Payless Shoesource

I came here a few weeks ago with my sister looking for gold flats. I had gone to the store in Highland Park but they didn’t have my size so they directed me to this store because on the computer it said this store had some. The Highland Park Payless gave me a paper with the shoe description and a coupon since they didn’t have the shoes. We walked into the store and it was empty. The lady on the counter was looking down (I think at her phone) and said excitedly «Hi, welcome to… (she looked up and said in a unenthusiastic voice) Paylesss… «She seemed disappointed like she expected to see someone else. My sister and I just said hi and walked toward the back to see if they had my shoes. We had barely started looking at the shoes and she came running from the front of the store asking in a loud voice and rushing voice «ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMETHING? I CAN HELP YOU FIND IT» We had the printout from the other store and we told her we were looking for those shoes. The SKU, color, price, size, etc. was on the paper. We handed it over and she didn’t even look at it and asked «What kind of shoes?»
I was thinking Umm. Lady just look at the damn paper.
But I didn’t tell her anything I just described the shoe and she started looking for it. She found one that was size 6 ½ but I needed a 7. I told her it was too small. But she insisted I try it on because «You don’t know if it’ll fit you. Maybe it does and you don’t know it»
I knew it didn’t fit but I tried in on so she would shut up. Of course it didn’t fit so she continued looking and brought back a kids size shoe (it said Smart Fit –_​_​-​) in a different style and not even the same material. She insisted I try that one on because it might fit. I didn’t want to but again I tried it on anyways so maybe she could do her job and actually check the back to see if the shoe was there.
It fit fine but it was not the shoe I wanted (plus it was an ugly kid’s shoe!) so I lied and told her it didn’t fit. She walked around the aisle one last time and she began speaking in Armenian to a lady stocking up some shoes in between the aisles. I don’t know Armenian so I don’t know what she said but she sounded annoyed. She gave up searching after about 30 secs and she said «The store that told you should have called the store because sometimes the computer is wrong. We don’t have any so next time call before coming.»
The other lady on the floor also agreed with her and in an annoyed voice told me I should have called.
Neither of them ever checked the back or even checked the computer. We decided just to leave because they obviously weren’t going to check the back. We told her that we would try another store and she said ok and she started to walk away. We had to go after her and ask her to return the coupon we gave her which she didn’t seem to want to return. After we got our coupon, we left and ended up going to Ross a few stores down instead of going to another Payless. Definitely won’t be coming back.

For price, it maybe 4 stars but for customer service, it’s a zero or below star.
I went to purchase some dress shoes today ⁴⁄₂₈ Tuesday around 3:30 to 4pm. There were one or two staffs there. I chose some sandals for my girls and went to the cashier the lady was working on her papers even though I was right in front of the counter and she didn’t say anything. Don’t they teach like «customer first? «I will not coming back to this store.

My experience is over the phone only.: BUT that was enough for me and won’t be stepping in this particular store… Why Unilocal doesn’t have 0 stars? Anywho, I called today around 3pm and the first person that answer says, Hello… That is the correct way to answer a phone call right? Yes, at home not the a store where you work, I really thought I had the wrong number and had called someone’s home or cell. Anyways, me: is this Payless? Yes, how can I help you? Well, I’m looking for some rainboots… Her: can you hold on a second? I’m busy with another customer, Me: sure. So, someone else gets the phone, can I help you? Me: yes, I was looking on your website for FROZEN RAINBOOTS and it shows that your store has them available in the size I need. Employee: let me check… Are you sure it says that? Cause I’m here and I don’t have any. (so far, so good right?) me: really? I’m looking at the website right now and it does show that your store.(she doesn’t let me finish) well, ma’am I’m right here and I can’t see that I don’t have any so, who do you think it’s right…(did she just really say that?!) I got so mad that I said excuse me, I can’t even deal with you… You’re so stupid! And hang up. So, fine I was rude but boy these people need to take some customer classes every once in a while. … Because that was just awful!
One thing is sure, I bebe have and never will go to this particular store.

Every once in a while I find pretty awesome and cheap shoes here. Also the ladies working here are always friendly.

Helpful staff but never have any selection. For 4 months now they haven’t added ballet shoe sizes for kids… just same few sizes always left

Location was standard to all other Payless stores. The toddler sizes had a pretty slim selection. Customer service was a bit pushy with selling the bogo promotion, but had a nice personality.
