Baklava Factory

Wow… this is by far the best Baklava I have ever tasted. They take such care in prepping their delicacy. They’re pretty, look perfectly hand rolled and taste amazing, These baklava are made with simple syrup as opposed to honey. I personally enjoy the simple syrup version, which I understand is the Armenian recipe.
They have pistachio, almond, walnut and more. I will make this a regular stop from now on.
Two locations that I know of: Glendale and North Hollywood.

Baklava Factory is tucked away in a little strip mall on Colorado across the street from Ralph’s. The desserts here are beautiful. The lady is very kind and takes time explaining what all of these wonderful, exotic sweets are. The baklava is the best you can get. They also have tasty cannolis, eclairs, cream puffs, cookies, cakes, you name it! Oh and they have ice cream!!! Pistachio FTW! This is one of the best parts of Glendale!

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I’m sure their food is amazing, but they are soo RUDE! When my dad and I walked in, they were speaking in Armenian? didnt even acknowlege us. When they finally did, they seemed annoyed when I asked for one of each item… they apparently werent listening and rudely asked how many I wanted again. I decided to walk out. Talk about great customer service.

So many kinds! Found this place nearby after dinner and baklava is one of those things I would eat every day. Thankfully there’s none close to me. But they have so many kinds of little pastry things. My favorites were the Fingers and the Walnut Baklava. The size is perfect so that I can taste it without having to consume a billion calories.

Got a Groupon for this place. I love sugar and sweets and I have had Baklavas in the past so I was really looking forward to trying this place. I am not sure if I did it right, but they handed me an assorted box with the Groupon purchase — not sure if I was supposed to choose what I wanted. In the assorted box there was the Traditional Baklava (amazing!), Burma — Chocolate Sare (very bland), Baklava Fingers (very yummy), and Pistachio Kaidifi (kinda bland as well).
So in all, half were good and the other half were meh.

$ 12 for a pound of baklava which is about 9 – 13 pieces depending on which ones you pick.
I just tried the pistachio stringy one which was delicious and obviously the fat girl in me are the regular square walnut one. Ummmm double yum.
I’m not sure if those prices are good but I thought $ 25 for about 23 pieces was great!

Baklava is soo yummy. Several types to choose from.
Pistachio, almond, walnut, chocolate etc.
Reasonable prices.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
Have been a customer for 3 years and will continue to do so!

My review should be taken with a grain of salt. Part of it is due to personal preference and perhaps the other part is slight unfamiliarity with baklava pastries in general. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had baklava many many times from various locations (but mainly as desserts from restaurants). However, my detailed KNOWLEDGE of baklava is still in progress.
With that said, I’ve grown to love baklava so I was super excited when I was finally able to visit Baklava Factory. With a name like that you would expect amazing baklava, but unfortunately I was really disappointed.
I learned that not all baklava is sweetened with honey (my favorite). This shop has a lot of variety to offer but at least half of them were sweetened with syrup (thus the cheaper price I assume?).
VARIETY
This shop has a lot to offer. You can buy the pre-​packaged baklava sets which are priced by weight (they’re a variety pack so it’s convenient for a gift) or you can pick and choose and they’ll package it in a box anyway.
The lady working there had pretty limited English so I didn’t know if I was charged by piece or weight at the end (I opted to pick my own and have it packed in a box). She’ll tell you that each box is XX lbs, but you should just ignore that because she doesn’t give you an approx. of how many pieces is 1lb.
They also have a variety of cakes, cookies, and ice cream available at the shop. This almost felt like an all-​around bakery but with a giant baklava station planted in the middle
PRICE
I was told the fingers are about $ 0.85 and the regular baklava pcs are ~$ 1.25. I think it’s a fair price, I don’t think it’s cheap though, especially because a lot of it uses syrup instead of honey. The pieces that I did get that had honey had too little for my taste. It just had enough for the bottom of baklava to have honey, but it wasn’t dripping with honey like I’m used to. I had to add more honey when I got home.
THE BAKLAVA
The baklava looked beautiful. It was one of the crunchiest baklava’s I’ve ever had. However, there’s a good & bad to that. The issue was, the layers didn’t stick together well because each layer was so crunchy! You would have top pieces falling off the bottom nut layer in the box!
Here’s the part that disappointed me most. The syrup was just yuck to me. It wasn’t too sweet which was good, but it sure was OILY! So gross. Every time I bit into a baklava with syrup, it felt like oil was dripping from the edge of my mouth… I’m sure it was the «syrup» but when I wiped with a napkin, there was definite oil mixed into that. This was the FIRST oily baklava I’ve ever had and it was definitely nasty. Is this normal??? Even when you lifted the baklava up, you had this syrup-​oil mixture dripping down your hand. The texture felt like oil as well (syrup is just water + sugar boiled down and this did NOT feel like that).
I recommend the regular walnut baklava (square one). Normally I LOVE pistachio baklava, but pistachio baklava just DOES NOT WORK WITH SYRUP! Honey goes so much better with nuts… The birds nest ones were ok. The finger shaped birds nest one had a really strong flavor of cinnamon over any of the other pieces I had.
SERVICE
She wasn’t the nicest or most welcoming, but wasn’t really rude either. Her English was very limited so I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. Overall it was super confusing to try and order so just go in there and pick the baklavas you want or buy the box set to make it easy. Don’t expect any explanation of what anything is. Just read the signs.
I’ll give this shop another shot, but I’m not looking forward to it.

Tasty treats, affordable and good service! My neighbor is a frequent visitor of this bakery and hands out baked goods from here during the holidays every year. I finally decided to walk in and glad I did. The place is clean and well kept. In addition to baklava, there are other treats like cake. There are prepackaged goods you can buy or customize your own tray. Try a little bit of everything! I happen to walk in on a day while the owner was there and he made me feel very welcome.
Although there is free parking on site, it does get crowded since this shop is in a retailer center with another busy restaurant but there is usually no problem finding a spot in the underground lot.

Yum, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Baklava Factory when I had a little time to kill during my work day. Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy some cream filled baklava. Very flaky and sweet with the syrup they put on top, I absolutely loved it. The women who work here are really nice!

Admittedly this place has fantastic Baklava. However, they are cheating their customers. At $ 12/​lb — this Baklava is already the most expensive I’ve ever purchased. Then — I bought a prepackaged 1 & ½ lb package. Got it home — weighed it — packaging and all — and it is light by over 1oz. Beware!

I love Baklava and don’t think I have come across any in the US worth having again until I went to Baklava Factory last weekend!
Huge selection of baklava made with several types of nuts, a pound runs $ 11.99 which is about 12 pieces, so I think fair considering how much work goes into making it and that none of the ingredients (nuts, honey) are cheap by any means.
The lady working was very nice and every single one I purchased with better than the last.
Not too sweet, but still dripping with honey as they should be.
The nuts add the perfect crunch, I should have gotten more.
If you are anywhere in the area, this is the perfect spot for a sweet treat, I cannot wait to come back and stock up since they also keep very well.
Boxed nicely is a great present, support this location business, worth every penny and calorie, it is THAT good!

I’ve had Baklava Factory bookmarked forever! and have really been excited about getting here and purchasing some sweet treats. We finally made it here, their hours are great! Open until 930P and even 10P two nights of the week. You really can’t beat that! The selection and variety of baklava is impressive!
I was in Baklava heaven and super jazzed about this place, the guy working here — not so much! As friendly and excited as I was, did nothing for him. My boyfriend even mentioned it after we left which is pretty unusual. So, on the customer service front although he answered my questions he surely wasn’t the most welcoming or friendly person in town. It was 10 minutes to close but something tells me that had nothing to do with his disposition.
Now, onto the baklava… I came in specifically to purchase a gift for my grandma. We both love it and I am looking to surprise her with a special treat. Instead of buying by the pound $ 11.99 (around 13 pieces, I believe that’s what the guy said), he suggested their pre packaged. This option has a little bit of everything which is definitely what I was aiming for. I picked one of these up as the gift and then ordered a few other options for myself to indulge in. I asked what the best seller is, and was told the fingers so I tried one of these and a couple varieties of the traditional and one chocolate.
Again, I can’t even tell you how excited I was (this is when expectation can really fu** something up friends!).
We got into the car and I placed the gift in the backseat and quickly unwrapped my selections.
I was not impressed with any of them, at all and whomever thought chocolate on baklava was a good idea, is poorly mistaken! I’ve had so much better baklava from a few of my favorite restaurants (some, divvy hole in the wall joints). I was so disappointed :(I thought for sure something called Baklava Factory would be sensational. No! Not even close.
This is when I really wish I had tried some pieces prior to purchasing an entire tray full for my grandma. I am trying to figure out how I will tell her this is a gift where the thought must count, because the product is not impressive by any means.
I asked how long these will remain fresh and was told 3 weeks, so all I’m thinking at this point is what I chose must have been made 20 days ago. I have no other explanation for it other than it’s just not for me.
They had birds nest options which just recently became some of my favorite types but I’m thankful I didn’t try these here.
I wouldn’t recommend this place, but like everything different people have different taste. This style baklava in all of its variety, did nothing for me.

Had a voucher for $ 20 worth of goods for only $ 10! Got it on Amazon. The lady was a little confused about the voucher so she had to make a phone call to get clarification. It took awhile so I was starting to get annoyed.
Once she was clear about the voucher, I finally got my baklava.
I was going to give less stars, but I changed my mind cause I’ve been here before, and the service was always fine.
MANY baklava choices. Also many cookie choices. They even have candy I’ve never seen before.

I can’t help coming here to pick up some delicious pastries whenever I’m in Glendale. This was recommended by a coworker who suggested baklava after I mentioned how much I love sweets. I’ve never had baklava anywhere else, so I’ve got nothing to compare this to… All I know is that it’s one of the best pastries I’ve ever had! My favorites are the walnut and pistachio ones, but the variety here is quite large and I think everyone will find something they like here. There’s even a birds nest flavor! When I get home I love eating it with tea, ice cream, cream cheese, or just milk.
There is parking in the plaza and even underground parking (though I’ve never had to use it).

I love baklava and Baklava Factory definitely has the best! What makes this place better than others is variety! There are so many different types and flavors of baklava! Even better, the prices here are so reasonable that trying one of each is very affordable!
I hate to deduct any stars because I love this place so much but the parking situation here is horrible. Even if you do manage to find a parking spot here they are all so tight and hard to pull in/​out of.

Satisfied my baklava craving! It was my first time there and I’m glad that it’s by the pound and I got to choose what to try. Got an assortment and honestly liked them all. Favored the rolled ones and the original pistachio but really disliked the ones with wheat strings on top
Couldn’t stop munching on those honey nut pastries while watching a football game at Glendale HS on a Friday night

Doing some shopping in Glendale, I needed to take a coffee break, so I hit up my trusty Unilocal app to find a café. Instead, I find this, which immediately caugt my attention.
There’s a Baklava Land near my home, and they carry a decent selection of these sweet little Greek pastires, so I became very curious how this place would compare.
Upon entering, your eyes will be drawn to the enormous counter where many different varities of these little sweet honey drizzled pastries sit on display, all behind the safety of a glass barrier from sneezers & anxious hands.
They vary in size & shapes, containing different types of nuts like pistacios (of course) walnuts & almonds. Some cotain a hint of rose water, which I learned is fairly commonly used in baklavas. Placed on the glass in front of each type is a label describing what’s inside, which really helps a novice like myself. Still unable to decide, I followed an older woman and ordered some of the items she picked out.
The «fingers» were very good. They’re small, flaky and ligtly sweetened, which doesn’t mask the nutty flavor. It leaves a nice after taste that left me wanting more. One of the best I’ve had. I can easily go through a half dozen w/​o feeling like my teeth are rotting.
Also tried a few other types (cannot recall names as I just pointed to them) but they’re all flaky, crispy & nutty, tough some are sweeter than others. We also tried an item that resembles a trail mix bar. It contains chopped walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, pistachios & cranberries, all held together by a honey drizzle. Very nutty to say the least, and not too sweet. But you’ll need to floss afterwards.
Besdies its namesake items, they sell cakes, cookies, coffee drinks (espresso, caps) ice cream in some exotic flavors & what looks like imported Kit Kats (hazelnut flavor and crunch)
Tough they’re too far for me to drive just for baklavas, I look forward to another visit when I’m near Glendale.

It’s as good as Baklava gets for a non-​Armenian. Super nice and helpful lady behind the counter to hook you up with some delicious middle eastern sweets.
I don’t always have a sweet tooth and crave dessert, but when I do… I make it a baklava from this place. But mostly because I can’t find any baklava places in DTLA yet.
Finally, I’m pretty sure that any of these baklavas are at least twice as talented as the only other well known Armenian dish, Kim Kardashian. I still love ya, Yeezy!

I’m such a huge lover of baklava! I mean who isn’t? If you aren’t, then you must come to the Baklava Factory. Once you come here, you’ll never want to be without baklava. Yes, it’s that’s damn good.
It was my first time coming to this specific shopping center since I am in this area quite a bit, but there’s a Zankou Chicken right near it in case you need a landmark so you can turn into the parking lot.
Upon entering, the lady behind the counter was so kind and friendly. She was really answered my questions since I couldn’t make up my mind. I ended up getting 4 different kinds of baklava: almond caramel, traditional walnut, finger cashew, and chocolava with walnut and cinnamon flavors.
These are deadly. When I say deadly, I mean it. You eat one… and another… and another… and before you know it, half the box is gone! The baklava is so light, flakey, and crunchy. Each kind had the hint of flavors from the various types of nuts like cashew, walnut, pistachio, and almond. The flavor was really pronounced so you can just taste everything in it. My biggest gripe with baklava is that the bottom gets really soggy from the honey especially when it sits out for a while. It’s the kind that you order online or find in a store. However, soggy baklava does not exist here since everything is made fresh. Also, there was a perfect amount of honey and it didn’t overpower the taste of the baklava.
I recommend this place to everyone to get your baklava fix. I know I will be back considering I bought a 1lb. box it was gone within 24 hours… yes, it was that delicious. I think I need some baklava right now and I don’t have any!
