I have been interested in an all leather boot for awhile, and finally decided to check out the Red Wing Shoe Store in Hackensack for a pair of Iron Rangers. Upon getting to the small shop I was greeted by a pleasant employee who knew a lot about the products. Even though this should be a given, these days it is hard to come by. He assisted with the fit and type of boot that I needed and offered honest advice. I am very happy with my purchase and would go to this store again with no hesitation.

Back in the day, Timberland held onto the lead in the work boot/fashion boot game. While they still have lot of appeal to both the masses and hip hop culture, they have been upstaged by Red Wing in a very serious way. Manufacturing an incredibly varied line of boots mainly in the US with some production overseas using American tanned leathers, they are the pinnacle of quality and to many, style. Their moc toe varieties have eclipsed the standard Timberland work boot silhouette among those who know and appreciate style as well as craftsmanship. They also happen to be incredibly well made, with certain components having lifetime warranties. Purchasing them at a Red Wing retail store is also a pleasure. Alex, at their shop in Hackensack has a virtually encyclopedic knowledge of their inventory as well as each style’s, fit, features and benefits. This is shoe buying the old school way and for me, it’s the only way. He clearly explained to us the difference between certain models, manufacturing techniques and fit specifications of each boot. He used an electronic measuring device and proceeded to fine tune different sizes until we came upon the perfect style and size. In the shoe & boot game, it’s game on with Red Wing and their excellent staff and top notch quality. The reference standard by which to judge all others. Kudos.

Came into the store around 5pm. Not a soul to be found. I was immediately greeted by a sales associate and he made some great recommendations for boots i needed. I’ve only had the boots for 2 days, but they are super comfortable and light weight which is suprisng for any steel-toe boot. Absolutely worth the extra money. These are some of the best boots around.

For those who don’t know I move pianos for a living. It can be very hard on the body and one of the most important pieces of equipment for me is comfortable boots. I have found that Red Wings are one of the best. For me they break in the easiest and last the longest. So when I found out that there is a Red Wing Store close enough to my work that once a year I can get a pair of boots I was very happy. Now most shoe stores don’t have a lot of styles when it comes to work boots. Red Wing has about 30 from what I can tell. All with different levels of protection depending on what you need. The prices themselves also very from $ 100-$ 400 on a pair. For something that I’ll wear for a year almost every day that’s an awesome values. They also have replacement pieces for the shoe as well. Not just shoe laces either. The sales staff at this branch was very good with a descent knowledge of what boots will work best for you. He didn’t try and push me on the most expensive pair either. In fact he geared me toward a lower cost brand that would help me out because they are lighter in weight. Kudos my man. I would suggest checking this place out. They do have more than just steal toe boots as well with nice selection of casual shoes/boots. The traffic nearby is a pain but for a one or two times a year trek I can live with that. Can’t you?
