The Brickhouse Inn

We were Celebrating our 3^rd Anniversary. Perhaps we put too much faith in the Inn being calm and relaxing. We were met by Janice on Monday evening, she made us feel very welcomed. room was a lot smaller then the pictures, we could not walk past each other without grabbing onto each other and turning sideways. But that adds to the romance and coziness, right? For breakfast, We sat with another couple next to the dryer vent, which started venting. The French toast was very thick and rich, and came stuffed with a thick cream cheese concoction and it was topped with nuts and a very thick syrup, way too heavy for a summer breakfast. 2 slices of bacon were nice and crisp and rivaled a salt lick. I had asked for iced tea, It tasted like it had been run through coffee grounds a few times. I couldn’t even drink it. air from the dryer made me queasy, so we had to move to a table not by the dryer vent, and were immediately scolded by the server, as she ripped the clean settings off the table, «I had this set as a clean table.» She was not happy, which made me feel bad. not looking to cause more work for her, we just couldn’t sit near the dryer anymore. I couldn’t even leave because I felt so nautious. When I got back to my room, I wrote down the mornings events on a notepad. We had a wonderful day at Gettysburg and Eisenhower’s house. When we get back we were surprised to find a bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries. Wow! we figured it was the Inn wishing us a Happy Anniversary! Super nice right? Well it was the Inn, but they were apologizing for breakfast. the housekeeper read my notes on the notepad on the dresser, I was mortified. I feel bad for making them feel bad, Amy apologized profusely for everything, the ice tea, which she tasted was awful. she knew something had happened at breakfast so she was happy to receive our notes. The staff had been told about not running the dryer, they had problems with the server, etc. well at least I knew that It wasn’t all in my head. The next day at breakfast we found out another couple had a similar bad experience and they too received the complimentary 8.00 bottle of wine. On the upside they do leave baked goods out for you to snack on, the location is great, the backyard is very peaceful, but for the money the breakfast was a huge disappointment, also, for the month of August they discounted all rooms by $ 20 a night, but they did not pass those savings on to us. The end result is, what started out as an incredibly warm welcome, ended with me feeling extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I kind of walked around on eggshells for the rest of our stay. We will be heading out to Gettysburg again in October, but will most likely be giving another Inn a chance.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at BHI. The accommodations and service were excellent and friendly. I will be returning soon and recommending to friends. Thank you Brian and Tess for a memorable stay. Not enough words to say on how much we enjoyed ourselves. Bravo Zulu!

Stayed at the Brickhouse Inn B&B for a visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield. We stayed in the Carriage House and completely loved it. Located in the back of the property though a lovely garden, the Carriage House provided us with seclusion and privacy. An additional bonus was that the parking lot is located in the back of the property it was easy to transport baggage from your vehicle into the room.
Our room was very clean and well-​decorated with a warm appeal. Breakfast was delicious and the service was exceptional. Breakfast was 3 courses, perfect for a day of exploring on the battlefield. There are snacks (baked goods) in the main house throughout the day as well as coffee, tea, and soda.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Brickhouse Inn and even decided to stay an extra night! We will definitely come back and stay here again.

Probably the best hospitality you could ever expect. Very accommodating and we are high maintenance. Great food nice people. Room was very clean every thing you need is there. Basically in the middle of town. A short walk to about everything. Loved it and we will be back.

I loved this bed and breakfast! Incredible breakfast in the mornings (fresh fruit cup, apple pancake and bacon the first day, fruit and yogurt with zucchini fritters and egg/​cornbread casserole the second day). Breakfast is always followed by home made dessert. :-) They keep iced tea and cookies out at all times so you can enjoy an afternoon snack on the front porch or in the garden, which we were happy to take advantage of. The landscaping was impressive!
Location gets a ⁴⁄₅: good proximity to one of the shopping streets and the Dobbin house, but a teeny bit far from the traffic circle where the main area is. Still walkable if you’re wearing comfortable footwear. Battle grounds are also on the far side of walkable, but you really are right in the middle of everything.
Our room was nice and clean, decorated nicely, but a bit small for us. Not too the point of being uncomfortable however. We were on the third floor, so I’m sure this is not the case for many of the rooms. All in all, I’d definitely come back if I’m in Gettysburg again!

Bryan and Tessa were gracious hosts. Loved the history of the inn. Before you start your journey, ask the staff for their recommendations. Melissa made arrangements for a docent led tour of the battlefield that we will be talking about forever. Great time in Gettysburg!

The Brickhouse is a lovely bed and breakfast with attractive furnishings and grounds. It is not inexpensive but the rooms are very comfortable and you will have a private bathroom and perhaps a balcony. The owners were a pleasure to meet and so helpful. They set us up with a great dinner reservation and a fantastic battlefield tour. Linens and towels are better quality than most hotels and the breakfast was ample and enjoyable. Lee did a wonderful job getting us settled and made us feel very welcome

Ah, I loved it!
It wasn’t right down-​town… but close enough.
Bryan and the female proprietor were both very accommodating and polite. The rooms, while small, each had their own bathroom which is a HUGE plus.
This is the perfect spot to get a Civil War feel from, I Highly recommend it if you’re looking.
Also, if you’re looking for a driving tour, ask for George, for a $ 5 booking fee, Bryan will set you up with him, it’s definitely the best way to see the battle field, and he was by far the best.

To borrow from Unilocal… Eek! Methinks not. Overpriced, underwhelmed. We rented the carriage house, the room was fine. Late arrival? No problem. Trouble started when we couldn’t find the keys left for us and had to dial the number passed on to us by the innkeeper. Ms. Snarkface didn’t really help set the tone for our stay, but we soldiered on. It was so late everything was closed and so we dined on some fine pizza down the road, but that’s hardly The Brickhouse’s fault. What is their fault is the totally awkward breakfast, hosted in the garden, where YOU ARE FORCED TO SIT WITH STRANGERS. Some people are into that, I get it. We aren’t. There were no ifs, ands, or buts, about it though — the staff set only a limited number of places (DESPITE EMPTY TABLES!) and that was that. Oh, and we got some doozies of the religious zealot variety.
OF COURSE WE DID.
So, awkward breakfast with a pair of duds. Then the food. Fruit in a martini glass. A little 2001, but fine, it was fresh and tasty. What came next was a toasted English muffin slathered in egg salad and topped off with melted shredded cheese, three slices of cheap-​o bacon on the side. Srsly? For $ 179 bucks a night? It was absolutely disgusting. Breakfast and the ‘tudes all around totally ruined our stay. Someone should take a brick to the Brickhouse, kapow.

This Inn was quaint and friendly. We were shown to our rooms promptly after the usual informal introductions to the (mom and pop) staff. There were wonderful cookies and hot tea or coffee on hand at all times. This was great because it was freezing the weekend we ventured to the battlefield. Our room was on the small size but with a nice private bathroom which was surprising given the age of the house. Room came equipped with TV, extra blankets and old school heater.
The breakfast was really great. We ate off antique looking china. There were several small tables in the parlor so that everyone could sit with their respected groups or mingle if they preferred. I think I ate waaayy too much but it was worth it, that warm plate got me through a cold day of walking.
This location is also very accessible to everything downtown. An easy walk to all the restaurants and shopping, although you have to drive to the battlefield but I think that is the case for all local hotels.
