The Pines At Genesee

We had our reception at the pines. Vivian was our planner throughout the whole process. She was awesome and a pleasure to work with. The venue was beautiful and our guests really enjoyed the mountain setting. You can bring your own alcohol which saves money. The food was very good. All the different packages allow for exactly what you want and helps you stay on budget. We looked at several venues, some in that same area and we are so happy we chose the pines.

My husband and I got married at The Pines in July of 2015. We wouldn’t have changed a thing!
The staff is incredibly helpful and even calming, I had a million and one questions that they handled quickly and professionally. Even though I asked about the worst case scenario, they had answers for all of them!
Having worked in the wedding industry for quite some time, I had a lot of do’s and don’ts in my mind, and of course I had a list of must haves and some absolutely nots. The only absolutely not that was on my list was sharing a venue, because they do book up to two events at a time, but it ended up not to even be an issue because we were the only event booked that evening! If there are two events, they do stagger the start times so there’s no confusion.
It rained, HARD, every day of the week leading up to the wedding. During our rehearsal I didn’t even ask people to go out to the actual venue to see it because it was raining so hard. So there were some nerved on my end the day of. But the staff had set up chairs on the first floor of the reception venue just in case, it even rained off and on the day of but it was beautifully sunny during the ceremony! I think the chairs were a good omen. Because of the rain, our DJ (who has worked at The Pines before) wanted to get there early to set up his backup equipment inside and they were very strict about not being in the building early. That was a bummer for him and for us because we were trying to be the moderators between the vendors. Thankfully it wasn’t an issue in the end.
Because The Pines does not have a liquor license, we purchased our own alcohol and saved LOADS of money. They provided the bartenders and our guests loved it! The food was outstanding and well worth what we paid.
The only thing I would ask them to change is their policy for scheduling the rehearsal. We have a lot of family who was traveling in from out of town, and restaurants want to have a reservation for large parties well in advance of the date. The Pines will not let you book your rehearsal until it is within a month of your wedding. That might sound like a long time, but when you send your wedding invites and people are trying to make travel arrangements months before the wedding we had to pray that the date we hoped we could do it and had booked the restaurant for, would actually work for The Pines!
It was much less expensive than most of the venues we looked at, and for the money we got more than we could have asked for.

This is an amazing event venue for any wedding reception, corporate party, or private party. The scenery is amazing, the food is awesome, and the service is top notch! The event team is on point and will make sure your event is a success!

Lindsay, one of the co-​owners, was great at responding promptly to any question. Vivian, who led us on our tour, was easy-​going and both ladies seemed helpful and easy to work with. I’ve had a friend marry here and they came highly recommended! So I was surprised when somehow my booking was lost the first time. We showed up for our tour and they had a wedding happening so no one could show us around. It did sound like my email did not go through to them and Lindsay was quick to respond to re-​schedule; however, when we re-​scheduled it turned out they had double-​booked our slot so at our tour there was a confused, irate couple wondering why no one knew they wanted to see the venue. Awkward. I’m hoping these are rare calendar/​email issues but just in case, make sure you confirm before your appointment. Both times I came, the GPS (when it worked, as reception was sporadic) got a little confused and turned down the wrong road. There also weren’t any clear signs where the building was, so important to consider for your guests.
Overall I found Pines to have some really interesting pros and cons. They have lots of different linens and napkins in many colours, china in different designs with all the glassware and flatware you need and these all come with your booking. However, they also have unpleasant white plastic chairs which don’t match the ambience. You can bring your own alcohol but must use their in-​house catering (which is customizable). They have panoramic floor-​to-​ceiling windows but on one floor half the view is a parking lot and on the other floor you get a nice meadow and the highway. Both levels come with gorgeous patios full of potted flowers but only one level has a grooms suite and bridal rooms were the smallest I saw of all the venues I visited. They have two beautiful outdoor terraces for ceremonies with gorgeous forest backdrops (this is what made me fall for them initially) but both have decently steep grades. And this is the only place where you can have your dogs; no dogs allowed inside. This is actually the one moment where our party felt a little put off. We were six total people at this visit, all dog people and all our dogs are in my wedding! I asked if there was a place dogs can go after the ceremony and was told, «They can go home.» Ok. Can we be a little more sensitive to our four-​legged members of the family? Maybe she didn’t mean it this way at all but it came out pretty rude. I could see on everyone’s faces that after that, we all lost interest.
Anyway, moving on… So they stagger events by two hours so there are never two weddings happening at the same time but they do host multiple receptions at the same time so you are sharing your venue. Guests have one entrance and follow signs pointing whichever way to the level of your reception. They have a reasonably-​priced Romance Package which includes nearly everything you’d need for your wedding. Overall their venue rate is lower than the average and without outlandish food or beverage minimums… The drive up was breath-​taking and I love that there’s plenty of forest for photos. In the end, there were too many deal-​breakers for us so we didn’t pick the Pines. I still think they’re a good place for an all-​inclusive wedding if you don’t need a lot of customization (which we really did) and don’t mind sharing with another wedding (this was a big no-​no for us). If you’re considering this venue, it’s good to have the above in mind before you check out in person.

Just had my wedding there! Absolutely gorgeous venue! Great food and the staff were amazing to work with. The whole night could not have gone better! Highly recommend this place! And they work with Double Exposure Photo Booth, also amazing to have at a wedding!

What a beautiful venue for a wedding. Very intimate and elegant, The Pines at Genesee is a great location for a small wedding. I attended a friend’s wedding here a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time. The view is just amazing and the reception was a blast. The ceremony, which was held on the grounds, was tucked away in a small corner down a cobblestone path. A bit too steep for my heels, I needed a hand getting down the hill and back up again. Thankfully my boyfriend was my date and escorted me to and from. I would highly recommend this location if you have a small, intimate and elegant wedding in mind with less than a hundred people in attendance.

I drove out here for a wedding. The ceremony took place in a brick floored outside gazebo-​esque area tucked away in the woods and overlooking the valley. A charming and flexible area that one could really do almost anything with. Afterwards, the reception was held inside. They building consists of a couple of floors and an outside area. There were about 40 guests, but it could easily have hosted twice as many. The service was excellent. Definitely check it out if you are planning for that special day.

FABULOUS! My husband and I got married in Westminster, and had the Pines cater our reception. First, we worked with Stephanie. She was so incredibly kind and understanding and helpful with all the planning and execution. We were quite particular about our menu, and were working on a limited budget, and Stephanie worked tirelessly for weeks to get it just right. Without her and the rest of the Pines staff, our big day would not have gone nearly as smoothly. She helped us with much more than the catering details, and kept us on time throughout the night. When the staff of our venue failed to be there for us, Stephanie and her staff were there making everything better. I will recommend the Pines, and especially Stephanie, to anyone planning a wedding or other large event requiring catering. Thanks again!

Ok so I was just a guest at the wedding but… the venue was beautiful. The food pretty good but the staff was very rude. I have never felt more unwelcome at an event. We were seated at a table that had to bee moved for the dance floor. OK that was fine but we 6 people were told to go and stand in the back. We requested chairs finally they brought them and placed them *(this is with 2 hours left to the reception)** they the staff placed the chairs. The placement was apparently problematic for the lead hostess/​servers because she grabbed 2 of the others and said right in front of us very hostility that these people and chairs have to move. Not in any way polite not any concern for the guests feelings nothing … now I will not be telling the bride or groom. But I have 4 daughters that all will be getting married in Colorado. … it will not be at the Pines. I will be sure to tell everyone that I find. Gets engaged that the pines is not the place to go.

This is a great place to have s conference or reception. The food is first class. The people are so caring and attentive. We have our annual church retreat here every year. The food is so consistent fresh on time and tasty. The center is clean and well kept. I can’t say enough. Great place for a conference or party.

My friend got married here recently, and I was fortunate enough to be part of the ceremony.
First of all, the location itself (Golden, CO) is absolutely beautiful. On the drive up, the view is breathtaking! Seeing the already snow-​capped mountains was a great experience, especially for my boyfriend who had never been to Colorado before.
The ceremony itself was gorgeous. It was so amazing to be able to see two of my friends unite in marriage in such a scenic location.
Unfortunately, it was outside and it was pretty cold. Plus, we all had to walk down a steep incline, which was treacherous in heels. Somehow, none of us fell! Finally, although I got to hear the vows, no one in the audience did; apparently the microphones/​speakers weren’t working, which meant no one heard anything that was said unless they were standing at the front.
Also, when I got there for the practice, there was no signage telling you where to go. Similarly, when my boyfriend got there for the ceremony, he went inside because there was no signage saying otherwise — the photographer said, «we usually don’t let guests come inside.» Okay, sorry? He had no idea where to go! Also, getting a cab to and from the venue was quite a headache because my phone didn’t have reception in or around the venue.
The reception was really nice. The indoor area was great for dancing!
Overall, not a bad venue! It was a truly beautiful wedding. I think there were a few glitches that prevent me from reviewing the venue itself higher. Still, not bad, and it is a beautiful location.

I cannot sing enough praise for The Pines At Genesee. If you are getting married, save yourself all the stress and worry and book with the Pines.
We worked with Lindsay (the co-​owner) and I am convinced that she is the best wedding gift I could ever receive during the planning process. She is a breath of fresh air and is amazingly prompt at returning emails and phone calls. This is something that is worth its weight in gold during wedding planning.
Lindsay was with us every step of the way. When we went in for our visit, we were shown the two terraces (Aspen is below, Evergreen is above) and were shown the two levels available for the reception. We opted for the Aspen terrace and the lower level because of the gorgeous dark hardwood floors and the beautiful Aspen trees behind the windows.
Tastings are done monthly and they are like a big party. I loved going to them and sampling different items before choosing our menu. We were also able to meet our vendors that way.
Go for the Romance Package. It is the best bang for your buck. We got basically all of our vendors covered in one shot. It was amazing. We were also able to relax knowing that our vendors were recommended by our venue and that they work with them on a regular basis. Bonus! The Pines follows up with all of your vendors for you!
Come the day of our wedding things could not have gone more smoothly. I was greeted with a huge hug and smile from Lindsay and felt at ease. I was able to enjoy my wedding day and spend time with my loved ones. I was never once bothered with details and had a wonderful time. The Pines is a true gem and I love them! I would definitely use them again for any party I am planning and will always send my newly engaged friends their way.

We recently used The Pines for some drop-​off catering up on Lookout Mountain. Nothing fancy, just an all-​day business meeting. Stephanie, our contact, was so responsive and easy to work with, and help with selections that were easy and appropriate for the event. The delivery person was just great – friendly, professional, and he didn’t just drop off the food on trays. He went the extra mile, setting it up, making sure the food wasn’t just there, but presented. It looked – and tasted – amazing. Best chicken sandwich I’ve had! I would most definitely call them again for future events, personal or business.

This place was beautiful! I was a guest at a wedding this past Saturday and was blown away by the service, Carlos and Lindsey were WONDERFUL, OUTSTANDING!!! I have a gluten allergy and they went above and beyond for me, with out bothering the bride and groom! :) They were kind and caring and just so helpful, I have never experienced that at a wedding/​catering venue. The food was so delicious!!! Thank you so much to the both Carlos and Lindsey for making the night so special for everyone who attended, I won’t forget you excellent service! Carlos is the man!!! :)

We recently used this catering company for our wedding because they were the most affordable, but nothing at all was compromised throughout the process. Stephanie was the individual we worked with throughout the entire planning process and she was great to work with. They had no issues regarding budget, travel, or any dietary restrictions that came up. Come day of she went above and beyond and helped not only with the catering but also assisting anybody that needed assistance. I would highly recommend her and the Pines catering staff to anybody, they are both extremely professional and very friendly to work with.

We had our wedding at the pines after speaking with several other venues. They were organized and flexible. Reagan was our coordinator and very prepared and professional. They were responsive and the day went very well. We loved our wedding day and would recommend the catering or the venue to all of our friends.

I’ve working in the event business so I know a little something. Stay far far away from this venue. Until its under new management, steer clear. My husband and I got swept off our feet by the beautiful location, but on the day of the wedding, they could not have been more unprofessional and downright rude, if they had tried. The coordinator assigned to our wedding made my 81 year old grandmother stand outside in the cold for a half an hour, because the ceremony had been changed from outside to inside at the last minute, and told her that guests weren’t allowed inside early, because we had only paid for a certain amount of time. Said coordinator then went on to accuse my husband and my brother of stealing food… food that we had paid for. In the aftermath, we felt nickel and dimed the entire way through the process, and bullied on a day that was supposed to be perfect. (Or nearly, anyways.) beware.

It’s really hard to review your own wedding venue, because it’s not like you have a variety of other places you’ve gotten married to compare them too. That said, we got married at The Pines at Genesee last May and obviously the getting married part was great, but we were pretty happy with the venue as well.
The location, not too far from Denver, is great; access from I-​70 is easy although signage is a little lacking. Views of the mountains make you feel farther away from the city than you really are, but it’s close enough that your out-​of-​town guests won’t have to get an expensive mountain hotel.
There are two outside ceremony sites here– the Evergreen Terrace and the Aspen Terrace. Both are quite pretty, but the grade up to the Evergreen Terrace is pretty steep, and I had a hard time imagining how I would do it in heels. If you reserve a terrace you’ll also be set up with an indoor ceremony backup plan. As it was forty degrees and raining on our wedding day, this was a really good thing, and I would highly recommend that all brides make sure their venue has some sort of a back-​up plan. Your reception can be on the upper level or the lower level. We had ours on the upper level because I preferred the layout, but the lower level has been remodeled with absolutely gorgeous floors– we had our ceremony down there and it was beautiful.
Organizationally, you can’t get much better than this. Lindsay is fantastic at keeping everything running smoothly starting from your reservation all the way to being your day-​of coordinator. Everything magically appeared in the set-​up hour and I didn’t have to answer questions on the day of about the favors, photobooth, flowers, or anything. Everything is customizable and you have your choice of decorations, linens, various layouts, etc. They don’t nickel and dime you too much, which means you get unlimited linens, chairs, china, flatware, etc. They have a recommended list of vendors but they don’t limit you to them. You also get to bring your own alcohol, which saves quite a bit of money. The bridal ready room and bathrooms are both nice, and while there isn’t a room specifically for the guys to get ready, you can convert one of the other rooms for that purpose if you don’t need it for your reception.
Unlike most caterers, the food here is actually very good. You have a lot of options at every course and a lot of menu options to fit your budget. They have free tastings monthly so you can get an idea of what you like. Personally, I can vouch for the cheese board, crispy artichoke and bruschetta appetizers, any of the mashed potatoes, the stuffed trout, and the steak au poivre.
A few cons: Prices are reasonable, but I would budget the extra hour of reception for $ 500 into your plans– it would have felt very short otherwise. You can’t schedule your rehearsal until about a month before, which can make arranging everyone’s travel plans a bit tricky. The upstairs level décor feels a bit generic, but that’s nothing a good florist and lighting can’t fix. My only real problem was with the servers clearing drinks too quickly, even at the sweetheart table– I lost a few glasses of wine (and my champagne) after only a few sips. They also told us that we were out of champagne a half hour or so after the toast, but when the liquor was returned to us, we had nine bottles left, so that was odd.
Overall, I was very happy with the Pines, and I would definitely recommend it. It’s not perfect, but it’s in a convenient location, is very pretty, has good food, has great views and is extremely well coordinated, all for a pretty reasonable price, so I don’t think you can ask for much more.

I personally would never have a wedding here; the interior of the building reminds me of a corporate meeting room, which just isn’t my thing. The facility itself is in a corporate business park so there just isn’t much on the ambiance front, and I think that is quite important for a wedding. Also, the view to the west is absolutely breathtaking– I literally gasped while driving here. And yet, this venue is situated to view the east, which is just a view of downtown Denver, and pales in comparison to the unseen view of the western mountains.
There are two outdoor ceremony venues here, both with landscaped clearings with rock pathways and rustic wooden «gazebos» (I cannot think of a better word). The path to the upper ceremony site is quite a grade, though– I cannot imagine doing that in a wedding dress, but people obviously manage it.
I was here to perform at a wedding ceremony, and I was impressed with the staff before I ever arrived. Firstly, they had the foresight to ask the bride and groom who was providing the music, asked for my contact information, and called me a week before the wedding to confirm my playlist, my pacing, my arrival time, etc. No event site has ever done this before, so it was great to know that they knew who I was and what my roll was.
When I arrived, the same woman who spoke to me on the phone was on site to welcome me, give me last minute details, (as specific as, ad lib a few additional seconds to allow time for an aisle runner to be pulled, etc), and show me where to go. Lindsay, the coordinator, told me that she would be starting the wedding right at the listed ceremony start time. I told her how unusual that was, for a wedding to start on time. «Yeah.» she replied «we don’t let weddings start late here». I have never been at a site so well coordinated or responsive. Just like she said, the wedding started on time, and 15 minutes later I was on my way home. Although this wouldn’t be my idea of a perfect place for a wedding, it certainly is the most coordinated event site I have ever been to.

My daughter is getting married on May 18^th 2008. I didn’t want to go that far because of our out of town guest. I am very happy she and her husband to be choose this place. It is so beautiful. The wedding will be out doors on the terrace if weather permits, and the food is wonderful. I have gone up for two tastings and I was so impressed.
Jean, is so wonderful to work with and seem to have a real talent for making sure everything is organized. I am so looking forward to the wedding. Our guest will be very impress.
