Specialties
We are an acclaimed specialty food store within a full service restaurant. We serve a casual
menu with small plates (often Asian,), farm-to-table salads, legendary fried chicken, lots of seafood served in unusual ways, house-made desserts. Nearly everything is available to carry out.
History
Established in 1993.
We began as the Salamander Café, a tiny café popular with the New York Times who named us «one of the top-ten cafes in Long Island,» for 2 years in a row. Then we became Salamander General Store, selling everything from caviar to fried chicken, as well as imported specialty foods & tableware collected during our annual Asian excursions. Finally, we are Salamander’s On Front, a specialty food store surrounded by a casual, full service restaurant.
