Dr. Thein and his staff have reestablished my faith in the world of dentistry!
Ive suffered from major dental phobia for years thanks to one other dentist who butchered my mouth with his drill and another who literally nearly killed me, no joke!
After a lot of searching, review reading and asking for referrals I decided to make Dr Thein my regular dentist as Id remembered he had done a wisdom tooth extraction for me some years ago and it had been a pleasant experience.
So this past August I went in for a cleaning and have begun the process of repairing all the damage my last dentist caused. Dr Thein is very gentle and attentive to my fears. His assistants are both very nice, caring women and Cindy his receptionist is very friendly and warm! They are very thorough with their exam, x-​rays, photos and explanation of what needs to be done! Best of all the facility is spotless and up to date!

Excellent Service and caring. Easy to make appt. They work with you for late appts for working people. Clean facility and the nurses are very gentle when cleaning your teeth and taking xrays.

I came to Dr Thein after my previous dentist severely damaged my teeth and gums. I had gone to one of the cheapest dentists I could find, and I paid for it dearly. If I had gone to Dr Thein first, I would have saved myself a lot of money and suffering. It was one of the darkest times of my life and Dr Thein, Cindy, Ariana and Adriana, all welcomed me with open arms.
Some doctors are driven by money, some by ego, but Dr Thein is genuinely motivated by his pursuit of perfection. He does everything the right way, by the book yet with a touch of ingenuity. For my first gum operation he did what I now call a «gum sandwich» — opening my gums and stuffing them with the transplanted tissue to help preserve the triangle of gum between the teeth. It looked amazing — worlds better than any gum graft photos I found online.
Since I had a severe case, I was invited to be a part of the Periodontics and Implant Surgery Faculty Group Practice, which is run by Dr Thein and is also under the supervision of Dr Thein’s former mentor, and the former Director of UCLA Periodontics and Implant Surgery, Dr Barrie Kenney. If you are a patient of Dr Thein’s, you really are seeing the best of the best.
I was given an extremely fair set price for all the procedures I would need, and if I needed anything more, I would not be charged. The set price allowed Dr Thein to focus on his work and not be distracted by money. Due to his credentials, Dr Thein could easily have charged 2 to 3 times more. You can see his credentials here:
While placing my implant, Dr Thein encountered a problem due to a poorly attached bone graft that my previous dentist had done. The soft tissue of my gums had fused with my jaw bone and had to be painstakingly removed during a 4+ hour operation. This was not planned and I was not charged one extra dime.
I also had a wax mock up done by Dr Thein and his talented ceramist Stefan. In fact, I had two done. My mother didn’t like the first one (no fault of Dr Thein) and he had another one made for no extra charge. The teeth look fantastic and my mother is very happy.
A poorly installed implant can cause nerve damage, sinus damage and some just fall out. But if you go to Dr Thein, you will be in great hands and you can sleep well knowing you are getting the best dental care that modern dentistry can provide. He is an amazing value for what he brings to the table and I am very proud to say my new front teeth were done by Dr Thein.
This may have sounded like a too overwhelmingly good review to believe, but when you’re 42 and you come home one day with no front teeth and cut up gums, you find yourself praying just to find a doctor that’s competent and compassionate. With Dr Thein I got that and much more, and I’m very grateful.

My wife and I highly recommend Dr. Thein. I have been going to my local dentist for over 45 years and he retired. I did not realize how advanced dental care has evolved. Dr. Thein and his staff provided us first class service and I was able to actually see my teeth and x-​rays in a screen in front of me. This is pretty cool since I was going to the old school dentist where I just nod my head when he works on my teeth. I like Dr. Thein’s method of actually explaining and showing the status of my teeth. Cindy, Arianna, and Adriana were very nice and treated us kindly. We travel pretty far to see Dr. Thein and it is worth the trip. Glad we found him through a friend and the excellent internet reviews are justified.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Thein and his wonderful staff for many years. Going to the dentist is for the most part a stressful and ominous experience, but this is not the case with the amazing staff and service at Boston Dental Care. The amazing service begins even before you enter the office. Text messages are sent to remind you of your upcoming appointment, phone calls are made to check up on you after a procedure and smiles always greet you as you enter the office. Cindy is perhaps the most kind and joyful receptionist I have ever met. She spent many minutes on the phone with my insurance company today, a task no one enjoys, just to make sure I would be covered for my visit. Both nurses, whose names escape me at the moment, provide wonderful care. Finally, the care that Dr. Thein provides is beyond description. Regardless of the procedure, from simple cleanings to wisdom teeth removal, I am always confident that he will get the job done professionally and painlessly.
If you’re a patient of Dr. Thein and his wonderful staff you will find yourself in the odd position of actually wanting to see the dentist.

I hadn’t been to a dentist for a lot of years and broke a tooth on something in a bag of potato chips. Go figure. Anyway I went to see Dr. Thein and he took time to get a new crown and match the color so it was impossible to see. I can’t compare prices since I haven’t been to a dentist for a long time but Dr. Thein gave me great confidence in his knowledge and ability. I am now a regular customer.

Wow wow wow… I’d give them 10-​STARS if I could! I can’t even begin to tell you how lucky & grateful I feel to have found Dr. Thein and his amazing staff on Unilocal back in December 2012.
As you know… we all need ongoing dental care and it’s just so difficult to find a talented and trustworthy dentist. Well… I have finally found that dentist. Prior to meeting Dr. Thein, I didn’t realize how poorly my past dental work had been done until now. After seeing Dr. Thein, he was very honest about the work I needed and the length of time it would take to begin the process of getting a dental implant and other work done properly. I have to say I was very scared of this long process and what it would entail… but what really helped me was seeing what a perfectionist Dr. Thein really is. I had quite a few examinations with him and his team of experts and in-​office meetings to go over every single step and what to expect… so, I have to say I am blown away by his experience & knowledge in dentistry. But not only is he just a regular dentist… his education in the art of dental implants is quite extraordinary!!! He really is a true artist in his skill.
Another aspect I love about Dr. Thein’s office is his staff. The receptionist and dental assistants are amazing!!! I really love that we have become friends through these past 6 months. We all have had many laughs and they’ve catered to my somewhat neurotic, perfectionist needs quite well haha. :) I also have never felt like just another ‘number’ waiting to be seen in his office. They work on one patient at a time and give you all the attention so you’re not feeling like a herd of cattle being pushed through a field of grass.
All in all, I’m VERY pleased with Dr. Thein’s work on perfecting my smile, my ongoing treatment and his amazing staff and just the overall experience with Boston Dental Care! Anyone who gives them anything less than 5-​Stars is crazy in my book.

I had been told absolute horror stories about getting your wisdom teeth removed, however my experience here was quite contrary to what I heard.
The procedure was virtually painless and I had zero complications afterwards. If you go somewhere else it is possible you’ll have a displeasing experience, but you definitely will not if you go to Boston Dental Care.
As a satisfied patient of about thirteen years I can honestly say going to the dentist is an almost enjoyable experience. :)

HORRIBLE! I don’t see how this guy stays in business because he totally ripped me off! I scheduled my daughter and myself for a consultation for the same time and the same date because we both wanted to get the gaps between our front teeth fixed. I was told it would be $ 80-​, which is a lot, but I figured it would be worth it because he was the only dentist who didn’t immediately try to push Lumineers. Well, long story short, but he charged me $ 160– for our consults, even though he told us both the exact same thing and brought out some old broken wax impressions to show us. He completely dashed any hope we had of getting our teeth fixed because he gave us these outrageous price quotes for things that were HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper elsewhere (Zoom teeth whitening for $ 650?! Are you insane? It’s around $ 150– if you get a Groupon!). Plus, he wanted to charge hundreds so that he could do a «mock up» before the actual procedure, which I think he shouldn’t charge for. I wrote a letter of complaint to them (I spent a long time writing it, too!) and they never even followed up with me. Horrible customer service, and a waste of almost two hundred bucks, that a single mom like me could have spent on like, food and rent. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS (pun intended).

I’ve been seeing Dr. Thein for over 10 years, and though I now live over 200 miles from his office I refuse to find a new dentist. If there is a harder working, more current dentist in the business it would truly surprise me, as every time I come back he is using some brand new machine or has a new certificate on his wall. From braces to wisdom teeth extraction to cutting edge experimental procedures (one of which I will be forever grateful for, as the technique involved NOT breaking and resetting my jaw, which was common practice at the time) Dr. Thein can do it all! And if he can’t, he can refer you to an extremely capable colleague.
Aside from his technical ability and knowledge, he and his entire staff are super friendly and make every visit quite pleasant. They’re also incredibly efficient — I can’t remember ever spending more than an hour in his office. In short, if you want a dentist who is truly on the cutting edge, makes your visits quick and painless, and makes you feel about as ‘at home’ as you can in a dentist’s chair, then Dr. Thein is your man!

I have been a patient of Dr. Robert Thein since he took over the practice of my retiring dentist many years ago. I had always been a very squeamish dental patient since I’d had loads of cavities as a kid. Dr. Thein obviously sensed my fear and he put me completely at ease with his gentle, caring manner. He is thorough in his dental care, and I’ve never felt anything but confidence in his expertise as a dentist. I also find that his entire staff is equally as caring and each member always greets me with a warm, reassuring smile during each of my visits.
I would highly recommend Dr. Thein to anyone looking for a dentist because you can be assured that you’ll be in the very best of hands.

This will probably be my most useful review ever, so read up pals! My CV includes a 15 year stint in the dental field. I worked at 2 completely different types of dental practices, and I know good dental work and dentists from bad.
The first 3 years of my career, I worked as a receptionist for a multi-​practitioner office. Due to the fact that there were 4 owners trying to get rich quick, they were not about providing superb care, they were all about the bottom line.
I left there to work for a very well respected, ethical, caring, and competent dentist, and there I stayed for 12 years as his front office manager. When he retired, I was brutally thrust out into the cruel world of dentistry trying to find a new home for my chompers.
I didn’t have to look far, because Dr. Thein had always been a go-​to Dr. when I was the office manager. We would refer special cases to Dr. Thein, and he always covered for us when we were on vacation. If you are looking for a honest, reliable, extremely competent dentist, then Dr. Thein is your man! His staff is on their toes and Cindy, the front office manager, is always friendly and accommodating. Conservative care and friendly service.
I’m going to call now to make an appointment. This review reminded me how overdue I am for a checkup and cleaning. Oh shoot, I just remembered, they are closed on Fridays. Appointment making will have to wait until Monday.
