Sweet Yo’s Frozen Yogurt – Downtown Grand Rapids

Just started to enjoy frozen yoghurt and this place did not disappoint.
The store is large and clean with some great flavours and mix ins. They have fresh fruit and the usual mix ins. One of the best things is the cup divider so your flavours don’t get mixed together — great idea!
I loved the NY cheesecake flavour which was really nice and also matching it’s great taste was the salted caramel popcorn flavour!!! Amazing!!!
The staff member was lovely and she was very helpful and nice to talk to about the store and the city, as we are visiting.

I love a good froyo shop and this one was pretty decent. They had 10 flavors, good pairings to swirl the flavors (the handle in the middle mixes the flavor on the right and the left).
Something I haven’t seen at most froyo shops is a divided cup, so your flavors don’t mix. I loved this! I kinda wish it was divided into ¼s because I wanted 4 flavors but I limited myself to salted caramel on one side and a twist of peanut butter and cake batter on the other.
They had good toppings but I’ve seen better selections before. The topping dispensers on the wall were a great decoration as well as a good way to keep things clean and orderly. The scoop topping area was pretty clean.
I will be back on my next stay in downtown GR (or maybe tomorrow night!)

Yummy fill-​your-​own-​cup frozen yogurt with plenty of fun toppings to add. The tart plain flavor is delicious and tastes just like froyo made of plain yogurt. The blood orange sorbet and salted caramel were good, too. If you’re craving this kind of frozen yogurt, this is the place.

I am in love with their tart flavored frozen yogurt. No other business comes close except that one place in Hawaii… lol. I don’t like to mix Sweet Yo’s flavors because I find the other flavors to be a bit… artificial.
Anyway I’m the one to I pack my froyo cup full of fresh fruit like mango, strawberry and kiwi. My favorite topping is their mochi pellets. If you have never tried them, you’re really missing out. Mochi are like chewy rice marshmallows and they compliment froyo… so so well.
And if you don’t like the tarte flavor, ask to sample. And Sample away! The best part of this place, is that it’s next to my two favorite restaurants in west Michigan. Sushi Yama and Angels Thai Café. Dinner AND Dessert. Win. Win.

I was a little sad to see that a froyo establishment has taken the place of a gyro place… Had to check it out and see what the deal was… I’d have to say the location is going to be perfect for business especially with the summer temperatures approaching.
So you walk in and head to the back of the store and grab a bowl, then you choose from the selections they have. The choices were a little much and I was forced by my bland taste buds to exercise caution and choose plain old vanilla. The sweet tooth in me then topped it with fudge brownie bites, crumbled kit kats and twix, and some mini chocolate chip cookies. My son and I shared and the portion was enough for both of us, though he probably would have kept going if there were more in the bowl. The cost wasn’t bad, though you pay according to the weight of your creation and the more toppings you add, the more it will burn a hole in your wallet. I think with all the yogurt and toppings my total was around $ 4.50, which is comparable to local ice cream shops.
It’s nice to have control over the toppings. That is always a huge complaint of mine, that they never put enough «insert said topping». Well now you can only blame yourself if you don’t make it your way.

I have never been to a frozen yogurt place like this before, so when we stopped by, I was intrigued. You can get small sample cups to try out the flavors before getting what you wanted. I ended up getting the mango and topping it off with some sprinkles (not chocolate), some mini marshmallows and bubble tea pearls. It was absolutely delicious and the girl working there was wonderful showing us how to work the machine and explaining everything. It’s across from the Rosa Parks Circle, which is nice to sit at and enjoy your froyo.

I love the bright and colorful décor, and it was fun to just sit and people watch the square across the road. Not to mention it is nestled right next to a bunch of fantastic little historical shops. I tried the salted caramel froyo, topped with fudge brownies, pretzels, pecans and chocolate swirl. It was fantastic. I would definitely recommend.

Stopped in based on location and convenience to Rosa Parks Circle. Sweet Yo’s frozen treats refreshed me on a hot day but I wouldn’t describe the concept or décor as unique. It’s your standard, fill your own cup, frozen yogurt place.
They had several different frozen yogurts and two sorbets available from large, wall mounted serve yourself handles. Toppings are pretty typical for this type of concept desert bar: fruit, cookie dough, cheesecake bits, chocolate chips, and various candies. I choose the Mango Sorbet with pineapple and cookie dough bits (yeah, it was a weird combo. Not my best pick). My husband got Peanut Butter and Vanilla with Reece’s bits and chocolate chips.
They offer samples in teeny tiny cups, just like the other places. The prices are about the same as the other places: $ 1 gazillion dollars for 14 pounds of yogurt. That’s an exaggeration but they do weigh your creation as the other places do. My theory is this system of measurement is how they get your wallet. The toppings weigh you down! (Figuratively and literally). Only difference I saw was that their thick, over-​sized plastic spoons were orange and not pink in color, like some of the other guys in town.
The place was tidy when we arrived and moderately busy. Its decorated in bright fun colors and funky light fixtures. Only real downfall to sitting in the shop was that their front windows were so covered with posters that we couldn’t people watch from them.

If you’re a health fanatic but are craving something semi-​sweet late at night, get the key lime and plain yogurt mixture. The tangy flavor coupled with fruits and almonds is delicious!

I have come to the conclusion that I have a problem with fro-​yo. I seriously stop in this place every single time I am in downtown Grand Rapids. The only reason for the four stars is that their seating area is tiny, and my husband got ran over by the dolly of the delivery guy while he was sitting and eating his frozen yogurt.
But overall good place, I love the boba!

Self serve yogurt place with really inexpensive yogurt. It borders the park in downtown and has a friendly cashier that will ring you up. Good selection of flavors and toppings.

Good frozen yogurt but the «whipped topping» was surprisingly whipped oil, non-​dairy topping in a can. I didn’t realize it until I sprayed it on top of my yogurt, and it tasted like whipped oil… ruined my yogurt. Considering the price charged, real whip cream should be offered.

If you’ve had Yogurtland in CA, this place is practically an exact replica of it. The concept, the offerings, and even the décor, it screams Yogurtland. The only difference is the housing they put the toppings in. You have your mainstays like plain tart, pistachio, mint chocolate, lemon sorbet, and strawberry, and they also have other uncommon flavors like black cherry, red velvet cake, texas peanut butter. You’re bound to find something that you like, as the total number of flavors exceeds 30.
For me, the consistency and flavor of the yogurt were hardly premium frozen yogurt. The consistency was too soft and the flavors were as a whole, one dimensional. Not what I’d expect, if you’re branding your product as «Premium Frozen Yogurt». The guy at the cashier was nice and friendly, and there are about 3 tables inside to sit and enjoy your treat, with an addition of 3 others outside. If you happen to be in town and near the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, it’s very close by and convenient; about a 5 minute walk. However, it’s not something worth going out of your way for.
