I’ve been seeing Dr. Wadwekar for several years, and he’s great! Unlike other endocrinologists in the Valley with whom I’ve had experience, he takes a more conservative approach to your issues, at least initially, which I love. He’s extremely knowledgeable, and he takes your whole body into consideration. You’re not just a thyroid or a pancreas! Fianlly, I’ve never had a problem with his office communication. It’s unfortunate that a couple of people have had less than stellar experiences.

I’ve been a patient here for almost two years. After 1.5 years I was unable to get ahold of anyone on the phone and my RXs were never filled correctly or timely. The RX was for the wrong quantity and no refills were authorized despite being on RX for the foreseeable future.
There’s language barriers and now a new PA who won’t communicate despite having the ability to.
This was my first experience with an endocrinologist office and despite initially helping me, I will be looking for a new doctor long term.

My grandson was hospitalized after he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He is almost 5. He was released and referred to Dr. Holland at this center. My husband flew to AZ to help (he is Type 2 diabetic). He made a list of questions and went to the appointment with the kids. Dr Holland did not answer their questions. He only nodded and said «that’s interesting.» He was not open to any form of treatment other than prescribing the exact brand of medicine he uses for all his patients. This was a red flag since there are so many different treatments. He did not budge on the issue, even when asked about future medication adjustments. The dr also told my husband he was a Type 1 diabetic based on the medication names my husband told him he takes. He has been Type 2 for 12 years! Dr Holland, and maybe this entire center, are not the best choose for treating your beloved children. There is no room for vague explanations and arrogant assumptions when a child’s life is at stake.

This is my overall experience of this place with my wife for the past year. Watch out for some red flags on this practice such as Dr. Devendra Wadwekar saying what he has to say and not letting the patient ask any questions. It feels like he wants you in and out within 5 minutes of the appointment.
Another one is the pharmacy being confused on what is the correct prescription. Dr. Devendra Wadwekar does not communicate with the pharmacy well. After a year of treatment has gone by, we decided to ask for a second opinion with another doctor. We still had pending lab results and we have not officially signed off to another doctor by legal paper yet. On August 21, 2014 we have not heard from them for a week and a half. They did not make any attempt to call us back on the results on my wife’s lab work. They claimed «we did not receive the lab results» when we called them. We decided to call our second opinion doctor to see if Dr. Devedra Wadwekar faxed my wife’s doctor medical records yet. They have said no. So we went down to the East Valley Diabetes & Endocrinology P.L.C. facility to find out what is going on and we have asked for physical medical records since we do not want to deal with them anymore. They have claimed we cannot just ask for it when we called them 30 minutes ago and it would take 7 business days. Also, they tried to hard sale us claiming we can put the medical records on a CD for a fee and mail it to you. We said no and told them fax it to the second opinion doctor. I have a feeling they are going to be shady again and not fax it. Finally, we have arrived at the facility, we asked what is the results from my wife’s blood work. They finally bust out the lab paperwork and I thought to myself they claimed they do not have one on the phone. They just threw the paper at me and said, «here.» I look at the nurse and asked, «what does this mean?» This was all going by legal document that Dr. Devendra Wadwekar is suppose to know the details of my wife’s blood work and medical situation.
The East Valley Diabetes & Endocrinology P.L.C. is just out to get your money and patient’s care is not number one for them. If you plan to try them out, watch out for the signs. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who has diabetes or a thyroid issue. This is definitely a shady healthcare business.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Devendra Wadwekar’s for a year now and have dealt with some pretty aggravating stuff. I’m telling you guys, do NOT come to see this guy! If you want to feel like you’re not worth this guy’s time even though your insurance is paying a pretty penny to have him treat you, perhaps you should pay him a visit. He’ll have you in and out of there in five minutes — no joke.
When you first get to your appointment, they’ll weigh you and check your blood pressure but it’s all for looks. They write it down on a Post-​It note but nothing ever gets recorded on the computer or anything because Wadwekar will ask if you’ve gained/​lost weight when he clearly should have your charts at hand. Thanks for the professionalism. It’s cute how they like to add steps to make it feel like they care about you. After that, they’ll take you into a sparsely-​decorated room where you sit on plastic chairs and stare at the bare walls while listening to the maddening clock ticking away and hearing other people’s appointments because although their office is new, the walls are incredibly thin and there’s really no privacy. If you have questions, he’ll give you B.S. answers and have his hand on the door handle the whole time to try to rush you out. I don’t think he even knows my face after a year of seeing him.
Anyways, certain problems have risen in the last few appointments I’ve had with Wadwekar. At my last appointment, July 25^th, he had told me that my thyroid hormone was getting too low and to just stop taking Methimazole pills entirely for a month. Now I’m no medical expert by any means but I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t just stop taking medication completely. He told me to go a month without medication and to get blood work done in mid-​August where he «expects the Graves Disease to flair up and then we’ll take two pills a week.» August 21^st came around and I got my blood work done. In that span of time, I did a lot of serious thinking about how he’s treated me, the five-​minute appointments, and the complete lack of professionalism on his part. I started looking around for a new endocrinologist. A day after I got blood drawn, I asked them to send my medical records to another doctor [we’ll call her «Dr. A”] and this is when things get real sketchy.
Although I had asked them to fax my medical records to another place, I actually ran across one of my Unilocaler buddy’s review on another endocrinologist [we’ll call this doctor «Dr. B”]. I was sold and I’m ecstatic! I wanted them to stop with the faxing to Dr. A and to actually just give me my records so I can see Dr. B. It’s been 2.5 weeks since my lab work and I had expected Wadwekar to give me my results since I’m still technically his patient. Not a single call. I didn’t even know if they ever faxed Dr. A my records. So today I called Dr. A just to see if they ever got anything. Of course they didn’t. I called Wadwekar’s office to let them know that I was waiting for lab results which they said they never got even though I supplied a date of August 21^st and that I will be down to see them to grab my records.
I’ve never caught someone lying so much… and I work at a restaurant. People lie to me all the time to get free items! They lied and said they faxed Dr. A today. It’s not even a real concern for me since I want to see Dr. B but their lies weren’t warranted. Pushing things further, I asked about my lab results and they told me my results from July. I knew about my results already from my last appointment. I had asked specifically about my August results which they claimed on the phone that they’ll get faxed right away since they «never received it.» Upon face-​to-​face, they shoved my results at me [like I, a typical citizen with no medical knowledge, would know what this even means] and after a quick scan, I saw that they received my results on the 25^th of August. I thought they never got my results? Way to lie and not tell me my results, you salty salty people. I can tell they were ticked about me not wanting to be a patient. I asked what my results meant and after the assistant stormed off, she said, «The doctor said they’re okay and from now on go ask your new doctor.» Wow.
YOU guys told me to stop the pills almost two months ago. YOU guys were suppose to tell me my results. It’s been two months and my symptoms are coming back. YOU guys are suppose to be my doctor until my new doctor starts his care. MY insurance is paying YOU to treat me so stop your bull shit. Their lack of sympathy and professionalism for a patient that’s been under their care for a year is astounding. I’m glad I’m leaving. Don’t see this guy. He’s a joke and you’re clearly not worth his time but your money for his five minutes is perfectly fine.
I like how even at the end of the argument-​festival, Wadwekar never once came out to speak to me in my face and had his two assistants deal with me. Go you.
