Baja Fresh Mexican Grill

This place is in dire need of a facelift. I got a fish taco and the piece of fish was about the size of a french fry.

We used to come here a lot for the outside patio so we could dine with our dog. Apparently, the patio is now owned by mall management so they no longer need service it. Pitty, all tables are dirty outside with ice cream and graffiti. Food is always good, restuarant was clean and cashiers/​mgmt are friendly.

The place was pretty dead. Upon entering, there was an empty, depressive feeling of failure that’s hard to describe. It was a Sunday evening, but the El Pollo Loco across the parking lot had a Queue even for the drive through…
The Kid behind the Baja counter was nice enough but came across as borderline illiterate/​retarded (sorry for word choice). No personality/​dynamism whatsoever. The cook in back looked like a recent parolee from State prison.
My Baja Burrito with chicken (added sour cream) was just so-​so. The biggest complaint is that the ingredients inside were separate– you could either get a bite of pico de gallo-​sour cream, or a bite of chicken, but not both. Something was just off about the food. This was unlike the food at other locations.
Even the tortilla chips that came with it were bad. How can you screw those up?
I concur with others that this was an experience unlike any other B.F. location I’ve been to. There was nothing upbeat or positive about the atmosphere or the food. It was like being in a gas station convenience store that also sells food.

The food is so so kinda bland. The salsa bar helps but the salsas are watered down and super runny. The booths are all torn up.

I came to this location on my break and ordered over the phone. We had three orders that we told the guy over the phone we wanted to pay separate. When we got there the food was already bagged and ready. The lady helping us had our order all on one check. We told her that we wanted to pay separate and had already told the guy on the phone that. She paused for the longest time not saying anything and seemed irrated then finally had to put a new order in for each of us.
The place inside is pretty decent and has a lot of seating. I got the Baja Burrito and it was pretty good. You have to get it wet because if you don’t it is way too dry and plain. It doesn’t have rice or beans. I do like that they add the sauce and cheese to the chips as well if you get it wet.
They are pricey though. It was like $ 11 just for the burrito and chips no drink. I would come here more if they weren’t so high in price.

Called in an order from work about 10−15mins before and good was ready to go. Girl at front was ok, she seemed kind of bugged that I requested to split the orders and pay with three different transactions. I let the guy know ahead of time as well when I called in the order and he said no problem. Got the baja chicken burrito with no pico. Was very dry and plan. not so good. Ordered a side of guac and chips which was ok as well. Restaurant overall is clean and foods ok but not likely to come often unless I had a coupon or something of some sort.

Clean place, tacos okay but better salsa at local taquerias. Don’t get the taquitos, they only come with chicken and taste like they’ve been in a freezer a month and heated in a microwave.
This place seems only known for their tacos.

Haven’t had Baja Fresh in years! Food was ok. But oh my, there was so much smoke in that place I couldn’t enjoy my meal let alone even breathe!!! And not one employee opened the door or do anything to let the smoke out. Ironically some firemen walked in to eat and left the doors open. Lol

This place reminds me of being 16 and driving for Baja burritos!

Had the Nacho Burrito, it was boring
Also had a fish taco, too heavy on the citrus juice
GF had the carnitas bowl and the carnitas was super salty, whereas the rest of the dish needed something to spice it up.
The counter guys were super nice, but the food was a disappointment.

I’m kinda disappointed. I usually love Baja Fresh but I haven’t been in awhile. I got 2 grilled fish tacos. They were small pieces of fish & the flavor was just not there & a little dry. Not sure if they got a new chef or what. Kinda sad. I won’t be in a rush to go back.
Pronto Guac is still good. Oh, they changed their chips too, not as good, for sure!

So you want some fresh corporate errr chain mexican food and you want to make sure that it is made in a sterile environment. Maybe get to pay an extra couple of bucks to ensure that as well as less flavor, well you have come to the right place.
I literally hadnt been to a Baja Fresh in at least 9 years. So I stopped in and ordered up a burrito. Low and behold, I realized why I hadnt eaten there for at least 9 years.
PRO TIP #1: Its hidden wedged in between a few other buildings
I got a simple Carne Asada Mexican Burrito. What I got was a bunch of beans rice and not so flavorful beef. Where is the taste? Ohhh I forgot I had to add sauce to make it taste good *rolls eyes* seriously though, it shouldnt have to have a bunch of hot sauce to make it taste good. The sauce should be an enhancement not a savior!
Pro Tip #2: be ready to know what sauce you want on your grub, they only have like 7 different ones!!!
The one good thing was that I got decent customer service and they tossed in a few chips with my grub. I liked that the chips were freshly made, however, can we put a pinch of salt on them in the future? Seriously a lil bit of salt goes a super long way with tortilla chips doesn’t it?
Ohhhhh well I learned my lesson. I wont be going back, especially with so many good holes in the wall not to far away.
