Our family started Shine Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry in 2011 because we wanted to offer patients something different – a dentist’s office that you can actually look forward to going to! Sure, we offer state-​of-​the art equipment and the latest technology. But it’s not all serious business here at Shine. Our fun, kid-​friendly office features monthly contests, tons of cool prizes, a game loft, and a play area for the kiddos. You’ll have such a great time, you may even be tempted to stick around after your appointment.

History

Established in 2011.

Dr. Jon Bolesta opened Shine in 2011 because he wanted to provide something different. You can expect excellent orthodontic and dental care at Shine, but also much more. Honesty and integrity are at our core so you can trust that every treatment that we recommend is actually needed. Our office features state of the art equipment and the latest technology to provide the very best care for you and your family. We also strive to be the most fun office you have ever been to. With monthly contests, prizes and chances to challenge Dr. Jon to one of our many games, you will be tempted to come early or stick around after your appointment. Once you step into Shine, you’ll see that we want you to have a great time while taking special care of your smile.

Our name Shine is a reference to Mathew 5:16. At Shine, we not only take good care of you and your family, we feel it is our obligation to make a positive difference in our community and around the world.

Dr. Bolesta and his wife Amie are originally from Portland, Oregon, but prefer the Arizona sunshine. He graduated from Oregon State then attended Oregon Health Sciences University where he received his dental degree. They were blessed with their daughter, Haylie, just before moving to Las Vegas to complete special training in orthodontics at UNLV. The family has made their home in the northwest valley since 2007 keeping busy practicing orthodontics, enjoying the area and getting to know great friends. The Bolestas recently added two new members to their family! They adopted Kaden and Jace from DR Congo and brought them home in June 2011.

Nice office and very kid friendly! There is a play area for kids, videos, etc. Also, the staff are all really good with kids and the behavior that can take place having small kids. Very gentle and patient during the exams and treatments. One recommendation is that they have a step stool in the bathroom so that small children can wash their hands. Wonderful experience!

Awesome concept, beautiful space. The kids can play before and after their appointments, and there are flat screen tvs (not the small ones that hurt your eyes to see either) above every chair.
The play area has foosball and air hockey table, basketball hoop and skeeball! I would say they need better waiting area seating, they almost seem to plain and uncomfortable for such a fancy office.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, my minis actually didn’t want to leave. I was happy to find out they do see adults for Ortho though!
It says something spectacular about a business that not afraid to show their faith!

Came to Phoenix for Christmas and my 5 year old son needed a cleaning. Someone at my parent’s church recommended Shine. Being a New Yorker, I’ve seen my far share of good and bad dentist. This place blew my expectations out of the water. Dr. Andersen was incredibly nice to my son (who hates dentists). He put him at ease and him feel very comfortable.
The office is top notch with all the latest technology. Each chair has its own tv which was playing a cartoon at the time. My son loved it and it provided an excellent distraction. Dr. Andersen put my son so much as ease that I was able to use their game room to pass the time. They had arcade basketball, skeet-​ball, air hockey and even an Xbox.
My son gave Dr. Andersen a glowing review and I highly recommend her and Shine for any child.

This is a great office, the staff and doctors are amazing!!! They seem to truly care about kids and parents alike. They have a new pediatric dentist, Dr. Anderson, and she is amazing and made us feel like family. When we were done she made my daughter feel as if she could do anything, which was sooooo appreciated! This office has it together, and I would recommend them 100%
Also, any negative reviews regarding Dr. V should be dismissed as he is no longer with the office.

I took my 4 year old here for his first check up. The office is nice and my son loved the slide and games, I wish I could say the same about the service. He saw the pediatric dentist, Dr. V. He isn’t personable nor does he seem as though he likes children even a little bit. My son seemed like a nusence to him and my son was so well behaved. He barely greeted me and when he found cavities, he seemed annoyed. He did not explain any procedure to me nor make me feel at ease or comfortable about any of it. He gave no other option other than putting my son to sleep and gave no reassurance about that. He even snapped at my well behaved son to pay attention because he naturally closed his mouth a couple times. As a parent, I want to feel comfortable with leaving my child in your hands and there was not one good vibe from this dentist. I took my son to Desert Dentistrt in Surprise and had a completely different experience with a dentist that made myself and my son comfortable, that does not put kids to sleep and that performed the procedure for less money! I was told how incredible my son was throughout it all. Shine has a nice office, but they need a better pediatrics dentist for sure. I wouldn’t trust my child with someone that seems to only be doing his job for money and has no real care for helping your child.

Was not a good experience. First time we went, I didn’t care for it. When I spoke to the girl cleaning the teeth, she said she wasn’t a dental hygienist, first flag :(I prefer a hygienist to clean my teeth, it’s very important to me, due to the specific training they do. I had to schedule for 2 minor fillings. The fillings weren’t deep, so he used no Novocain. He told my daughter «if it starts to hurt, raise your hand» to my daughter. While he was drilling, she raised her hand letting him know it hurt, and he said we’re almost done so he continued. The same thing happened for the second filling. While I was sitting there, I should have said something, and now I feel really bad for her. When we left, she said «Mom, I’ll make sure to brush my teeth really good, because that hurt so bad and I don’t want to go through that again». I didn’t feel she should have felt anything and felt really bad that it hurt her and was upset. I wouldn’t recommend them, especially for kids :(They shouldn’t have fear of going.

Awesome dental office! My daughter has special needs and she was treated with the best care! I am more than pleased with this place! They are willing to work with any budget and they don’t make the financial situation of the parents the defining factor in whether the child gets service or not. Both the front and back office staff are very pleasant! I highly recommend this place!
