I have to say that some of the low reviews about Softcom bother me and are due to a lack of understanding of what this Carrier provides to the rural community. Because WiMAX and Point to Point wireless broadband requires a line of site from your residence to their tower equipment, bandwidth and performance will vary greatly. Trees, hills, Even Oils in the air produced by Eucalyptus trees! can affect connection and bandwidth speeds. I live in Rural Wilton, and yes there is only 2 options out there. If you understand what goes into providing a customer wireless broadband, you would see that this carrier is not only providing a much needed service to the rural community, but as a small business they are a savior in disguise for those of us who run businesses in the country. The wireless broadband technology is changing all the time and Softcom is embracing that technology and will be upgrading their systems as it emerges. Mark my words!
I have been a Wilton residential customer of Softcom for 2 years now. I agree that the wait times for tech support are long, but they are a small business providing a service comparable to the big box carriers with just a small business headcount… patience! I have to say that the customer service is rock solid. Yes I have had fluctuations in bandwidth, but I understand and accept that based on the technology that is currently in use and it just comes with the territory. If you want 50mb with no latency or down time, move to the city and get a fiber connection, if you live in rural Galt, Herald, Wilton, etc… well…accept that you have chosen to live in the country and appreciate what this company is providing for us out here, the alternatives are few.
One more note of Kudos… I have had the pleasure of personalized service from a lead technician, Dan who originally installed me 2 years ago and has gone above and beyond in troubleshooting bandwidth issues for me on a couple occasions and I want him and the team at Softcom to know it does not go unnoticed. Thank you Softcom… I love living in Wilton and without you guys, it probably would not make sense for me to stay and run my business here.

This is the worst internet company you can possibly get the only reason I use it is because I had live out in the country and my son cannoyget gaming with other internet providers
their customer service department is horrible you are put on hold for 45 minutes or longer at a time you cannot speak to a supervisor I have been told that my problems have been my router my power plug it cetera etcetera. sooo I bought the new equipment thinking that potentially the problem was on my end only to find out my own equipment was perfectly fine and it was a waste of money and time
I brought in the router which they hold for 24 hours I came back and it still is not working they finally have admitted there is a problem but cannot send out a tech for 2 days currently I’ve been without internet for 12 days I am a nurse and need access to patients sensitive files at night that could potentially be life threatening situations and I have no availability of the Internet these people have a very poor service do not use them unless you absolutely need them

Shitty customer service, unfortunately it’s the only provider that covers my unincorporated area. The driest person is Miss City Chair Tammi. I’ve never called and had the wait time be less than 30 mins so be prepared to take a seat and be patient for someone who isn’t very nice. :/

I have had softcom for 6 months. I was told I would get 6 mb Download with 1.5 upload. I received 6 MB download for 30 Days. Since thin I have received less then 1.5 MB download and .2 upload. I call customer service and all they tell me is that it will cost more money to get the speeds that I was told I would get with new equipment. Customer service is horrible. The woman I talk to was rude, did not understand why I was upset and just told me the options that would cost more money. When asked about a credit for my service that I have not been receiving, she told me she is not allowed to, to contact corporate via email. I have sent emails to corporate and have not received any response multiple times. How is that for customer service.

You make me wait at least 20 minutes each time I call you, then you tell me a tech has to come out to look at our antenna but they’re not available on the weekends. Great. Thanks a lot for your help. Oh, and this is, like, the hundredth time I’ve had to do this. And every time I have to wait 20 to 30 minutes to hear that I have to wait some more in order to get my Internet service back. What the hell am I paying you guys for? Your customer service sucks. And so does your internet.

Wanted to send a thank you to the Softcom team of people — Tami and Alex. Really appreciate the time and efforts to get internet service to my remote area. I am up and running with speed and reliability.
I would recommend this company because they have many tiers for people to choose between. I need fast, I purchased fast! I also recommend prospective customers evaluate their own usage and speed needs, then purchase the appropriate package to handle it.
I would also recommend this company because of the people I worked with. Tami spent time to make sure my questions were answered and that I have unlimited usage of my internet. She also applied her company’s special offer discounts that were available at the time of my order. Alex, the field service installer was knowledgeable and efficient. After testing to make sure a service connection was viable, Alex took the time to make sure my order was filled accurately and provided the company’s best equipment possible to get my rural home connected!

Horrible customer service they can care less about the customer. Rude, non-​helping and «we cant help you» attitude even tho i pay $ 60 bucks a month but cant even get emergency access for a meeting when i was getting my car serviced right next to their office. They are the only game in town and thy use that like a mob boss that has given you a loan. If I could get other service out in Herald, I’d drop them in a heart beat!

I have been using Softcom for over 8 years and have had only the best service and even better customer service!
They are a very professional company that cares about their customers in every way .

I have been using Softcom for seven years and have been extremely happy with them Their bandwidth is excellent and service good. Sure, I’d like better service hours but the stability of my Internet connection really doesn’t require it. The few times there was a problem, it was alway quickly resolved.
I did have to leave Softcom at one point when an older technology was not working well for me in the country. I had no issues with closing my account nor getting a refund for the hardware. When WiMax and then Point-​to-​Point was offered, my account was quickly and easily reactivated. The degree that Softcom went to get me set up and dialed in perfectly was amazing.
I now enjoy speeds nearly unheard of outside city limits unless you are on LTE which of course comes with crazy low limits. My bandwidth usage would waste Verizon’s best plan in a few days leaving me to pay thousands a month while there are no limits on my Softcom account.
The team at Softcom is a great group of people that care about your Internet needs and are their to help when you call. Otherwise, you just enjoy the awesome service.

We started with Softcom fixed wireless again 3 months ago after a 5-​year hiatus. They are now doing an excellent job in every respect — technology, service, customer service, responsiveness to problems. We are routinely getting 100% reliability and faster downloads (6mbps+) at a lesser price than we were paying for 10% of that speed with others.
Five years ago, every single thing about dealing with Softcom was intensely frustrating, from poor and unreliable signal to abysmal customer service. They’ve turned it around completely and are now by far the best option in the Galt area. Give them a chance!

I have been a Softcom member for 3 years and the speed and connection are amazing! I live out in the country and the installer technician was on time and very friendly. The installer stayed for hours until I got service. Now that they have new towers I can finally have even better internet.

I was a customer since about 1996. We finally decided to bundle and change carriers, so I cancelled my account starting the next month. Well apparently, even if you pay for the entire month, you only get your service until the last weekday of that month. So if the end of the month falls on a weekend, you no longer have service and they closed my account. I wasn’t able to send out a group email to tell everyone of my email address change or save some of the emails I wanted to keep. Disappointing. They should have told me when I cancelled that was their policy. When I called to complain, not very receptive. Will never do business with them again.

Worst business ever. I was a customer for over 15 years out of habit them decided to change to AT&T for bundling my services. Had a heckuva time canceling due to an imaginary contract they said I signed, plus their phone lines are always busy or no one is available to help. Once I was able to cancel finally, I returned my equipment and they still charged me for service. Still waiting to get that payment returned to my bank account. Don’t use Softcom unless you have absolutely no option.

I have had Softcom for at least five years and have had the most excellent service. Fast connection and reliable wireless service.
