Toyota-Scion of Gladstone – Service Department

I purchased a 4 Runner from this dealership. They had to bring it down from washigton. They told me they were doing an entire detail and go through it with a fine tooth comb. I requested a home delivery. During my inspection I notice a strange stain on the rear passenger cup holder. So I told them it needed to be cleaned before I would sign off on it. I was asked to bring it into service the next day. I showed up without letting the salesmen know. I wanted to see how service would treat a return customer. WOW was I blown away. My service rep. Told me to give him a second. I waited in the lobby. About ten mins went by and they called my name. I went and talked to him and he said sorry we tried everything possible. There is nothing we can do here but I can call someone out to get it clean. I told Austin my rep. Have him come out. I then explained that this was a brand new 4 Runner that I didn’t buy and I was going to refuse the delivery. Austin all of a sudden had an idea. He said wait a sec let me have another chance there might be something we haven’t tried. 5 mins later the stain was gone. WOW what in the world changed. Oh yeah they still owned the 4 Runner. Don’t by from this place. They take slime ball to new heights. Please really consider your other options. Maybe Royal Moore Toyota. Some one anyone else.

Unimpressed with gladstone so far in the two times I’ve been there. If the Toyota care wasn’t free I wouldn’t be going there.
Waits are long and the last time I went I told them specifically not to touch my rims and they did and scratched them. The guy in front wrote it down but the guy in back obviously didn’t read it, I mean it would have been less work not to rotate my tires.

They have completely updated their service bays and the waiting area. And, they brought back their free coffee!

Jenny from the purple team takes care of my 4Runner. I am always confident with the professional service I have received from Jenny and her team of mechanics. I always recommend them to my friends and neighbors and feel I am in good hands.

I have had all my service done on my Avalon at Gladstone Toyota. The last service was at 85,000 miles and the tires were suppose to be rotated. These are brand new tires purchased from Gladstone Toyota just about 5,000 miles ago. The Avalon is a front wheel drive car so you would expect the front tires to show tread wear more quickly then the rear tires. However when I went to pickup my car they hadn’t rotated the tires because they said the rear tires had worn more then the front tires. Reading some of these other reviews starts to make me wonder if I’m taking my car to the wrong place for service. Plus these guys don’t have anyone responding to the posts like they don’t have any pride in their service department

I was told an oil change with an appointment would be an hour, an hour and a half later no one had said anything to me so I went back out to the service area and asked a woman, a different person than checked me in, what the status of my oil change was. She had the paper work right there and said they had new people working and I asked what I had been waiting for and she said just for someone to come get me. She told me hurriedly that I had a screw in my tire, that I had no choice than to replace the whole tire. I told her I wasn’t going to do that today, and she told me my price and it was over double what the oil change with the coupon I had should have been, so I told her I just had the oil change with the coupon and she said the man who checked me in had me down for two or three other services I didn’t receive and she was already taking the charges off my bill. If I hadn’t been paying attention and just handed her my card I would have been charged for services I did not receive. I got back in my car and the air conditioning was on fully and it was completely off when I got there. I took my car to Les Schwab the next day and they patched up my tire for $ 12, much less than the $ 119 I was quoted at your dealership. I will never service my car here again and I am telling everyone I know to do the same.

Don’t take your car to this dealership for service!!! I took my truck in for an oil change and didn’t my vehicle back for 3 days (and $ 800.00 later). They checked my brakes, which I was having no problem with, but of course they thought I needed to change the pads. Ok, fine. That may indeed have been needed, but they broke a caliper while doing the job and charged me. When I went to pick it up (2 days later???) the brake peddle hit the floor board. They did all this work and didn’t test drive it?!?
Then, they made me keep it there 24 more hours stating that they needed that long to bleed the brakes?! I’m no mechanic, but I’ve had many brake jobs and bleeding the system takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
Bottom line., stay away from these crooks!!! For your safety and your pocket book!

I originally tried Broadway Toyota for regularly scheduled maintenance/​service on my 2007 Toyota Prius and was very disappointed. So, I tried Ron Tonkin next. They were pretty good, but I decided to check around on 60K maintenance and came across Gladstone (even though they are a little farther away for me). They gave me straight pricing on dealer recommended v. manufacturer recommended 60 K maintenance (they have a straight pricing sheet), easy to use website to schedule appts, and great service. They really stood apart from the others. Now, it is the only place I go for Toyota maintenance. I realize that dealership maintenance pricing tends to be higher than private repair shops, but this place almost justifies the extra cost. All of the service people I have dealt with have been 5 star.
My only complaint is that the waiting area should be better. Maybe it is under construction or something (hard to tell). In any event, if they are not currently updating it, I would recommend it.

Love the service department. Fast, friendly and efficient. To bad I have to pay $ 2 for coffee while I wait.

Who 5-​stars a dealership service department, right?
Well I was completely impressed by the service I received at the Gladstone Toyota service department. My car needed its 60K service and admittedly I’m really not a car person at all so most service trips are a pretty stressful experience for me because when the mechanic is standing there saying you need this new air filter or I can give you this service that will make your car drive on water, I never really know if he’s telling the truth or trying to rip me off.
So I called the Toyota service department and was able to get a very quick quote for how much the 60K service would cost. I was expecting something like $ 300-​$ 400 but it was $ 138. Admittedly my car has really low maintenance costs, but I was definitely pleased with how low the price was.
The next day I took my car in and they presented me with this two sided sheet of paper filled with all the different maintenance services they offer and the associated prices. They broke it down by the services that are «required» according to the owners manual for the basic service (included in the $ 138), a section of «dealer recommended» services and then some additional optional things, all with the associated mileage recommendations. It was really nice to have everything laid out like this with the prices. The guy explained what the dealer recommended services were in a way that was really matter of fact and not pushy, he crossed off the things that would have been a complete waste of money on my car, and when I said no thanks, he didn’t push the issue at all.
It took exactly as long as they said it would and he didn’t try to upsell me on anything after they’d looked over the car either. They actually knocked money off the price because one of the standard items didn’t need to be replaced.
The whole experience was very easy, stress free and cheap. And they have free wifi in the waiting room, which is the nice little perk that bumps them up to five stars.
Also thanks to the service price chart, now I know I can get my oil changed AND my tires rotated for less than what I pay for just an oil change at Oil Can Henry’s.

Here is a dealership to avoid.
I long suspected and now am confident that their service shop is doing unnecessary maintenance and is otherwise deceptive in marketing their service. I took my two vehicles here for the better part of ten years. Routine oil changes and the like.
As their business went down they started pushing «power flushes» and the like. More recently they have begun to aggressively identify «problems» with heavy labor price tags on grounds of things «looking» bad — minor leaks and normal aging of belts and seals. Recent inspections at rival dealers identified none of these problems. I bought tires at sold at an okay price but was assured that they were warranted for mileage. Now this dealer denies the tire warranty. So beware that the customer is considered a chump and cash cow here. I’m gone and you should be too.
