Rob’s 4 Wheel Drive & Fab

I have a 2002 yukon since new. It has 300k miles on it now. I was thinking of lifting it. Rob was brutally honest and said as soon as I lift it the transmission would probably die soon after. I decided against lifting it but most businesses would have lifted it and taken my money without warning me about the transmission. Because of his honesty I will do business with him in the future.

Nothing beats Rob! He can be busy at times, but nothing can beat his honesty, integrity, and general concern for what is best for the customer.

Have had Rob for a Mechanic for over 8 years now, guy is awesome, honest guy, always trust him to do the best job.

I have had Rob perform several repairs and service on my vehicles. He has always given me a complete description and rundown of the work that needs to be performed and I’ve found him to be very honest. Rob’s work is always done well and his prices are very fair. His shop is a «one-​man-​operation» so it is always best to phone ahead to schedule any work that needs to be done, yet he makes sure to get the repairs done in a timely manner. If you have any AWD or 4X4 issues be sure to take your vehicle to Rob.

I took my truck to Rob’s Four Wheel Drive shop in Goleta because I had been referred to him by other people who said he did good work. The suspension on my truck needed to be replaced, leaf springs and shocks. I figured he was the guy for the job. Boy was I wrong, I mean maybe he does a good job when he actually gets around to it… I went to Rob over six weeks ago and he took the information for my truck down so he could order parts. Little did I know this was the beginning of a long and painful road of non-​communication. I understand people get busy and can’t answer your call right away the same day, but what happened to me was ridiculous! I would call and leave a message and he wouldn’t return my call for a week, sometimes two weeks. I felt like I was bothering him with my business, like I had to beg to get my truck fixed by him. I really felt neglected and that’s the honest truth. Maybe Rob is good at what he does. Maybe he’s so swamped with business that he doesn’t have time to work on my truck. I’ll never know because he doesn’t communicate. I’ve finally given up on him and decided to take my business elsewhere. This was a huge waste of my time and effort. I wouldn’t recommend coming here because if your experience is anything like mine was it will be very frustrating.

When I first moved to Santa Barbara I took my Jeep to the dealership for a routine oil change (or at least what I thought). After dropping off my car the dealership told me I needed 1000 dollars worth of work done which had already been completed before I moved. I picked up my car and took it to Rob on a recommendation from a buddy. Rob looked the car over and told me the only thing that needed to be done was a new air filter along with the oil change. Since that day I have taken my jeep (2000 TJ) to him for everything and now drive from LA to get my car serviced just for the piece of mind. If you want an honest mechanic with no BS 4Wheel Drive is your place.

Rob is by far the best mechanic I have ever taken my Jeep to. He diagnosed problems that no other shops or even the dealer could figure out. Wonderful service, environment and very fair pricing. The only shop I will ever use for my car.

If you have a Jeep /​Off road vehicle /​truck (and yes, normal cars too) then Rob is your guy. The only honest mechanic left. The only guy who services my old jeep and I kid you not, I just drop it off and pay what he tells me. No I’m not stupid, Rob is just that honest and that good of a mechanic.
I have even come in suggesting something was wrong with my clutch, and instead of agreeing and charging me to replace it, he called me a moron, tighter a cable and sent me on my way!
He is not the cheapest in town, but you definitely pay for what your get.
