History

Established in 1958.

John Griffin started the business in 1958 on Fairview Ave. in Goleta. In 1963 it was moved to it’s current location on the airport. John retired in 1976 and sold the business to Albert Rump, who in turn sold it to Ken Hall in 1986. Ken had started a trailer haul concrete business in 1975 on Fairview ave, and after buying Goleta Building Materials blended the businesses into the airport location.

Ken celebrated his 40th year in business this year, and still works part-​time. His son Adam Hall has assumed most management responsibilities for day to day operations.

Be sure and shop around the competition before buying here. I’ve been finding their prices to be on the high end and with delivery fees that seem a bit excessive.

DO NOT USE — they have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff HOWEVER they have the WORST follow up and follow through EVER. I went to their yard and spent about 1 hour getting everything selected for my yard. David– one of the staff members came to my house to measure, and he was going to rework the estimate. About a week later I called the office (as I hadn’t heard back from David) and left a message and I NEVER heard back from them. I finally went back to the yard and David had LOST all the paperwork and I had to start ALL OVER again. .. David PROMISED delivery this morning at 7AM, when I finally called at 8AM to find out if they were coming, he LIED to me and said they were stuck in traffic due to the schools. . when I asked him what time the truck left their yard, he said he’d get back to me. About a half hour later the DRIVER called to say he was on his way…as THEY hadn’t left the yard yet…The driver said that the office shouldn’t make promises. . blah blah blah…so needless to say I asked that the owner Ken Hall give me a call.. . right after I cancelled my $ 3K order!

Not sure what the first reviewer’s beef is… sounds personal. As far as my story, I just wanted to lay some flagstone myself – separated with moss growing in between around my spa. I checked a couple different options between SB and Goleta and found this place and had extremely good customer service. I am a layman trying to DIY my backyard and I found this place to be what I needed. Home Depot had flagstone that wasn’t very quality IMO. This place did, with advice offered that I needed. How many places do you find where you have to ask the right questions? Defeats the purpose, right? Liked it here for that reason.
