Trader Joe’s

I want to give more stars, because I love Trader Joe’s as a company, but I had a weird experience at this location today. The cashier today started out very pleasant, but quickly went off the deep end into a long winded rant about my items that somehow transitioned into venting some of his rather fringe political positions. I don’t think the workplace is ever a place for politics, let alone a retail position. He took a while packing my items, and it was awkward. Something like this wouldn’t stop me from coming back since it was an isolated experience, but that being said, I think someone needs to step in and tell this guy to keep off his soap box at work before he says the wrong thing to the wrong person. That could go from somewhat awkward to an aggressive fight very quickly.

I love Trader Joe’s and everything about it. The only downfall– and this is a big one unfortunately, is how frequently popular items are out of stock or non-​orderable. I have had too many occasions now of driving out to the store for specific items and arriving only to find out that they are not even there. This gets old pretty quickly, especially when you go out of your way to go to TJ’s.
In regards to this location specifically… the parking is terrible. Besides the tight lot, the drivers in this area are completely obnoxious. I’m surprised that most of the shoppers here can afford cars upwards of 100k but don’t bother to invest in some driving lessons. #priorities

Trader Joe’s seriously does customer service right! I’m always super happy when I leave– whether it’s because of great service or because of the amazing things that they sell. In fact I feel lucky that I don’t need to wait in line like the Trader Joe’s in downtown, New York (where the entire store is literally a line).
Foods:
I’ve tried so many things (including almost all of their 2015 Pumpkin Line– obsessed) and I have to say the food and service bring me back. I highly highly highly recommend: their frozen foods, snacks, and their body products. My favorite snack is their seasonal «candy cane joe-joe’s” — they are like oreos but 100x better because they aren’t as sweet and they’re actually minty. I like to eat them with milk or crush them up and put them on ice cream!
Other:
Their body products are actually really awesome. I’ve tried their pumpkin body butter (smells amazing) and currently use their face soap. Everything is super cheap but really great.
Bacchus:
I know they’re known for their «2 buck Chuck» but I’ve tried several varieties and I find them better for cooking. I love my drinks super sweet (like ports/​bubblies/​moscato), and did not really like the wine– despite it’s great value.
Customer Service:
Fantastic! I sound super happy in this review just because I went earlier today and the staff was just super nice. They were helpful, polite, and genuinely talkative– and not in a fake way, either.
Will definitely keep trading at TJ’s.

I love this Trader Joe’s. All of the people who work there are friendly and helpful. They are the ideal Trader Joe’s employees in terms of their personalities. The location of this Trader Joe’s could be better, however. It is in a very busy and tight strip mall. Parking is terrible! I really hope that they will expand their parking or move somewhere else.

Last Sunday I watched a feature about Trader Joe’s and their unofficial (and unsanctioned) partner in Vancouver, BC, Pirate Joe’s. During the interview, the owner mentioned TJ’s Roasted Gorgonzola crackers, so I decided to try a box. They are good! I should also mention that when I visited TJ’s today, I discovered that they have a great price on Kind bars… if you’re a fan of those you’ll want to check that out. And yes, I do buy cat food at TJ’s and both of my cats love it. They get Ocean Fish Salmon & Rice Dinner as a treat, and occasionally as a very special treat, they get Tuna.

We go out of our way to shop here twice a month. The organic chicken breasts (sometimes they run out on the weekend), grass fed New Zealand cheddar, roasted almonds, wild salmon, coffee, wine and frozen pizza are all great values. Nicest staff I’ve ever encountered in a grocery store.

I love this place! The staff is super friendly, and they have an awesome selection. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The only downside is that the parking lot is always crowded, and I probably spend almost as much time trying to find a spot as I do actually shopping. But I always find great, high-​quality things here, so it’s worthwhile. Their pre-​made salads are amaaaaazing!

Not impressed with Trader Joe’s.
I couldn’t find anything in this store that I needed for basic food’s. Granted, many items that would be carried at Whole Foods are indeed cheaper here at Trader Joe’s, but there really isn’t much of a selection to choose from. And not everything sold at Trader Joe’s is exactly healthy choices.
Aldi has better and cheaper items for sure. Seriously.

What has been said about Trader Joes the store has been pretty much covered in other reviews. This is a very nice store and somewhat on the smaller side — nice staff. The real problem is that this is a store in a very small strip mall. Nothing wrong with the mall, but I think the issue is that (at least during busy periods, such as weekends), this lot is a nightmare. There’s more demand for Trader Joes than this mall lot can really handle at times. Other than that, it’s a fine Trader Joes as for the store itself.

Trader Joe’s is located in the neighborhood shopping center on the northeast corner of Waukegan Road and Lake. There is off-​street parking in a large lot, but I always find it crowded, with narrow parking spaces.
By grocery store standards, Trader Joe’s is small. There are limited choices for each type of item. Trader Joe’s has become my go-​to place for coffee and olive oil, as they are of excellent quality and reasonably priced. Consumer Reports has consistently rated their extra virgin olive oil as a best buy. As I continue to shop there, I find other items of high quality at good prices. For example, I recently bought their semisweet chocolate chips and thought they were great.
The only interaction I’ve had with employees has been at checkout. I’ve found them all to be quite friendly. One cautioned me that the coffee I was purchasing was whole beans and wasn’t ground, which was thoughtful.
Every once and awhile, I receive a small, tabloid, newsprint, sales flyer from Trader Joe’s in the mail. It’s written in a pleasant, informal style. I appreciate the flyer isn’t a slick marketing piece and that they spend their dollars wisely.
If you haven’t tried Trader Joe’s, I suggest you do. It’s an excellent neighborhood store with top quality items, priced well.

It has a great selection of fresh foods and meats. Everyone at the store is always very friendly and they all do there best to help you find anything. They are even willing to walk you all the way to the item they are looking for! Much better then going to a big box super market. Only thing is please stop moving around the isles! Not sure if they are just bored or need something to do I feel like its a game every time I go there as the store flips over every other week. Maybe Im just going insane but who knows.

One of the «older» Trader Joe’s and still one of the best. Some stock varies from store to store, but this place always seems to have stuff that other TJ’s don’t. Maybe it’s because it’s so easy to find things in the store — it’s laid out pretty well.
Helpful staff and even as busy as it is, the service is usually pretty quick. Though there are other TJ’s closer to where I live, I still consider this one my Trader Joe’s store.

Ahoy matey! Sorry, I had to say that since we are talking about Trader Joe’s! Everything is pirate/​trader themed in the store which makes the shopping experience fun. All of the employees wear colorful Hawaiian type shirts and are the friendliest people ever! I can’t say enough good things about Trader Joe’s.
I shop here on a regular basis and rarely am disappointed. I buy all of my groceries here and more since everything is fresh. You’ll end up walking out with more than what’s on your grocery list. kind of like what happens when you to go Target! I buy all of my meats here and never had a problem with spoiled meats. I also love buying snacks at TJ’s since they have amazing dried fruits, nuts, bars, etc. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is due to their produce. They don’t always have the freshest fruits and most of their vegetables are already prepackaged, but that doesn’t deter me from buying them.
I need to also mention that they have a huge wine and beer selection for affordable prices without compromising quality! So far I’ve only tried a couple wines but I plan to try more when I get the chance.
They also have an amazing return policy where if you aren’t satisfied with a product, you can return it for a full refund. How much better could it get? So get your bum over here if you aren’t already a regular!

This TJ’s is always super busy… They are usually always out of at least one thing I’m looking for. This last time it was kale… sigh… Just my luck I guess. I don’t much care for the layout of the store. It feels pretty cramped and the traffic flow sucks. The staff is usually pretty friendly and helpful.

Selection, staff and prices can’t be beat.
No — it’s not the size of Whole Food.
No — it’s not as ubiquitous as Dominicks.
No — it doesn’t have EVERYTHING…
But it does have some of the greatest prepared food, unusual packaged goods, and great value.

Closest Trader Joe’s to Evanston!
I don’t buy all my groceries from Trader Joe’s, but the staples here are:
— Dozen eggs ($ 1.29-$ 1.49 usually)
— ⁸⁰⁄₂₀ Ground beef ($ 1.99-$ 2.49/lb)
— Cereal (Joe’s O’s $ 1.99!)
— Cheeses
— Three-​buck Chuck (Charles Shaw White Zinfandel is great with most meals)
— Random bachelor-​type dinner things (Pizza dough, half-​cooked polenta, frozen foods, etc.)
Everything else seems cheaper in regular supermarkets or at Asian supermarkets (like H-​Mart).
Glad this is within 20 minutes driving from my place!

For me there are few stores that compare service wise to Trader Joe’s!
The staff is always friendly and helpful and I never wait long in a line.
The produce and baked goods are always fresh and you can’t beat the prices and selection on the wine and beers!
The sauces can be hit or miss but overall, they have great products!

Trader Joe’s wins the crown – Kerrygold Irish butter at $ 2.79 per eight-​ounce package. TWO SEVENTY-​NINE. That’s less than HALF the ludicrous six bucks which the Jewelz charge.
And this store is even on my direct route home from work. Congratulations, Trader Joe’s. You have secured my undying loyalty… at least when it comes to butter.
