Specialties
«Big City Cuisine… Small Town Style»
Wildfire is best known for its large oak log burning grill and smoking applications with apple, hickory and mesquite wood — which gives the menu items a unique flavor. We use the power of the flame and the smoke derived there from as the nucleus of the menu, hence the name «Wildfire». The overall menu has a Texas/Southwestern Steakhouse theme and encompasses a wide variety of USDA dry aged prime beef, poultry, seafood and game meats that will please even the pickiest of diners.
Wildfire also boasts the largest selection of Texas Wines in the world according to the Texas Department of Agriculture. In addition, one can sample from the «Tower of Texas», a vintage draft beer towers, featuring only Texas beers. Wildfire is a «True Taste of Texas».
History
Established in 1997.
The two buildings that now house the Wildfire Restaurant were originally constructed circa 1920 on the site where the City Hotel stood in the late 1890s. Their history is as varied as the history of American business itself. Over the past 80-plus years, these walls have housed a clothing store, a Piggly Wiggly Grocery, Peasley’s Meat Market, Lawhon & Anderson Air Conditoning and Electrical, a Sears and Roebuck Catalog Store and then business offices. Wildfire opened its doors in August of 1997. Wildfire offers three dining areas to its customers — a main dining room, a bar/dining area «The Saloon» and a banquet room that seats up to 42 guests. Wildfire has been featured favorably in many popular publications such as: Time, Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, Southern Living, Austin Chronicle, as well as various newspapers across the state. The restaurant is family owned and operated by Bill Cox, the Proprietor.
Meet the Business Owner
Bill C.
Business Owner
Our owner Bill Cox has always been passionate about the restaurant industry. It was a passion of his to own a restaurant one day, and Wildfire allowed him to achieve that dream. He’s focused on bringing customers delicious, Texas cuisine and the fantastic service every diner deserves.
The entire team at Wildfire Restaurant is similarly devoted to the business of running a great dining establishment with compassion and providing a superb experience for their customers. Many of Wildfire’s cooks have been here for years, several since the day they opened, eighteen years ago. Other staff members, like their servers, are local students. Many of them graduate and move on, but whenever any Wildfire employee comes back for a visit, it’s like coming home. They treat their employees and customers with tremendous respect and kindness, and any time you walk in their doors, you will enjoy being at Wildfire!
