The Fountain Spa

I’ve been to the Fountain a number of times, and have never had a bad massage. I’ve had a range of good to excellent, with Renato working the most on my knots and sore spots. It’s a lovely way to treat yourself or to spend some time with friends before and after in the Tranquility Room.

The massage was just average. The mens shower needs some heavy duty cleaning. Mold yuck.

The spa was very clean. I got the taste of heaven which was a half back massage and half foot message. It was great. Just what I needed to relax!

Went here a year ago as a birthday gift from my fiancé. The rooms and ambiance were quite lovely and everything is beautiful an clean but I wasn’t impressed with the staff and felt like my massage and other treatments were rushed. Maybe it was an off day at the place but I definitely didn’t feel relaxed walking out of there! For the price my fiancé paid, I felt the services were lacking. However, as I mentioned it is quite lovely and conveniently located.

Now before you negate my review because of the star rating read the why…
I’ve been to plenty of Spa’s in the city, around the country and NJ. This one is high end in that they have a nice place, robes, lots of oils and stuff to buy. From an ascetic point of view it’s 5 stars. Equinox up on Rt. 17 has a similar situation however here’s the difference.
First they tell you it’s an hour message. In fact it’s not. It was 47 minutes. The website says an hour and when you’re greeted they say it’s hour. When I left and paid I asked about why it was less than an hour and was told, «It’s hands on for 50 minutes». I didn’t press since there is no point to that. I respond with my wallet and word of mouth. Keep in mind they do not tell you this upfront anywhere I could see or what I was told.
The masseuse never asked me what I wanted. She told me she’s doing a Swedish message. They have a list of what’s available but no one even asked me what I wanted or the choices available. When I was on the phone they told they have a steam room in the mens locker room to use and showers. I asked if they have a jacuzzi and I was told it was $ 20 charge to use it. Extra special oil, that’s $ 10. The Mens locker room has a grand total of One shower. So you have guys standing around waiting to wash off the oil after the message with one tiny bench to sit down on. Not exactly a comfortable situation naked in a robe full of oil.
Here’s the thing-​Most Spa’s or gyms like Equinox that are high end don’t change anything extra to use anything in facility when going for a message. $ 20 for a Jacuzzi? Insane in my opinion. No interest by anyone in what I actually wanted. The whole purpose of this owner is getting you in, getting you out and getting paid. I did get a cup of water though. No charge.
One shower and a tiny bench in the locker room is ridiculous. All this and they charge $ 105. Business owners that conduct themselves this way are not to be trusted or patronized. I would call them predatory.
I’ve gotten better messages at S&L on Main Street in Fort Lee for $ 70. They do one hour body and then an hour foot. $ 25 tip and there’s your $ 105. You always get what you pay for. Not a fancy place but a very good message and honest. I’m happy to give them my business and recommend them.
Any of these Spa’s (besides Fountain) are up front with their time and honest. If they said it’s 50 minutes for $ 105 I have no problem. Look on their website, no mention of this «Hands on 50 minutes» invention at checkout. The don’t mention it at any point. I had to ask.
This place is nickel and diming their customers to death. They lie about the time you get. I say you got me once and I’ll make sure never to return. Chances are they treat their employees this way too. The message itself was ok but not anything I would return for or refer. It was nice of her to tell me what I was going to get instead of asking what I’d like.
The two stars are since it’s a nice facility and nothing else.

What a waste of money. If you want lotion just rubbed on you instead of a massage Jerry is your girl.

I had never gotten a massage before. My boyfriend bought be a gift certificate for a deluxe Swedish Massage at the fountain and my expectations for massage have been set SO high. I am never going to want to go any where else.
I was a bit nervous, as it was my first massage and didn’t want to be naked on a table while someone I had never met before was touching me. I thought it was going to feel like a doctors appointment… BOY WAS I WRONG. Maggie made me feel super comfortable and did a great job with the massage. She applied just the right amount of pressure and I walked out of there feeling refreshed and ready to go. She waited outside with a glass of water and made sure there was nothing else I needed. Can’t wait to go back– it’ll be soon ;)

Renato is absolutely amazing!!! Lucked out by getting him the first time I went for a massage and now he’s the only one I’ll see!!! He makes every ache and pain go away!

Since I had a big birthday coming up, I decided to spoil myself.
I made my reservation online but then had to return their call because they will take your credit card information over the phone to hold the reservation. Rescheduling the appointment wasn’t an issue either (as I had a scheduling conflict come up). Be ready for a few confirmation texts and calls however.
The day of, I called to see if I had to bring anything but nope, just yourself.
The lady at check in was friendly, asked if I had a gift certificate, then if it was my birthday month. If it’s your birthday month, you get 10% off your treatments for the day. Nice!
I had ordered the Spa Harmony package $ 235, which comes with a private whirlpool bath, deluxe swedish massage, hydra memory facial, and paraffin treatment for your hands. Everyone was very friendly on the staff.
The tranquility room is gorgeous and stocked with teas, iced tea, and water along with little snacks. However, some of the other patrons, even on a quiet Thursday afternoon, were a little loud. Not the Fountain’s fault. A staff member was nice enough to offer a quieter sitting spot for me if I wanted it.
The whirlpool bath was amazing. The room was so relaxing. At first, I thought 30 mins would take forever but as I sat there and finally relaxed, I never wanted to leave.
The massage was so good. Every pain I had was gone! I almost proposed to my massage therapist he was so amazing. I think at points I dozed off and snored. It was that relaxing. I came out of the room feeling like I was in heaven. My body felt so good — which it hadn’t in a long time.
The facial was my first ever. She was very friendly and welcoming. She completely put me at ease. The extraction was a bit painful but well worth it. I wished the facial was after the massage though.
Afterwards, I was told to relax enjoy my time. I sat in the tranquility room for a bit drinking some water. Then I went into the steam room — had it all to myself. When I checked out, the process was painless (though my bank account would say otherwise).
And I walked out feeling amazing. I cannot wait to go back. My body felt so good afterwards.
Yes the spot is a little pricey but I’ve been to other more affordable spas and they do not give you this high end of a treatment. I loved it and cannot wait to return again!

I got a gift certificate here last Christmas and because of my busy schedule, I was unable to use it until today.
Long story, short — The best part of today were the muffins they provide in the Tranquility Room.
Ricardo (I believe that was his name)
was the masseuse given to me for a Warm Stone Massage. Although he was nice and had a professional attitude, I felt extremely rushed. There was nothing relaxing about this massage. He was working so fast and was so loud when getting lotion or picking up the stones, etc.
Next, I had a Stress Relieving Pedicure with Jovi. This pedicure made me more stressed than relaxed LOL. Being that I wear heels all week for work (I even mentioned this to her) I was so excited for this pedicure! Well I was extremely disappointed… The massage that she gave me was an absolute joke. I swear to God I have never NEVER in my life had a massage like that. She used one finger and LIGHTLY went along the side of my foot and ankles. I think newborn babies would have given more of an effort. At this point I jus couldn’t wait to get out of there.
I’m really not one to complain and I understand I had a gift certificate, but I am genuinely amazed that this place is still operating. It’s located at such a high-​end mall with great stores, it’s embarrassing that this is the service they provide. Now I have $ 200 left over on my gift certificate and I’ll be giving it away to someone.
In addition, this place needs a facelift. For the prices they charge, I’m almost positive they can fix up the place and update it just a bit. Has an older feel to it… I will not be returning. Sorry guys!

Worth Every Penny. I’ve been to many fine spas around the world. Boston, California, Florida, Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and of course Las Vegas. As far as New Jersey Spas this one is the closest I have found to a spa in a class close to Canyon Ranch or Burke William and other top end spas. Most local spas are Message Envy or Hand and Stone where they offer you a membership and then a reduced rate but the atmosphere of those are rarely relaxing they are more of an in and our experience verses offering a day of pampering. I’ve found my favorite massage specialist and would share but I’m afraid you will all book her up! I have had several facials as well and they have been fantastic too. They offer gift certificates, perfect for mother’s day gifts, father’s day gifts, Holiday and birthday gifts. Feel free to send me one… just kidding. I know they might be higher priced but they are worth the value.

This spa is nestled just inside the shops at riverside square mall. This spa is huge compared to ones that I have been to. From the reception desk all the way to the waiting are is beautifully crafted. I definitely walked in and said wow this is beautiful. The waiting area is equipped with a fairly large waiting area with an assortment of teas, infused water, fruits. The spa welcomes both men and women. The facial services were just to my liking. I walked out feeling refreshed and renewed. Ladies and even gentleman this spa might be a good location for little get together for special occasions.

I have come here about once or twice a year for the past 3 years for massages and facials. Those services are very good and each person I have had was wonderful and very nice. The tranquility room is great and all of the rooms very comfortable and clean.
My only negative experience would be with the front desk folks and the phone people. They don’t listen or pay attention to detail and go over your reservations especially if it’s more than one. The last time I came it was missing the massage for my guest. That’s a big deal. We came for a spa experience yet one massage wasn’t scheduled even after it is written on the gift certificates, after I repeated it to several people on check in and called multiple times to move the appts and book it. This should not happen in a service and hospitality industry. Confirming what the reservations are and making sure it matches any gift certificates seem basic.

My husband got me one of the spa packages for Christmas 2014. I only recently used it as I was pregnant at the time. The gift package included a 2 hour massage, an hour facial, spa lunch, and a manicure and pedicure. Which I upgraded to a gel mani. All of the staff that serviced me were wonderful and made the experience quite relaxing. I was literally there all day from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. I do, however understand how other people felt like they were at a ‘massage factory.’ Everyone deserves a day at the spa a few times a year.
Some of the woman waiting for services seemed stuck up and caddy and I actually heard two of them discussing the fact I used an area in the dressing room to use my breast pump. Which is absolutely embarrassing behavior on their part they should be ashamed of themselves.
I was at the spa in the middle of the week, not during a busy weekend.

Such a fan, from check in to check out Julia was so professional and accommodating. She greeted us and checked us in with ease with a brief explaining of where to go to begin our massages. We arrived a half hour early for our appointments, and Maria the towel lady guided me to the locker room, she was so sweet and quite funny. She said that I could enjoy the steam room all to myself since no one was there and gave me a warm smile. She was honestly very sweet. From there I went to the tranquility room and enjoyed a cute bite sized buff in and some iced tea. There were a few women in the tranquility room enjoying their tea and apples and muffins.
They were filming a commercial when we were there, but they were so quiet I hardly noticed them. Besides there being huge lighting apparatus’ everywhere lol
My massage therapist Christina greeted me promptly and right on time. Introducing herself, very professional but also warm and inviting like I had knew her for years. Her massage was great, perfect pressure, and I am sure I feel asleep quite a few times. She had asked if I was enjoying the massage and if the pressure was ok midway through the massage to assure I was happy, and that was very nice of her. Since, some therapists honestly don’t care, and won’t bother asking. She also stated at the very beginning of the massage that if I didn’t like the massage after 10 mins to let her know and I won’t be charged. which is new, but definitely a great policy to have.
Upon completion of my massage, Christina walked me to the tranquility room, she briefed me on my problem areas and what the tenseness in my back which I find to be an added bonus and I believe ALL therapist should state this.
Will definitely be coming back no doubt about it. I honestly have no idea why all these negative reviews are about. Maybe change in staff since then? Either way, it was a wonderful experience. Keep it up.

My best friend and I came here last weekend for manicures. I usually get gel manis, however, here they are priced at $ 50 (insanely expensive and double the price I usually pay). My friend was using her gift card so I just went with a regular manicure. It’s been about a week and my polish is still pretty much in tact with just a few chips so I’m impressed. I couldn’t tell if my manicurist was annoyed that she was at work on a Sunday or just didn’t like me. She was not very friendly and was not interested in having any small talk with me. My friend’s manicurist was very friendly though and they were chatting the whole time.
Overall it was an OK experience. My friend goes a lot for massages and such so she seems to like it.

Really enjoyed this place. I felt very pampered and relaxed the whole time I was here. Received a massage, facial, and manicure. Everything was great. The complementary breakfast and drinks were a nice touch. Also had a wrap for lunch which was delicious.

I was just here last weekend with a girlfriend. We decided to treat ourselves to a massage and dinner, sans husbands and children. I’ve been here a few times and have never had any issues!
Anyway, we were greeted by the hostess right when we walked in! They checked us in and escorted us to the women’s lounge. They provided us with a very comfy robe and slippers. We picked a locker, changed our clothes and headed to the relaxation room. The relaxation room overs freshly brewed ice team, lemon water and some fruit and cookies.
My massage was fabulous! The therapist was very sweet, she respected the fact that I just wanted to lay there and relax, she didn’t pressure me into adding any of the extras to my massage (aromatherpy oils, or heating pads), and did an excellent job.
I know some people may hesitate coming here because it is in a mall, but, once you walk in those double doors, you have no idea that there is shopping going on right above you. I have also been to the location in Ramsey and would much rather go to the Hackensack location. I think it is much more inviting and warm! The Ramsey location is very sterile, reminds me of a hospital!

We booked hot stone massages and facials.
I am pretty experienced with massages and facials, everywhere from beauty schools to high end resorts.
The Tranquility Room does not match up to what I expected. As stated before grocery store mini muffins and water with a lemon thrown in. I expect better for the price. Others that I have gone to offered higher priced teas, water with cucumbers and strawberries etc and a more tranquil area to sit in. It’s nothing but a holding area until they call your name and you really don’t have time to relax unless you come 20 minutes earlier.
The massage was decent, what i expect at resorts which are usually ho hum as I have a massage therapist on Broad Street, in Glen Rock who is a Rock Star. But this was a gift… so i relaxed and tried to appreciate the relaxation at least. The Massage rooms are also nothing to brag about for the price. I’ve experienced much nicer.
Back to the Tranquility Room… my name gets called again for my facial which was very nice.
They do add in the heated boots for your hands and feet with warm oils which is nice and unexpected. The facial i had was fine.
We had ordered lunch so we were escorted back to the tranquility room in the back area to eat. I would have expected we would be eating in another room, but apparently it’s not a big hit to eat there. So we sat with others while we ate our veggie chicken wraps which were adorned with some cheap tostitos and what tasted like a jarred guacamole and iced tea.
We were then offered cookies and milk, the cookies were pretty gross and I“m certain pre-​packaged. Again, I expect better.
I can’t confirm prices as someone else was treating me but I thought it was mediocre at best. For someone who does not like a real massage it’s fine. If you need something «fixed» or worked on, perhaps the men are better? Will be going back to my massage therapist in Glen Rock.

I heard about The Fountain Spa from a radio ad and thought I’d check out the site. From the get-​go the prices for each body treatment jumped right out, but the euphoric descriptions of each spa service seemingly make you think that they’re worth ~$ 100. I made an appointment for the Dead Sea Paraffin Wrap. This was the first time I’ve tried anything like it and thought it’d be a relaxing treat for my skin and for myself.
I left this spa feeling more self-​conscious and stressed out than going in. Once I dressed in my robe, the woman giving me the massage walked in and was rather passive-​aggressive. She asked why I was not already laying on my stomach face down adding «haven’t you done something like this before»? After a few minutes of trying to let that comment go, she continued saying that I should stop wearing lip gloss and use a different cover-​up. I let it go because I knew how much I was paying for my upcoming experience and wanted to enjoy it as much as I could. I honestly felt like I would’ve had much better results had I exfoliated my skin and wrapped myself in plastic wrap for a few minutes at home. I would’ve saved over $ 100 including tip, gas money, time, and nerves.
