Great customer service but I bought a mini drone here and the next day it started smoking I called them to let them know that happened since the bluest day I can come in is a Monday. I hope they just return it and give me a new one I will update this saying how it went

I love coming here, hands down one of the most helpful places I have ever been to, I’m kinda new to the whole hobby of RC’s and the guy here is always helpful and he always takes the time to explain things to me about my RC’s issues, I recommend this place to anyone who loves RC’s

Visited GBM to inquire about an RC trainer plane. I have no experience and was candid that I had lots of questions. I explained my interest and concern about having no one to assist me. I was not interested in going to a large flying field like the Great Park where the experienced flyers go.
At GBM I was welcomed with patience and honest opinions. I was not rushed or made to feel embarrassed about my lack of experience. That is rare at some places where the sale is most important to the owner. Not here. I got good explanations and was guided to a low-​cost ready to fly plane which had been suggested toe at a website selling another trainer.
I look forward to flying. I know if I have need of help that GBM will be where I go.

My lovely wife went went in to this man’s world of boy games to surprise me at Chistmas with a new RC car. Sparky really took his time to make sure that she understood what she was buying and treated her like lady she is. I have recommended numerous people here and I always here wonderful things. Thank you Sparky for being such a gentleman.

Purchased a brand new Airsoft mask for my eleven year old son for Christmas and it was already scratched when I pulled it out of the OEM package. Never used with original packaging and receipt and they would not exchange or refund it. Avoid at all costs

A girl who’s into Model Cars as a hobby. Oh, My! To be completely honest about it, I’ve just started getting into the whole craze. Hence, why I completely appreciated my time spent at this location.
First of all, Gear Box is in a heavy industrial area, it kind of blends in with the office buidlings around it. Win — Lots of Parking on a Saturday. If we weren’t driving a certain direction on the street, we could of missed it altogether.
The shop is a decent size for it’s particular and very cool merchandise. MODELS ONLY — they do not carry figurines, I know this, because I asked.
The Staff was very helpful… Also, I think that it was just too obvious that I was a ‘Newb’ going into the store. They genuinely wanted to offer the best advice for getting my little Tamiya Mini-​Cooper up and running.
Amazingly — they are open 7 days a week people! So start your engines and take a trip to Gear Box to check out all their cool stuff.

We heard about Gear Box from a friend about 3 years ago. They have great customer service! Always helpful. My 10 year old and 12 year old will actually call them when they need help and they do over the phone. Very knowledgable.

Great customer service. They really took the time to answer all my questions in a detailed manner. I’m new to the hobby and these guys were the most helpful out of the three other local shops I stopped by this month. The other reviews seem to be spot on about this place.

Recently got into RC planes and copters with my son. This shop is nice! Guys are great to talk with and get advice from. They also know we can only spend so much, so just talk to them and often you’ll be surprised what they’ll be able to do for you.

Buyer beware. Sketchy no-​returns policy. They could have mentioned this before I walked out with $ 200 in servos I can’t use on my robot.

I used to have no problem here, until i ran into john, he told me the parts i bought would fit my car and they didn’t. I then called back to explain why they don’t work and then he says you have to mod them I didn’t ask for a part i needed to mod i asked if they would work properly. I then call back to ask to return them and he tells me no so i asked his name and for the owner and he started to mock me for wanting to take back 20 dollars worth of parts. It was the most unprofessional thing I’ve ever encountered. I’ve spent a lot of money in this store and for this guy to treat a loyal customer like this is a little ridiculous. I suggest going to ultimate hobbies or hobby people in orange off katella, where they show you some respect. And what kind of person acts like a fool to someone when they don’t even own the store. Take your business else where, it will most likely be appreciated more than here.

Bravo, guys. With a lot of knowledge, a good selection, and an inventory of small parts, you helped my son graduate from throw-​away remote control toys. Thank you.
For other readers of this review, I’d like to point out that everything we have bought or considered buying from Gearbox has been items whose prices are pretty well controlled by manufacturers or distributors. This means there’s no screaming deal at Wally World (since they don’t carry this stuff there) and even online, I couldn’t find any discounts. So, you might as well give the business to a place that also provides tons of advice and suggestions.

I had ONCE recommended them but they have thrown parts at a friend leaving their store, have reneged on promises made to customers about the ability to return, and basically have become a place to avoid at all costs. Their prices have always been exorbitant, but the convenience of their location once made up for it. The way they treat customers that have spent thousands of dollars with them is inexcusable.

Great shop with really friendly staff. I broke a part on my RC truck and the staff member walked me through a few options and made a recommendation. I took his word on it and later verified his suggestion.
Also, if they don’t have the item you are looking for, ask them. They have ordered a few parts for me and had them in stock in a few days.
I have already given their business cards to a few friends. Definitely worth checking out and they are pretty close to the ⁵⁷⁄₉₁ freeways which help save drive time.

Sparky there helped me make the best decision as far as buying the Blade 120 SR in their show room. I have had the most fun flying it and when i thrash parts, Sparky is always on top of it with having all the parts available and the know how to get it flying again. Super friendly service, and all kinds of parts in stock. The place is a kids candy store for hobbies. Prices are firm at retail for the convenience of them having everything but when the doo doo hits the fan and you need to fly or drive again, its sure worth the price to be able to count on Gearbox to have that you need. Again talk to Sparky in there he knows his stuff and is super cool as well as all the rest of the staff there. Being open 12pm to 8 on weekdays is pretty cool because I can get parts after work or on lunch break.

Over five (5) years ago, I had found GearBox Model as a small shop and I started playing Airsoft because they have a phenomenal collections of a true craftsmanship of product. They are very knowledgeable on their stuff, very helpful. Everytime I go there, I feel like I just have to get something because now that they are at their new location, I fee like a kid at a Candy Store.
I highly recommend you check out GB (I’d like to refer to) for any R/​C products. Their store may be small, but don’t let size fool you. They can get pretty much everything and I see them more as a Specialty Hobby Shop and not JUST a hobby shop. If they don’t have it in stock, they will do their best to get it for you and still at a very reasonable price.

If you need remote control cars/​planes/​helicopters… Gearbox is the place to go. If you need airsoft items that are high quality. unique and realistic… Gearbox is also the place to go. If you are tired of sub-​par service and indifference from other hobby shops and want top notch and knowledgeable service… Gearbox is the place to go.
I have been in the RC hobby for over 20 years and into airsoft for 10 years. I have been far and wide to all of the hobby stores on the west coast and I can easily say that this store is probably the best all around store I have discovered. They may not be as big as some of the other big hobby stores around but they have an impressive collection of product. What really sets them apart is that they have the best customer service. Their employees are very helpful and will take the time to explain to you (novice and pro alike) the pros and cons of each thing. The experience I have had in other local shops has been bad because they are not helpful, knowledgeable, or nice and they make customers feel stupid and inferior. This elitist attitude is not present at Gearbox so this is why I would rather buy from them than other places.
To me, it seems that they want to perpetuate and promote the hobby as they seem to enjoy it as well. Other places are very impersonal and are more concerned about moving product.
I would rate Gearbox Models as… OUTSTANDING!
