their «manager Raul» will be there M-​F 9 – 5. Convenient I’d say. Shower was decent.

Recently stayed here for one night after attending a concert at the Save Mart Center! I really appreciated the fact that the hotel was located directly across the street from the concert hall. The grounds and room were maintained nicely and the girl working the desk was extremely friendly and helpful. There’s also a Starbucks and great little restaurants within close walking distance. I would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately we booked this room through Hotwire and what a mistake that was! I have never stayed in such a terrible hotel in my whole life. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone and would rate it zero if I had the chance!
The horrible experience started from the very beginning upon check-​in. We arrived there around midnight and I waited over 5 minutes before even being acknowledged by the employees. This was completely unacceptable since there were 3 employees working the front desk and no other customers there. All 3 employees were talking to each other and looking ‘busy’ staring at their computers. Once I was finally called up to the counter, the older man working the desk never greeted me, thanked me for waiting, or even looked at me the WHOLE time I was checking in. I had to repeatedly ask him questions before he would even answer me and he responded with obvious annoyance that I would even dare ask him a question. He offered no information about the hotel itself or any of the ammenities either.
Our terrible experience continued when we reached our room and my family and I were all horrified at how disgusting it was. The room was incredibly hot and the air conditioner didn’t even work properly. We literally had to open the windows to cool the room down enough to even sleep. If it wasn’t so late at night and I didn’t have young kids who were exhausted from the 5 hour drive I would have turned around immediately and gone to another hotel.
Once we had our windows open all we could hear was shreiking, laughing, and yelling from a whole bunch of drunk people whose party bus was parked in the hotel parking lot. I eventually had to call the front desk to ask them to get the people to be quiet so we could sleep or remove them from the parking lot. The younger male who answered the phone at the front desk laughed at my request and said he would see what they could do. This was incredibly frustrating since when we were checking in, we saw a security guard walk by (this should have been my first sign to get out of there and go somewhere else!!) I would have just assumed that he would have had them quiet down instead of us having to suffer through over an hour of their annoying carrying on and having to call and complain.
By far the worst part of the hotel was the state of the disgusting room. It looked like it was built back in the 70’s or 80’s and had NEVER been updated or renovated! This place was disgusting and I wouldn’t even take a shower because I was so creeped out. I could barely get myself to use the toilet and wash my hands in the disgusting sink. The bathroom flooring was cracked, and there was mold in there. I could go on and on about the state of the room but I will spare you all the nasty details. Additionally, the hotel boasted free wi-​fi but it wasn’t working. I overheard a conversation from some other customers (obvious college frat boys) who mentioned that they stayed there often and the wi-​fi never worked!
All in all I have never been in a more disgusting hotel and wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy! I would like my money back but unfortunately Hotwire won’t do that and I don’t feel like dealing with this place ever again. I can only assume that dealing with the hotel management would be the same as the service I received from the front desk staff, as the employees are often a reflection of the owners/​managers.

This is as basic as a room gets. You won’t find a Flat screen HDTV or a memory foam bed, but the AC works and things seem relatively clean. You could definitely call it old school. One of the best amenities is not part of the hotel at all, its a Starbucks in the parking lot. Although there’s no doubt that this place feels more than just a bit shady, its not a bad place to spend the night on the cheap.

Reserved a room on 8÷16÷11 at the University Inn in Fresno for I had concert tickets to the Savemart Center which is located directly across the street from the hotel. Upon arriving, it appeared to be a reasonable place to stay at around $ 60.00 a night… as I was at the front desk, my girlfriend used the lobby restroom… after getting the keys and heading towards the room, my lady tells me that she noticed a «sharps» biohazard receptacle in the restroom which I thought was a little odd, but was preoccupied with going to the concert… we then headed to the show and returned just after 11pm to the hotel… when we got back to the room, we both decided to chech out the nightlife in the area… I asked the front desk if he knew of any place open… he mentioned there was a bar down the street… so, we locked up and headed out for a drink and hopefully a bite to eat…
We walked down the street to a local place and had a couple of drinks and decided it was time to head… so, we caught a taxi and asked him to stop by Taco Bell to grab a bite to eat… then we were dropped off back at the hotel where we finished up our late night snack, locked up and headed to bed… around 4:30 in the morning (according to my cell phone clock) an arguement was going on right outside my door and and decided to investigate… I first looked out the window and noticed 3 women and 1 man in a verbal confrontation, so I then opened my door and asked them to take it elsewhere as we were trying to rest… at that point, one of the women started pounding on the window and it eventually broke… i then told my girlfriend to call the front desk and/​or the police… i then came back inside, locked up and watched the police arrive from my window…
We then went back to sleep… I woke up around 8:30am and decided to shower and start my day… when I went to grab my clothes for the day, I couldn’t locate my dufflebag with all of my clothes in it… I then woke my lady up and asked her if she had moved the bag… she said no… it should be right there… at that point she turn on the light and notice her cell phone was missing too… upon further investigation, we were missing all of our clothes, cell phones, cash, her makeup bag, purse, and some toiletries… at this point we contacted the police and I headed down to the lobby to state my complaint…
The front desk manager and assistant manager heard my story and immediately told me that the assumed no liability for my losses… I told them that i feelsomething strange is going on for I knew in my heart that I had locked up before going to bed and assumed I was safe… after the police arrived and gave them my report, i decided to case the place and look around in the bushes, trash cans and areas around the hotel… and came up with nothing… I did talk to the groundskeeper/​security person in the small plaza located next door… he told me that the Inn has had its problems with drugs, prostitution, and shady people in the area… he showed some areas where he has found stuff abandoned and/​or stashed… I came up with 2 empty backpacks that looked like the contents had been taken…
Here I am a week later recovering from our losses slowly… so I just wanted to give everyone out there the heads up… I dont know if it is just the area… or just the hotel, but my advice is stay away from this Inn… I mean, how many hotels/​inns have sharp biohazard receptacles in their lobby… wonder what they are there for… hmmm…

My car was towed. Management didn’t care to listen to me. Thats all I have to say.

To our dismay, the room was not serviced. I called the front desk and inquired about the situation and the night manager said «Sorry, we had a lot of rooms to clean.» The sales manager’s reply «thank you for the feedback. I’m sorry for the inconvenience but we will make things right for you. I will conduct an investigation and will get back to you shortly. All I can tell you right now is that our rooms get serviced on a daily basis and „we had a lot of rooms“ is not a response i’m satisfied with either.» The University Inn never made it right.

What… I’m sorry what were you saying??? Sorry, I’m not paying attention… I’m watching the door for the mass murderers I’m certain are going to bust through the door at any moment…
Yeah, I was told to stay here… I don’t know why a friend would risk my life and limb to stay here… I’m already going to Fresno for their graduation. Do they really not want to leave here alive. If the heat doesn’t kill you the person next door might?
So you’re probably asking why the three stars…
well first off… they do have GAWD GIVEN AC n WIFI in the rooms. did I mention that both were free? oh yeah!!!

I always stay at this hotel when I’m on business in Fresno. The rates are cheap (look for discounts in local travel guides) — usually around $ 42/​night and the staff are really friendly. It’s got a good location directly across from the SaveMart Center and just a few doors down from the DogHouse Grill.
They do have WiFi and a complimentary breakfast (coffee, juice, pastry, cereal). The WifFi is limited to the lobby area only so you might not be able to get it in your room.
Rooms are a good size and are clean for the most part. I spent around 20 nights here over the past year and have only had one bad experience which involved two cockroaches that were easily taken care of with a swipe of a newspaper.
You can find cheaper hotel rooms in Fresno, but at least this one is located in a pretty safe location and gives you a few extra amenities.
