Dr. Lucio H. Kim, DDS

Dr. Kim is the BEST dentist I’ve been to and his office staff is amazing. They are punctual and you can be sure that you’ll be seen at your scheduled appointment time. That makes it so easy to plan my day so I don’t have to estimate that I’ll be at the doctor for a couple hours. They are efficient. Moreover, they are thorough. Dr. Kim is very professional and knowledgeable.
I lost my fear of the dentist when I started coming here. I have painless visits and always leave with great advice from Dr. Kim and his staff. No matter how far I’ve moved from this area, I still choose to come back to this office for regular check-​ups. If you are looking for a dentist, I can’t recommend his office enough!

Dr. Lucio Kim is awesome. He gave me a replacement filling and a replacement crown (so far). The whole process was fast, efficient, and painless (yes, painless!). I was especially amazed that I didn’t feel a thing from the shot for local anesthesia he administered. The whole process was just modestly uncomfortable but I think it’s primarily from the assistant who didn’t appear to be the best at suctioning. She was nice however, as are most of the staff at this office.
In addition, I think Dr. Kim is pretty good with questions and his office is good with communicating the costs. Dr. Kim did not try to up sell me which I find to be very important. He appeared honest and open about what I needed and don’t need, which I really appreciate.

Dr. Kim is the person to go to for your dental needs, without a doubt. About a month ago, I had severe pain in one of my molars. The pain was unbearable after a certain point, so I decided i needed to contact a dentist. I had recently moved to the neighborhood so at 3 in the morning I started calling local dental offices and leaving voice mails because I couldn’t take the pain any longer. Dr. Kim was the first to respond to my voice mail the next morning and after speaking to him on the phone I immediately knew that I didn’t even want to bother speaking to any other dentists. He was so friendly, professional, and accommodating. I told him about the amount of pain I was in and he told me that if I didn’t want to wait, I could go in right then (at 6:30 in the morning!) I couldn’t believe it. He inspected the infected tooth and gave me my options, and ultimately I decided to go with the root canal option. I had never had one before, and had heard NUMEROUS horror stories about the pain involved with getting a root canal. On the day of my root canal appointment, I let Dr. Kim know about how nervous I was, and he was amazing at putting my mind at ease. He talked me through the entire procedure, and during the procedure he kept checking up on me every few minutes or so, just to make sure I was still comfortable. Ultimately, thanks to Dr. Kim, my very first root canal was 100% pain free, and I could not have been happier with my experience at his office. Both he and his staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable, and they make going to the dentist a pleasant experience. Thanks Dr. Kim and staff!

Dr. Kim has been the only dentist who I feel has been 100% honest with me. I feel a lot of dentists try and push costly, unneeded, and possibly irreversible work on their patients, however Dr Kim has never done that with me. He gives real advice and explains the pros and cons of every option.
I have recommended Dr. Kim to all my family and friends.

I moved from NYC a year ago and have been searching for a dentist in Los Angeles for the past year. I had my first appointment today and Dr. Kim is the best dentist I have been to. The entire practice is so helpful. Dr. Kim is honest, helps problem solve and provides multiple options while giving his opinion. I’m so grateful I was referred to his practice. I will definitely be recommending him to friends and family!

Dr. Kim is the trusted and proven Dentist of my wife way before I even met wife. Knowing that my wife is very thorough, discipline and efficient, her compliments of Dr Kim as an excellent dentist and keeps a high standard of quality of work made me curious to test him out, so I did.
He seems to be straightforward initially but as you get to know him, he is just caring and purposeful with you since he just values and respects your time and keeps up strictly with his appointments on time with other clients! He will diagnose your teeth case like he is «one of the Avengers», meaning protects your teeth from decaying and saving your oral health to last for a long time.
In addition to that, he and his staff, specifically Bella, are wonderful in accommodating you and are patient with you to put you in schedule when you need emergency appointments!
My wife and I used to live in Burbank so Dr Kim used to be accessible but even though we moved to Simi Valley last year, we don’t mind the drive as long as we get to see Dr Kim and experience his like Super Hero dental work, just like one of the Avengers:-)

I have been going to Dr. Kim’s for the last 5 years and have been extremely happy with the care provided. The dental cleanings have been excellent, and the advice for my gum health has been spot on. Most importantly everyone I have recommended to Dr. Kim has also been happy with the care provided.
If you are new to the area or just looking to make a change I would highly recommend giving Dr. Kim and his team a try.

Dr. Kim was referred to me by a co-​worker of mine around five years ago because he has early start time hours. I found him to be friendly, thoughtful and extremely caring. He listens to what you say and his employees are wonderful — starting with Bella at the front desk and Chelsea (my hygienist).
My family feels the same way about the service!
My husband died recently and the office sent us a beautiful floral arrangement. It was an unexpected gesture that reflected their kindness and concern for us.
Now, this holiday weekend, Dr. Kim is coming to the rescue of another daughter who lives further away and who is having tooth problems!

I can’t speak highly enough about Dr. Kim and his staff. They are friendly, responsive, and attentive. Dr. Kim is both very kind and no-​nonsense. He took a look in my mouth and very quickly identified that a) I grind my teeth and b) that I have acid reflux problems. I had never had a dentist tell this to me. Based on his recommendations, I’ve taken steps to prevent both problems. His hygienists are also very friendly and efficient. They give helpful advice without making you feel guilty.
Another very unique thing about Dr. Kim is that he makes himself very available to his patients. You can reach him easily via phone or email at any time. It feels like you’re getting special treatment by a family friend and not some anonymous dentist.
I feel like I’m in competent, caring hands with Dr. Kim, and I’ll be with him for as long as I can.

I’ve been going to dentists for 50 years now. Dr. Kim has been my dentist for the last seven years. I think I have found the best dentist. I truly believe that he would not recommend any procedures that you do not need. For the last three years, I have had cleanings with no work. His words «Yes I see cracks but nothing that we need to deal with right now »

I’ve been going to Dr. Kim coming up soon on 10 years. I go for regular cleanings as well as some crown work. Stopped shopping for another dentist once I found Dr. Kim because I find him to be caring, personal, extremely competent and conservative in recommending procedures — in other words, he has never recommended anything that I felt was unnecessary (and I’ve seen other dentists who did procedures and products, so I know the difference). Dr. Kim’s staff is also great, and his office location is convenient for me. He’s a dad and we share stories about our kids, which I love. I have often recommended Dr. Kim’s services to friends and family.

We are thankful we have such a great dentist like Dr Kim. We love how friendly the staff are. The entire staff strives to provide the best patient satisfaction and we are grateful of their efforts!

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Kim for 4 years. We are both very happy that we found him in the local area through Unilocal after we moved to Glendale. He is caring and reliable. During the years, I have received different types of dental work and referral from Dr. Kim. All my experience has been pleasant and pain free! The health of my teeth has been improved over the course. I trust Dr. Kim and would definitely recommend him to my friends.

I’ve found Dr. Kim to be the best dentist I’ve ever had. Hands down. Not much more to say about it, I think he’s just really good at his job.

As nice as Dr Kim is, he suggested that I needed to get all four wisdom teeth removed, and five cavities filled when I needed less than half that much work. This was after I asked him to be conservative since I don’t have insurance. I couldn’t afford all of that and didn’t want the credit card his staff was pushing, so I waited. It’s been two years almost, and I finally have insurance. My new dentist removed ONE wisdom tooth and filled only two cavities, and this is with insurance– so he has no motive to be overly conservative. Dr Kim was definitely trying to sell me procedures I did not need to the tune of many thousands of dollars. Not cool at all.

Dr. Kim explained the nuts-​and-​bolts of cosmetic crowns and satisfied my questions.
Excellent bedside manner.
He is a little pricey, but the older crowd here knows that you «get what you pay for»

I have been going to Dr. Kim for the last couple of years. I had consulted with him about doing a lot of work and he in my opinion gave me fair advice. Overall my first impressions were good and I stuck with him. The amount of work I needed, was far too extensive and expensive to have done. Almost nothing is covered by insurance and because dental insurance in the US is poor it would take forever to make any progress.
So move forward a couple of years and after some bad luck I end up with some luck in the form of a friend that will pay for the work I need. However, due to the cost prohibitive nature of doing it in the US, I decided to have my work done in Costa Rica. I had a friend that lived there and he assured me it is just like here, only cheaper. So after researching it extensively I decided to consult with Dr. Kim about it.
He was instantly borderline knocking this decision. He implied that because it was a third world country I would not get quality parts etc. Now, while this alone was a bit offsetting to me, I did understand his desire to protect his business and maybe even to stand up for American Dentistry which is no doubts exceptional even if the insurance isn’t. So I brushed it off and kept him as my dentist.
I returned from part one of the work I am having done in Costa Rica and had a normal cleaning scheduled between the trips so I decided to leave that appointment and as an added bonus he could take a peek and give me a professional opinion. He is after all my dentist. So I get to the appointment, and before the cleaning one of his staff tells me I am due for updated X-Ray’s. Perfect, they will really be able to take a look. So they do and they finish the cleaning. They tell me Dr. Kim will come in and see me in a moment.
When he comes in and I tell him I have started the work, the first thing he asks is if I have a temporary denture for a missing tooth. When I say I do he seems a little disappointed and then starts to wrap up the visit without giving much attention. So I ask him how it is looking (I had had a bone graph so wanted to know how it was healing), the reply did not hit me at first, but he says, «I don’t know, I can’t see inside.» I said, oh well what about the gums and the healing, he just said looks fine and then exited the room.
Now it hit me later, if you recall, they had JUST taken new x-​rays, that I of course had to pay them to take. So if an x-​ray does not give you a view inside my mouth, what exactly does?
I had made my next cleaning appointment, but I will be canceling it. It became very apparent that because all of the major work to me would be done, he would not be able to make the money off me he thought he would originally. So suddenly I cannot be treated like a valued patient.
Well Dr. Kim, enjoy that last $ 79 you took from me. You did not earn the part that went to the X=Ray. You owed me your feedback since I paid for the service. Plus you lost any future business, and earned you this review posted here and on Google. Hope it was worth it. Next time you take an x-​ray of someone’s mouth, the response of «I can’t see inside» is not the right answer.
Side Note: As another person said the staff is very nice. Not nice enough to offset the greed of the Dr. though.

Before visiting Dr. Kim, I’ve always dreaded going to the dentist. I would put off dentist visits for months! My husband highly recommended Dr. Kim, but I was still skeptical. That is, until I actually made an appointment and followed through.
I love that Dr. Kim sits down and talks to you before every procedure and actually listens to your concerns. I told him that one injection of anesthesia never does much for me. I thought he was going to be dismissive, but he actually listened to me and gave me two shots! Made my appointment so much more relaxing.
I also love Bella, his receptionist, who was amazingly helpful when it came time for insurance/​payments.
Overall, just a very pleasant experience. I definitely don’t fear the dentist anymore!
