This bar is a great bar and a big shout out and thank you to bartender Chris McGowan and bouncer Damian! They definitely made the night!!!

If i could give this place a 0-Star i would. This place is so unprofessional in every way. The fist time i came here. I usually don’t tip until my second/third drink because I tip based on service. I purchase my first drink and the bartender got mad and didn’t want to give me a napkin. According to him, they were a $ 1 each. Yet my Bf went to buy a drink and came back with a stack of them. The second time we came, I was the DD. We went to the second room which is all the way in the back of the bar. Since that room was a lil more crowded, If any security guard passed by, they yelled at whoever was in their way to move. At some point, one bumped into us and started yelling out to move out of the way. He started pushing. Note, we were trying to, but this place was crowded and wasn’t that easy to move in a second. My Bf literally just turned around and said to him, can you just wait. So the security got mad and pushed him to the door and said«you’re out of here». As we all exit the bar, my other friend just said Wtf, why are you guys acting like jerks and another security went to him and got on his face and started yelling at him«What then! F*CK-U! F*CK-U!» WTF! Aren’t security guards supposed to avoid fights in any way!!? Not try to start one and specially with a customer. They just ruined our whole night and my friends weren’t even buzzing it. If they don’t like to work in this type of environment, then FIND another job!!! We come here to have FUN! Not to get treated like shit. I have NEVER been treated like this in any other bar. NEVER again will i come to this place nor do i recommend it to anyone who is trying to enjoy a night out.

5 stars bec it’s my go to bar at DTF they have two sides with diff music and they have really good DJ’s. If you’re around the area def stop by and check out this DJ Duo named Twopley! Amazing! They know how to pump the crowd for sure. The drinks are good and they make them strong. They also have a patio area if you need fresh air! There’s dancing and all! My friends and I love it!

My friends and I were there last night, we had a pretty nice tab going make these place a good amount of money(there were about 12 of us)… And the place was getting way to pack where there was no room to walk to the bar, so what does the security do to get by us… They push us to get by. Mind you they push my friend and I hit the next person and so on… So we told them something and they kick us out, the one doing the pushing tells my buddy he wants to talk to him out side like he wants to fight and tells my friend to fuck off… Really looking for a fight, and my buddy tells him we can talk right here. He puts his stupid flash light on him and the rest of security comes to kick us out. I hope management sees the security tape from last night so they can make the correct actions… you push us and kick us out… I would avoid this place, security complete assholes.

Wowzers! All I see is a bunch of hate in here. Maybe you shouldn’t get kicked out next time for doing stupid stuff. I have been coming here for eight years and I have been respected every time I walk in the door. Unfortunately I live out of town now, but I make sure to stop here when I am in town. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have a fun time. The drinks are priced well. Please remember to take care of your bartenders and they will take care of you.

I lost my wallet Saturday here. A Good Samaritan found it and turned it in. Not one but two bartenders found me on Facebook and messaged me. This bar has incredible bartenders!

Ok the staff here is what makes the place 5 stars. The bartenders are great to chat with and so are the bouncers. Zero tolerance for BS though. When DJ Connect is on the night is a great party scene and on Mondays there’s no DJ and it becomes a cool chill scene to talk and relax. The outdoor patio is spacious as far as the rest of the patios around downtown fullerton go. It has access to the bar so for the smokers this is awesome. They have two pool tables which are usually taken unless you come on monday. Old school cigarette vending machines for 7 bucks inside. The drinks are well made and they have specials on certain days. I follow them on instagram to find out whats going on. Weekends are kinda crazy cause of the college students in the area so beware that. Wheelchair accessibility is perfect restrooms and all.

My friends and I came on 10/24/2015 and my friend ordered two shots of tequila from the shortest, oldest looking bartender. The bartender handed us the shots + lime + receipt. We asked for salt and he looked at the receipt and said«No tip? No salt!» I tried to ask another bartender for salt and he was about the grab it for me and the first bartender screamed«HEYWE’REOUTOFSALT.» What a pretentious, self entitled ass hat. I wanted to get a drink but decided against giving this bar my money.

Last night I was fairly tipsy and was trying to order a beer. The bartender told me there was a $ 10 card limit, so I got two. When the bill came, it said $ 23…something wasn’t adding up. I called him over and asked how much a beer was($ 6). He took a look, apologized, and redid my bill. Hmm, innocent mistake, or taking advantage of my inebriated state to charge me a little extra? You decide. It seemed a bit fishy to me…

I went there last night for my friends birthday, as im waiting outside for my friends outside the front door after having a couple drinks to go bar hopping, the security guards were talking back and forth on their ear pieces«whos the idiot who gave him too much to drink» deliberately taking smack on ME right in front of me. My exact words«really? Your gonna talk $!&@ right in front of me» from that moment on all of their professionalism went right out the window. My other friend had tried to re enter the bar after going in and out various times. The security had seen us multiple times through out the night and even had let me in without checking my ID at one point cause obviously they had checked it various times that night. After the the situation of talking smack on me right in front of my face all of a sudden they became incredibly stingy about the ID’s and pushed my friend back for trying to go into the bar without showing his ID(actually pushed him) when THESAMESECURITYGUARDLETMEINWITHOUTCHECKINGMYID. HEHADSEENUSALLTHROUGHTHENIGHT. But because i caught them slipping about talking smack on their customers they just denied us entry for the rest of the night not allowing us to go and get the rest of our friends. I work security myself and i would never hire any of these unprofessional goons, but then again thats why i work at a nice hotel and not some sleezy bar like these sorry excuse for people.

Don’t frequent this bar. After having had a few rounds of drinks, my girlfriend asked me to get her some water. When I went up to the bar I was denied the water. The bartender told me to go stick my head under the sink if I wanted water at which point I reminded the bartender that it is illegal to deny a customer water, and offered to tip him for water. Suddenly his attitude changed, when I asked if he had change for a ten dollar bill for the water he turned around and I grabbed the water and walked away. I gave the water to my girlfriend and shortly after I was escorted out of the bar by the bouncers who told me that the owner wanted me out. I looked back inside to see the bartender/owner flipping me off and cussing me out. All for a glass of water.

Extremely dirty place with the most chauvinistic, shady, and disrespectful«security» «bouncers» «bartenders» working there. My girlfriend was served at 1:30AM5 large cocktails. After receiving our drinks, the lights came on and all of the employed staff began shouting the bar is closed and for everyone to leave. Staff members are walking around like they are herding cattle bullying and forcing people to leave. My friend and I went back to the bar and complained that we had just purchased our drinks and are now being asked to leave. The bartender said that he would allow us to stay and finish our drinks but, at this point we were just ready to leave. We requested a refund and he agreed to issue the refund. As we were standing there talking to each other, the bartender said«you know what, I think you ladies have an attitude» he took all of our drinks and dumped them in front of us and said«there is nothing you can do about it» and«security will make you leave now.» He then cowardly leaves the bar area and does not come back out. The majority of the staff wear black shirts with the word«Security» on it and this apparently gives them the power to mistreat and disrespect women and the customers of this disgusting establishment. Isn’t the entire purpose of Security to make women and customers feel safe and secure? Not here. Instead, they bully people and even more degrading and disturbing, the staff bully women. They are completely out of line and one specifically told me «this is not Starbucks, this is how it works at a bar» and«we can do what we want and there is nothing you can do about it». We asked for the manager and they laughed in our faces and said he is never here and doesn’t care what you have to say. Really? Also to be noted select women are there drinking after hours. Back Alley lives up to its name with the dirty, grimy and shady jerks that work there.

Last night we ventured out to our old stomping grounds; downtown Fullerton. If you’ve never been down here let me give you a fair warning that this place can get crazy. You know that scene that pops in head when you think a steriotypical college town? Sorority girls in mile high heels, frat guys in button ups, bright vans and a SnapBack and cigarets smoke filling the night air. That’s downtown Fullerton(more known to the locals as DTF). It’s always a bar hop because when you’re there you don’t really have a choice; it’s what people do. We ended the night at Back Alley at about 2:30 am. Recommended if you don’t need to go here, don’t. It’s one of those bars that tried to pass off as a club but has no dance floor, so in order to get from the bar to the back patio youll need to rub against the bodies of the twerkers taking up every inch of space available. http://Http://thesweetestdisposition.wordpress.com IG: klairebearrr

WOMENBEWARE. I came here last night with a couple of girlfriends after dinner at The Cellar for a final cocktail before calling it a night. I had only been to this dive twice before and other than the overall cleanliness, I didn’t have any complaints. We were having a fine time until my friend(who admittedly had too much to drink) was taken into a room behind the bar and the door was closed and then ‘protected’ by a couple of the bouncers(or bartenders?). I promptly got up to check on my friend because it seemed really creepy and suspicious. I was treated like a criminal for it. The dick in front of the door(HISNAMEISMIKE) told me I needed to step back away from the bar because it was«employees only». He started getting really annoyed with me when I said the girl locked up behind him was not an employee and I needed to make sure she was OK. I was being firm but completely rational and respectful about it, despite the fact that I wanted to punch him in the throat. He gave a nod to another man over my shoulder(not sure what his name was but he was a tiny man with obvious little man syndrome) and he started *screaming* in my ear that I needed to «back the fuck off or I was going to be thrown out of the bar.» I stood there silent and shocked for a few moments and then the door opened and they let my friend out. Drugs being given, sold or promised to pretty girls back there? Sexual assault? Not exactly sure what happened behind the closed door or what could have happened if i didn’t say something… but I am sure that their frat like, predator asshole attitudes when a concerned friend inquires about the safety of her very intoxicated girlfriend are sad, unprofessional, inhuman and should be illegal. I have so many friends that frequent this shit hole and I am going to make it my personal mission to let them know about my experience. Cheap and strong drinks are NOT worth having to interact with the puffy chested, shady employees and their scary behind closed doors business with drunk female patrons. Honestly, I’m still considering filing a complaint with the FPD.

Back Alley is a pretty common spot to pass through in Downtown Fullerton, but despite many people always telling me to come here I’ve never enjoyed it. It’s a really cramped bar with an odd layout. There’s normally a DJ right at the entrance with a tiny dance floor and a bar. Then, it leads you to a back bar where it gets even more cramped and there’s always a wait late at night to get out to the patio section, which they slowly let people trickle into because they are abiding by the fire safety laws. Alcohol(at least beer) is pretty cheap here, but it’s just too small and there’s VERY few places to just chill. You have to be truly drunk by the time you reach this bar if you hope to find any sort of enjoyment late on a Friday/Saturday night… There’s better bars in the area.

I went here on Halloween night. It was super crowded! The bartenders are wonderful and make some really strong drinks! I had a blast talking to people, dancing, and seeing all the decked out costumes! I took off two stars for the bouncer in the back. There is a capacity limit for the alley of the back alley bar. My group was hanging out in the alley and the girls decided to take a bathroom break. When we went back out to join our boyfriends the bouncer stopped us saying he had already surpassed capacity by four people! I don’t get it his job is to make sure he stays at or below capacity. Why does he breach capacity for them but not for us? We stood there glaring at him for fifteen minute before he let us join our boyfriends and leave. I would understand if he hadn’t breached capacity yet but it really irritated me that he made an exception for someone else but not for us. Everyone else that works there is awesome the bouncer in the back does not understand his job.

My new go to drink spot when I’m in town. Used to frequent this place when I went to CSUF and nothing has changed in the 6 years I been coming here off & on. Best place in DTF to get LA Waters($ 12). The drinks are really strong. For some reason I think the bartender who wears a baseball cap on Sunday nights makes his drinks the strongest. Younger crowd but your in a college town so that’s expected.

This place makes me sad. This place makes me want to get drunk. When I get sad, I get drunk. When I get drunk, I get sad. Welcome to Back Alley Bar and Grill. Prepare to be walking past sweaty people, overcrowded dance floor(s) loud music, strong drinks, attractive women and a nice smoking patio. If you haven’t made a regrettable decision here, then you haven’t done Downtown Fullerton properly.

One of the best bars in downtown Fullerton! Disregard the bad reviews, if you read closely, most of them sound bitter because they did something stupid and got kicked out, or something along those lines. Some of them even say they keep going back, if you hated it the bar that much, wouldn’t you just stay away? First you have to remember this is downtown Fullerton we are talking about, most of the bars in the area are all very similar. Nothing fancy! Here are some of the reasons I like going to backalley! –drink specials(I think everyday) –good mixed drinks –friendly staff and bartenders(don’t do anything stupid, or they will do their job and kick you out) –reasonable prices –music is always good –diverse customer base! You will meet so many different types of people ! –2 different bars –huge patio –Tuesdays they have 3 dollar shock tops, 5 dollar fire ball shots, a good dj and an MC from power 106 :) That’s just a few, honestly I wish more people would write about the good times! Sounds like everyone is just venting on Unilocal when something goes wrong!
