I have nothing but good things to say about Logan’s alley. Quality service, quality beer and cocktails and quality food for a bar.

Okay I loved this place. Andy know his micro brews and while cliché he did know everyone’s name. It is a neighborhood cheers. Andy was bold enough to suggest Carnitas even though he knew I was from San Diego. Good carnitas but the atmosphere more than made up for it. Actually regret that I may never be back

This place looks run down and outdated but it is a really good experience. I was pleasantly surprised with all the food that my friends and I ordered. They smoke all their meat right there behind the building. defiantly worth a try!

Grand Rapids is rich with great beer bars. And it is precisely for this reason that, until quite recently, it had been multiple years since I felt the need to visit Logan’s Alley. The reality is, with just over 20 taps, the selection isn’t typically competitive with places like Hopcat. While the taps are seemingly all dedicated to craft beer, Logan’s Alley is more like Cheers than a craft beer bar, in that it seems heavily reliant on a core group of regulars who return there more for habit than because of a product draw, all of whom know each other and are well known to the staff. This is aided by the fact that they open at 7 AM, so that third shift workers in the area can get a beer and some basic American bar food when they get off work.
What brought me back to Logan’s Alley was their use of Facebook to promote a series of tap takeovers occurring back to back. On four consecutive days, a different Michigan brewery took over between half (as with Dark Horse and Odd Side) and almost all of the bar’s draught lines (as with Greenbush and Kuhnhenn) with their products, usually featuring at least a few rarer items. It was great to be able to try beers like Dark Horse Rum Barrel 4Elf and Kunhenn TRIPA without having to attend a beer festival or line up at the brewery for a limited bottle release. Prices on a few of these beers were surprisingly high, though on the whole prices were reasonable for a bar.
In terms of atmosphere, I will note that the staff is decidedly more friendly to patrons whom they know than those they do not. This became obvious just by the fact that I was treated more warmly on my third and fourth visits than on my first and second, despite being served by the exact same people each time. I would also note that I’m not wild about the very loud pop music playing whenever they’re open. I understand that choice on a busy Friday night when it is likely to be too loud for meaningful conversation regardless, but I find it less sensible at 7 AM on a weekday morning.

4 for food, and 5 for service. Danielle the bartender is the best! She knows her beers, the specials and can point you in the right direction when you just don’t know what to order! Five Michigan beers later and we wish we could stay for more. Make sure to make a stop here on a weeknight! The bar itself is rather small and not a ton of seats.

Logan’s Alley is my favorite neighbor bar. It has the dive bar feel with pool and darts, but with fairly good food. The staff is friendly and can always provide good recommendations. Go for the food specials that they rotate each month.

Local favorite. Rotating menu never disappoints, and the meat is freshly prepared. Onion rings are the best in the city. Mostly, I appreciate the expansive beer menu, but no judgement passed if you want a Lite to pair with their Mac and cheese.

This place is MUCH better than you’d expect. Food is delicious, mostly locally sourced and totally reasonable in price.
Beer specials are great, and they have a million to choose from. Great little local joint for grabbing lunch/​dinner and a beer without waiting in line to get in.
Staff was mega friendly and I’m REALLY looking forward to going back.

We come here in the morning normally 7ish. The foods is on point and the drinks are solid as expected. Super friendly consistent staff that actually engage you. Definitely my favorite morning spot!

Logan’s Alley is popular for its image as a «dive bar» or local «watering hole.» It has all the elements – friendly wait staff, dim lighting, a pool table, and a menu filled with American classics. My associate and I warmly welcome the camaraderie this environment inspires, but the establishment falls short in some glaring ways that don’t charm so much as expose the «dive bar» vibe Logan’s Alley attempts to achieve as simultaneously a marketing ploy as well as an excuse for sloppiness.
My associate and I most recently visited Logan’s for their Short’s Tap Takeover on Valentine’s Day. One major feather in Logan’s cap is their beer selection – it’s varied, and always has top-​tier Michigan craft selections. We were not at all disappointed by what the Tap Takeover had to offer us.
But before we decided which beers to order in our flight, we requested waters. We were waited on by two different people before we received them. The staff at Logan’s can’t be criticized for lack of enthusiasm – but organization and communication seemed to be in short supply during our visit. We were checked in on by at least three different people at all different times during our meal. Being over-​waited on is hardly something to turn one’s nose up at, though. That’s a most forgivable «offense.»
Once the waters were delivered, I took my first sip and immediately realized that my glass had very recently been occupied by someone else’s Bloody Mary. The distinct taste of celery on my tongue, I held my glass up to find a school of celery salt floating at the bottom. I don’t mind celery, but its unprecedented presence in my glass nauseated me. I notified my server of the problem, and he was equally disgusted and promptly replaced the water with one in a clean glass. The server responded well and I’m grateful for that, but the whole debacle was a really unfortunate way to start my experience at Logan’s.
My associate and I received our flight and were very satisfied with it. Shorts Queen Bee and Pig Bird are excellent brews. Then we decided to accompany our flight with an order of Michigan Fries – presumably the same dish as the one found at Graydon’s Crossing, another L&B Portfolio restaurant, only with a cracked pepper aioli. When the fries arrived my associate and I found them to be lukewarm and soggy and the aioli to be borderline flavorless. We were unimpressed and unfulfilled.
Still, the beer selection and friendly staff will bring my associate and I back to Logan’s at least once more. Their line-​up for Grand Rapids Beer Week (the week preceding the winter beer festival) is very impressive and I look forward to trying bourbon barrel-​aged Brother Benjamin from Greenbush.
If you aren’t put off by the disorganized service and generally uninspired menu, especially coming from a well established holding company like the L&B Portfolio, then you may enjoy Logan’s Alley’s atmosphere. But I can’t completely look past their shortfalls without wondering if they’re really achieving the atmosphere they aim for, or if they’re using their image to mask their mediocrity.

Logan’s Alley is a great little dive bar in Grand Rapids. My friend Matt insists that it’s the best bar in GR. While I can’t speak on that since I don’t live there, I certainly enjoyed myself there. They had a huge selection of beer, which I was surprised at. I didn’t expect such a large selection of beer in a smaller environment. I ordered an Imperial Stout and my friends ordered a big bottle of Jolly Pumpkin beer. Both beers were great. They have an inside, though it was quite crowded, and they also had this nice little add-​on to the side where it gave an outdoors feel to it. It was fenced in, but you could see out the fence into the parking lot and to the street, so it certainly gave a nice open feel. I definitely look forward to returning to Logan’s Alley next time I’m in GR.

An established and well loved local watering hole with a surprisingly diverse food menu and a huge variety of beers.
I always get the Barley and Quinoa Salad and it doesn’t disappoint. If you are an ambitious beer drinker, you’ll want to join their World Beer Club. In addition to the world beers, they have a clear commitment to Michigan breweries by offering a variety of local bottles. They also make the olé standby’s — like a vodka/​soda– strong and tall.
They have a juke box, free popcorn, a pool table, billiards, and if it’s nice out, the side deck is a relaxing seating option. Otherwise, it’s a cozy fit inside the bar.
Only complaint is the parking lot situation. It’s a tight fit navigating through it and the spots aren’t well marked: you kind of have to make your own, especially at night.
The staff is fun and the other customers are a good time. I’ve often made friends with the table next to me. I’m told they even have 7am happy hours for the 3^rd shift crowd (or people who haven’t gone to bed yet) so there’s no reason why you can’t stop in.

Crazy beer selection and a wonderful eclectic menu with a flavor for Michigan fare. Yeah they have micros on tap, but their focus on the right micros is what sets them apart. 30 beers on top and the radio just went from classic rock to Eazy E (no joke).
You want a tater tot bar, we’re having that now. Bam!
Don’t be fooled by the ramshackle store front look. This is the place that your super cool uncle takes you to remind you why he is the cool uncle.

We went there on Wednesday night since we saw that the special that night was half off all the «world beer club» beers.
From outside, the bar looks like it’s a first floor of a 2 story house. It’s also set as a neighborhood bar with a small parking lot in the back. After entering from the front door, it takes some time for you eyes to adjust to the dim lighting. For a Wednesday night, the place looked packed. After we sat down, we happily proceeded to order the «world beers club» beers only to find out that you must have been a member by the day before to qualify. This was really a bummer and that is why I am giving the place 3 stars. Nowhere on the website or the Facebook page does it talk about that requirement. I understand the reason whey this rule is in place but there is no reason for them not to declare it on their website. We then just decided to suck it up and pay full price for the beers. The beers were served quickly and were delicious.
If you are looking for a neighborhood bar with good beer list then this is a good place. Don’t bring your first date here as the place has that dingy kind of a feeling. On the plus side, the popcorn is free, so, go ahead, bring your first date here.
