I saw the great Unilocal! & Google reviews on Lulu’s so one of my colleagues and I decided to go there for lunch today. As it turns out, Lulu’s has left and Rudy’s has taken her place, so I don’t have a way to gauge the difference between the two. I can only tell you that based on what I had for lunch today, which was Rudy’s lunch special below for $ 7.95, that it was a thumbs-up for me: * Carne de rez con nopales(Beef and diced cactus) * Mexican rice * Frijoles con chorizo(refried beans with chorizo) * 4 Tortillas I’m from SoCal and I just can’t get into Tex-Mex here, so one of my biggest frustrations in moving to the North Dallas area is(what I thought was) the lack of traditional, home-style Mexican style food — until today. The meal came pretty dang close to my mom’s cooking — the beans tasted just like hers! The ONLY reason I didn’t give this meal 5 stars is because,(1) he added as trip of [Ugh!] that rubbery yellow stuff they dare call American«cheese.» I told Rudy that moving forward, a traditional meal like this deserves the respect of some kind of original Mexican cheese — be it queso seco, panela, asadero, ranchero or fresco — ANYTHING except American cheese — PLEASE! And(2), because it doesn’t include the drink. You have to buy one of the drinks from the convenience store and pay for it at the register up front. Oh yeah… Did I mention that this little gem of place is located inside of a Chevron/Quick Trip convenience store? Yep — the little kitchen is in the back, near the fountain drink dispenser and only has 2 – 3 booths that can accommodate 4 people each. It’s definitely a «food to go» place, but my friend and I got lucky today and were able to sit and eat our meal. *SPECIALS* each week include Street Style Tacos served in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdasy, as well as Menudo on Saturday mornings and Pozole on Sundays. Oh, yeah… I’ll be there. :)

In a word… Authentic! This place is hands down the best Mexican food in Frisco. If you haven’t tried the breakfast tacos or the barbacoa and menudo on the weekends, then you are missing out! Wish I still lived in Frisco just so I could eat here… yeah, it’s THAT good!
