I don’t get it. It’s just poorly fried chicken and fries. Don’t get me wrong I love me some good fried food but this is not the place. My husband and I came here after reading some good reviews and seeing the chain several places around Michigan. We aren’t from MI so we’re curious to understand the craze behind the shack. Our conclusion? It’s just poor quality fast food.

News Years Day we had a spectacularly bad meal as a carry out from the grosse pointe woods location. My chicken tenders were chicken jerky, so tough and dried out that I threw them away. Couldn’t eat any of the chicken in the meal. My wife’s chicken dinner was also terrible, dried out and tough. Unfortunately this was the worst meal I have had in quite awhile. Definitely will not return.

Not so great. The chicken was dry and it’s over priced. Would rather have KFC. I give it 2 stars because I do love the cole slaw and the potatoes are good. Had it for dinner last night. I had one chicken breast some potatoes and cole slaw. Felt like a rock was sitting in my stomach the rest of the night. If ever asked if I’m down for Chicken Shack carry out again I’m going to have to pass. Over priced, super greasy and gross.

Employees are friendly and the place is clean. I got the #1 lunch special for $ 6. It’s a breast, wing, roll, potatoes(I substituted & got the onion rings), and a beverage. Everything was good. It’s not the best fried chicken, but definitely not the worst. I prefer mine with more coating, but it’s crispy and not greasy here. I would eat here again for sure.

This is the best Chicken Shack. The food is fresher and not greasy like other locations.

God bless my parent in laws for living so close to a chicken shack! My cooking impaired aunt actually introduced me to Chicken shack when I was 14(I’m now 27). Thank goodness for her inability to cook. Everytime we would visit her in Troy, she would buy tons of chicken shack, and I would eat tons of chicken shack. So what’s so great about this place? Well there’s the obvious– the chicken. I think there is crack in the oil, because I always crave more after I’ve eaten here. The chicken wings they have here are also on point. In addition to the chicken, the potato wedges they have here are delicious. Saturated in salt and butter, sure they’re a heart attack waiting to happen, but if you’re going to a fried chicken joint, you might as well go for the gold. Lastly, the cole slaw. Let me tell you I HATECOLESLAW, hate might not be a strong enough word to describe my feelings for the cole slaw. But here at Chicken Shack? I’ve actually found one place on earth that makes a decent cole slaw. Everything here is pretty wonderful. It’s hard not to like anything deep fried, but this may be the place to go to get it. They also got lunch combos for those of us balling on a budget.
