History

Established in 2010.

25 years ago Tim taught his mentally handicapped older brother Billy how to make cookies using the basic recipe on the back of the Hershey’s Morsel package. Since then, Billy has been selling his cookies around town to everyone he meets. He’s well known in Denton Texas as «The Cookie Man» He’s real proud of his deserts and eagerly accepts praise. Billy has been recognized as Self Advocate of the year and participates in Special Olympics. He has been featured in newspaper articles for his accomplishments. In 2009 Tim began searching for another craft for Billy to master, one that was safe yet a balance of ease and technicality that he could be proud to show off. Turning pens was the best idea found. After a year of convincing other family members that he could learn the craft we bought his first wood lathe and so began Royal PenCraft.

Meet the Business Owner

Tim M.

Business Owner

Tim fell in love with woodworking in 1974 at the age of 7 when he asked his dad for wood for his birthday. His dad went to the nearest construction site and filled the trunk of their oxidized baby blue Ford sedan with chunks of scrap triangles, squares and rectangles. The trunk opened like a treasure chest while all other birthday presents were tossed aside. Tim’s favorite classes in school were woodshop and drafting. He continued to college in construction management and joined the Army as a construction surveyor. Today he has worked for Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services (Formerly EDS) as an IT specialist since 1989. Woodworking is a side hobby and a weekend business that he enjoys with his brother Billy.
