Traveling south from Sacramento Christmas Eve our «check engine» light came on. I searched for a repair shop that would have the equipment to diagnose the problem. Even though he was getting ready to go home and be with his family, Darby agreed to check it out. It turned out to be something that could wait and he sent us on our way for no charge and a «Merry Christmas».
Mahneke Motors sure helped us continue on with a joyful attitude to celebrate with family. Thanks guys!

It was recommended that my car receive several new parts… One of which was an air filter and after inquiring, they said the air filter would be $ 50 and then squabbled amongst over the remaining services. I left pretty quickly after that.
I then went to see Darby at Mahneke. Darby asked a few questions about my car, then did a quick inspection. He explained why all of the previous recommendations were not needed and advised why others were definitely needed. I use my intuition and common sense when getting my car serviced. The difference between the two garages were huge and I was immediately assuaged that I found a great mechanic. He patiently answered my questions and showed me the engines parts that needed replacing. One more thing…
The axle that Darby installed a year ago was warrantied to 12,000 and I had just put on another 15,000. Darby said no problem and got another new Subaru axle installed within 2 hours… free of charge! I was out of warranty so he didn’t have to do that but, honestly, that’s the kind of service you get at Mahneke.

Can’t say enough good things about Mahneke. We took our car in earlier this week and picked it up yesterday. They’ve been working on our car since we got it. Darby is extremely hard working and doesn’t stop until everything is taken care of. He gets us in and out in good time and is so easy to work with. I’d recommend Mahneke to anyone in need of auto repair!

Darby put a new engine in my ’89 Aerostar and it runs great. Excellent mpg on a recent trip to Monterey from Santa Barbara without the dang ‘engine light’ goin’ on every time I come to a stop ;)
If you have an older car or truck you want brought up to spec, Mahneke is the place to go with great customer service from Maureen at the front desk and ‘Big Al’ working with Darby in the shop. Most important, I feel safe driving knowing my 25 year old truck is up to spec.

I had Mahneke replace all the fluids (AT, steering, coolant) on my classic (read ancient but clean) Lexus, as well as get rid of the constantly on airbag light. They were very helpful and professional with doing the work. The mechanic also clued me in to an exhaust gasket failure I would have to repair to pass the smog check. I came back because I had thought the power steering hydraulic system was making noise but it was determined what I was hearing was the automatic air conditioning clutch. Very helpful and knowledgeable mechanics. As a woman I frequently feel like mechanics are trying to get me to do excessive work, I did not feel that way with Mahneke. I would be comfortable with using them again, and will.

I drive a turbo Subaru, and I always get sketched out at going to non-​subaru specialists to get my car looked at. I asked around local Subaru owners and was recommended to this place.
Making an appointment was easy, phone call and they worked around my schedule.
I needed to hitch a ride back to the office, they were able to help me — they use your car to drop you off.
They called to let me know what the status of my vehicle was (it was in for an oil change)…gave me a thorough report.
I was happy with the level of service. I felt like their pricing was fair. Overall, really happy with their professionalism and quickness to get my car returned to me. Very nice group of people.
