I like to say we are «one stop shopping» for most situations. Specializing in both interior and exterior painting and carpentry. I also offer; faux painting, decorative finishes, and murals. Being qualified as a Lead Safe Certified Firm we offer historical restoration and painting as well. Some of the carpentry services include, finished basements, built in units, trim, crown molding, and wainscoting just to name a few. We specialize in faux painting, hand-​painted furniture, murals and custom carpentry. On the commercial side I offer both restaurants and retailers a whole other set of additional services above and beyond the painting and carpentry. We offer logo design and sign fabrication, bar design and construction, and unique display options.

As a young boy, I grew up leaning the trade of painting and carpentry alongside my father and several other skilled professionals. Then, later in life, as a formally trained artist, the genesis of my company was deeply rooted in design-​oriented work. From Faux painting, decorative finishes, murals, to graphic design, signs, and fabrication. Adding to the already lifelong learned knowledge of painting and carpentry it all culminated into a full service, one-​stop shopping, type of contracting company able to provide both residential and commercial services. Business Owner

I put my name on this business, so I have to stand behind it with exceptional quality and customer service in everything I do. Having built this business from the ground up, it is deeply rooted in my art and design background and has been expanded on by my painting and carpentry experience and knowledge. Growing up, I painted and did all phases of carpentry with my father. In high school, every summer I painted dormitories at a local college. In college I trained in fine art and graphic design. While still in college I started freelancing using my artistic skills and did all types of painting from murals, signs, and furniture. This eventually evolved into me working as an Art Director for a large event planning company for over 12 years. During my time there, as side projects I started buying, rehabbing and flipping a few properties. Doing ALL the work myself, I learned all the aspects of home construction and contracting. And that is when Matthew Harkin Designs came to fruition.
