Red Carpet Wine & Spirits

No longer located in Glendale.

Unfortunately, they are moving to Arcadia so on my last visit, they had very little on hand. They will be missed. They had wine and beer tastings. Fine selection. Friendly staff. For the remainder of the year, check back in to see if they offer more sales on what remains.

It’s true, they are moving to Arcadia in 2014. It’s true, most of their hard liqour stock is gone. However they have a huge *huge* selection of cold craft beer. They still have beer and wine on tap. Hours on the post board said open from 10 am to 6 pm, but call to confirm.
I had a quick chat with the owner. They will be moving a block east from REI on Santa Clara Street. (Oh gurrl, outdoor stuff and booze! I’m in!) They specialize in harder to find liqour. From what limited stock they had on hand, I saw something I’ve looked for for years and never found — Larid’s 100% Apple Brandy. They also carry stuff from green bar — the only distillery (I’ve heard of) in LA.

This store is moving soon so the shelves are largely bare. Almost no inventory of wine though you might find a few good beers in the fridge. Also closes at 7pm which is way too early for LA. Might have been good once but not anymore.

We used Red Carpet Wine & Spirits as our beverage provider for our wedding. Ashley was AMAZING to work with! She was truly a breath of fresh air — we felt we could ask her questions about anything — alcohol related or not — and she would be able to provide great advice and recommendations.
Ashley took all of our feedback and interest in drinks and helped us come up with a beverage menu that felt like it was absolutely perfect: encapsulating us, and our event perfectly. Not to mention one of our signature cocktails was one that Ashley came up with on her own… which, by the way, our guests loved.
Ashley was incredibly fun to work with, our tasting was a blast, and beverage service was absolutely perfect on the day of our wedding.
Highly recommend!

I did love this neighborhood store but after my experience I’m not so sure… keep reading.
If you’re an IPA fan its hit or miss, but when you hit you have Pliny to choose from.. They also have wine and beer tastings!
I would have given an extra star, but last time I was in there I got a weird look from one of the employees. The look was like «who is this guy? «I’ve never seen him before“is he going to try to steal something?» Oh well i guess its the world we live in but c’mon I’ve never stolen anything my life!
Just a tip to the owner because that’s who I believe was looking at me weird-​Do not alienate your customers! Just because I come in once in a while and you haven’t seen be before doesn’t mean I’m going to do something.

Randomly came here to purchase some bottles of wine.
I was impressed with the selection of wines and beers :)
Employees were helpful and knowledgeable with their products.

Pluses: Convenient parking, easy to navigate, friendly, helpful, professional staff. Nice clean interior.
Minuses: No discounts here for sure. Almost everywhere is cheaper for ordinary wine or spirits. If you’re looking for something high end and specific, it’s a good place to try. If you just want a quick in and out/​convenience, and don’t mind paying say $ 10 more than you would at Mission or Topline, then it works.

i don’t know why… but i always remember the pleasant aroma of this shop…
the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful…
and whenever my family and i needed a bottle of something for a gift or special occasion, we knew we could most likely find it here.
they also have a large selection of cigars and a few goodies that go along with find spirits

What don’t they have here; beer, wine tons to select from lots and lots of rows of alcohol and they have great customer service too!

What happened? Are you closing Red Carpet? The cupboards are bare! Hate to update a 5-​star review down to a 2 — but wow! I was shocked at how little stock there was of actual spirits on my last visit (2÷25÷13) — even the wine selection was sad.
I walked in with a list of seven tequilas — and they only had one. The first employee I walked up to for help looked at the list, looked at the shelf and then said «oh I’ll get someone else to help you». After I was handed off to the next associate she looked at the list and then the shelves. Since they only had one tequila — I just left. As I was leaving I noticed the first associate, still in his Red Carpet apron stuffing pizza in his face in the wine tasting bar.
Something is up with this spot — hopefully a remodel — hopefully I just missed some sort of massive liquidation sale! No longer the best spot in town to purchase wine and spirits. Bummer.

I love going to Red Carpet. They have a great selection and everything in there is good. You could walk in with a blindfold, pick up a bottle and I can guaranteeit would be good!
If that isn’t good enough for you, they have their nifty tasting machine and you can do little $ 2 tastes to see if you like what you are buying or you end up buying a case of something because you like it so much (yes…this happened).
They have events as well, sign up for their email list and you will get the notifications.

Great place. Great selection of spirits, beers and wine! In house, wine and beer tastings.

This place has the absolutely best beer selection in the area. They also have local microbrews, like Eagle Rock Brewery. The management is also very knowledgeable about what they sell. For example, I was waiting in line to buy a couple beers that I had never seen before, and the manager knew exactly how they tasted and why he liked them.
They also have a wine tasting area, and I heard that they should start serving beer on tap soon. They also have some food to go along with the wine. My only complaint would be that I wish the wine tasting area was more separated from the rest of the store (kind of like Wine Expo in Santa Monica).

This is my favorite gift shop. Whenever I need a birthday/​chanukah/​christmas/​hostess gift, this is the first place I go and I never have to go anywhere else.
Huge selection of wines. That is their forte, but other liquors also have plenty of variety and the staff is knowledgeable on ALL of them. I have plenty of whiskey sipping friends, but I don’t know about it much myself. Told the guy what they like to drink and that I wanted to get them something nicer, but they wouldn’t normally pick out. I’ve struck gold with all the gifts. They’ve loved every drop.
They also have wine tastings and appetizers, I’ve never had either, but I expect they’ve be phenomenal.

Red Carpet is not in my immediate area, but I do my best to make it a point to stop in when I’m in the area, on the way somewhere nearby, or coming back from somewhere that puts me within distance of Red Carpet.
Good quality, prices, and rotating selection of beer, (though could be a bit better) and they also of course have a good selection of wines and spirits (check out some of the whiskies if your interested)
They will set aside bottles of some things if you call ahead, and have a good email/​newsletter list as well of new releases in stock too.
Also, 95% of their beer selection is refrigerated too, which is a great plus as well.
Great spot if you live locally, or are on the look out for new releases.

How the mighty have fallen…
I used to work for this boss who said, «A fish rots from the head.» I thought about that the last time I was there. It’s no wonder the best, most enthusiastic of the staff bolted to K&L Wine in Hollywood years ago. Their replacements seem the very dictionary definition of clueless. They don’t even seem to know WHERE stuff is in the store. Really, I’m supposed to wander aimlessly looking for it? I mean, the place is empty, you COULD just walk around the counter and take me to it. Even Vendome does that. No? Ah, well, I can see you’re busy with that crossword puzzle.
And the owner is a… Ah, what’s the word I’m looking for… it rhymes with «Grass Pole»… you know the word I’m talkin’ about? God! It’s right on the tip of my tongue! Anyway, never mind, it’ll come to me later. But yeah, he’s pretty insulting. Like, to your face. He thinks it’s funny. I guess he’s pretty comfortable with the middle aged crowd packing his wine tastings that he likes to insult the other customers. And it ain’t just me. I had friends in the neighborhood that abandoned Red Carpet because of the way this guy treated them.
It’s soooo depressing. Ten years ago these guys were the bomb. Now they’re just annoying pseudo aficionado’s who can’t tell a good tequila from a Budweiser. Here’s a clue fellas: Price is actually NOT a yardstick for quality. Wait, that doesn’t make any sense. They’ve actually gotten more expensive over the years. Gimme a bit and I’ll come back with a suitably snarky declarative. Sorry about that. My bad.
The Bottomline is… Topline! It’s a couple miles down the road. Go there. They’re friendly, they’ll help you pick out a bottle of vino to impress while staying in you budget, and the prices really can’t be beat.

How can you not love this place they filmed Crazy Stupid Love in here and I’m not even a Ryan Gosling fan lol. Joking aside this place is awesome they have a large variety of beers from ipa’s to Belgium style and beers from all over the world. They also have a large selection of spirits and wines which sucks for me cause i end up spending alot more money. haha
The staff here is really helpful and they always have great events to try new wines and foods.

Excellent selection, but the prices on spirits are not very good.
I can count on spirit prices being between $ 5-​$ 10 a bottle more. Wild Turkey Rye is $ 17 at several places and it’s $ 23 at Red Carpet. That’s just one example. I have a hard time justifying the extra cost. I’d rather shop at place like Barkeeper in Silverlake when I feel like subsidizing a place.
Also they happen to not carry several of my staples, and considering the prices, it’s not my go-​to liquor store even though it’s walking distance.

I went in for the wine tasting a couple of Friday’s ago (yes I am late in writing this) and we had a very good time.
The tasting bar held enough for about 20 people give or take with two servers. One of which a guy, can’t remember his name, but he was very knowledgeable on wine both in California and in France, which I thought was good, because I was comparing two different Rhone varietals.
The pricing was per glass ranging from $ 3.00 to $ 7.00 that night on some very nice wines. I chose two from the Châteauneuf-​du-​Pape region which I liked very much.
After we did some tastings we got stopped by one of the staff there, could have been the manager… this wasn’t my first tasting that night… hicc-​up. He was a nice guy who told us that they do beer tastings and have a BBQ in the parking lot for Oktoberfest. Which sounded pretty good, so that will be something to check out later this year.
They have a great selection of wine, beer and spirits, so if you are looking for something hard to find go there and they probably already have it in stock.
