David was the best! His main priority was our safety, comfort, and enjoyment for the entire adventure (Snacks, lunch and drinks were offered, and he even had a mosquito repellent, hand sanitizer and gin gin candy for nausea available!) He really went above and beyond! Definitely felt lucky and thankful to have him as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, very approachable, accommodating and super caring. We even got to sample a yummy banana bread along the way! PS, the roads were winding and zigzagged so to those who have motion sickness you may need to reconsider doing this… Other than that, it was definitely a must see and a go — to experience when you’re in Maui!

Wow! What a wonderful day!
My wife and I were apprehensive about an arduous 12 hour trip to Hana. This «Best of» 6 hour trip seemed to meet our needs.
What an understatement!
Our day with Kalia, was spent peeking into beautiful spots along this unique road, learning Hawaiian history, learning the flora and enjoying the company of new friends.
The best part of this tour is its low key flexibility. The group is small. They gave us food vouchers so we could choose what we wanted to buy for lunch. The tour structure is loose so we could spend more time on what interested the 5 of us. When opportunities were presented to see things not on the schedule, we could adapt.
I can’t fully describe all the reasons we loved this day. Try it. Interact with Kalia or one of the other guides. Learn how much fun getting involved in a new culture can be.

We had an amazing time with Kalia on our trip. We booked a private half day tour for a family of three (2 adults & a 2 yr old). The tour was reasonably priced. Kalia was very nice and the trip was quite informative — from history to botany. He drove very carefully and slowly on the winding roads and even our toddler was not car sick. Even though it was raining really hard, Kaila made sure that he maximized our trip by going beyond what was part of the trip. We saw wonderful waterfalls, valleys and sea shore views including some hidden views that you would not ordinarily see on a regular van trip. He even brought papaya & coconut from his own garden for us. We ended our wonderful trip with food at a beach few feet away from about 40 turtles resting in a cove. Would recommend these guys to everyone, especially people with kids. The half day tour we took was specifically designed for families & kids.

Our party of 11 took the Road to Hana tour today. Our guide, Dave, was not only extremely knowledgeable (and a very good driver), but also had a great, likable personality — which is a necessity when you’re in a van together for 7.5 hours!
The views and stops on the tour were breathtaking. We saw beaches, waterfalls, sea turtles — nature at its most beautiful.
We all enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend.

AMAZING TOUR!
What can I say then this. I have been to Maui many times over the past 10 years, driven the Hana Rd, made the sunrise Haleakala trip… even the Rangers there, if asked will tell you hands down the sunset literally blows away the sunrise… do yourself a favor don’t freeze, wade thru the crowds, get up at 2.30am to make the upper parking fiasco, and have the next day be wiped out due to sleep deprivation, when you can drive up at 3 pmish, see the amazing crater glow, and then take in the incredible, quite and serene sunset Vistas, and be a lot warmer!
Maui Paradise Tours created a very personal tour experience for my family on their shorter Jungle and Waterfall tour (7 to 8 hours)
Years ago we did the full Hana Tour with another company, and just wiped us out with its 11 hour drive!
Our driver, Keoni is a very gentle local, Hawaiian family man who knows every rock, tree, myth, and stories you could ever imagine… we swam in secret and secluded waterfalls, wandered thru bamboo forest, learned real history about Hawaii… not the gleaned over, sugar coated, feel good tour dissemination I have experienced with other tours on other islands… want to know about Mr Dole (Dole pineapple and banana mogul), how by gunpoint forced the Queen of Hawaii to surrender and relinquish the Nation of Hawaii over to a group of good ol white, greedy, USA businessmen! Hang out with this tour company, and learn the real history of Hawaii, and have an incredible time all wrapped up in an island adventure.

Wow I wish I’d read the reviews before I booked this trip. My loss. This was kind of a mixed bag. The guy who drove us around, Chris, was very nice. But when someone tells me I’m getting a private van I expect a private but professional tour van. The lady that booked this for me at The Snorkel Store told me the private van can seat 6 to 7 so we should probably not have anyone else on our tour. Ya think? This guys minivan did not fit any more than the four of us. He showed up in his own personal car, a minivan. It wasn’t new, modern, super clean, and every single time I got in the guy behind me had to pull my seatbelt out for me because it didn’t work properly. Like the previous person stated there was no ice chest full of cold drinks. Chris provided a very small chest in the back for us to put our sandwiches and a few juice boxes in but no ice. No cold drinks all day. No soda or anything. The «paid for» lunch that was included was an $ 8.00 voucher per person to buy a sandwich in a deli. We did make a lot of stops, we did see a lot of good things, Chris was informative, very nice, and accommodating but I wish I had known going in that we were just going to be in someone’s van for the day. The snacks were some energy bars, zip lock bags of popcorn and some chips that I was told were stale. We ended up paying more for this tour then we would have if we’d gone with a tour company like Valley Isle on their all day tour. I’ve done that before on the big bus where you had a tour guy who had a microphone and talked about the history of Maui, the culture, and told great stories along the way. In this previous tour The bus dropped us off at someone’s restaurant that they ran out of their home where they serve real authentic Hawaiian food. It was just far superior to this and what sucks the most is that I paid more for this than I would have for the other more professional tour. Not worth the price. Only reason this review gets two stars is for our tour guide Chris. Pass on Maui Paradise Tours. It is a hokey operation.

The tour guides tell you they will meet you in front of the movie theater at 9:45 and didn’t show up until 9:55 and say we are 5 minutes early, so then they stand around for 20 minute trying to figure everything out. Then a couple show up take money out and pay for there tour. We go to get in the car, and there wasn’t enough room, they want me to squeeze in the heat and humidity and drive around slowly with a lady who has motion sickness. Who looked like she was ready to vomit already
So because we weren’t in the car yet we got kicked off the tour. They did give us our money back but whole day ruined. but from the looks of other reviews we were lucky. STAY AWAY

When our cruise ship arrived in Maui I stumbled upon the guy selling this tour company in a mall. He was very personable and certainly a great sales person. He showed us large colorful photos of the six or seven places we would see on our reasonably priced tour. With our group of six he told us we would have our own private van and tour guide. The flyer stated we would have a healthy organic snack and beverage included although the salesman said the van would stop at the Mano Market and we would purchase our own snack. He also said he would have a table and chairs for us to sit on at the scenic lunch stop. We went for it at $ 65 per person for the Half-​way to Hana Tour.
When we met up with our tour guide the next morning she was very friendly and personable and on time. The van was new, seat belted and she was a very good driver. The rub was we though we would be stopping every ten or 15 minutes for some sort of tour site. We stopped briefly at an overlook of the beach where the seal turtles come in and the guide said we would return to that spot later at the end of the tour to see the turtles. soon we stopped at the Mano Market to pick up our food and drinks. There was no ice chest or any other means to keep our food and drink cool. I was concerned about possible food poisoning with the food in a hot storage area with out a means to cool it.
Then we continued on up the road to Hana. It is an endless serious of very sharp turns that go on forever. We made no stops for at least 45 minutes and by that time two out of the six in our group had motion sickness and did not want to go on. Consequently we went no further than that one stop. This wasn’t the fault of the tour company but had we known we would be driving around such a windy road without a stop every 15 minutes or so we probably would not have signed up for it.
We opted to eat lunch at this stop but there were no tables and chairs. There were a couple of park benches but only one was in the shade and it was occupied. We ended up sitting on wet grass in the shade eating our now warm drinks and sandwiches. Not a comfortable situation for senior citizens. When we finished eating we headed back to the sea turtle area and took a long break there and saw the sea turtles. It it hadn’t been for that the tour would have been a complete bust.
Although all of us liked the young friendly girl who was our guide, she was not able to offer up the kind of informative, educational information about the things along our route that other tour guides offer up in a more professionally operated tour. She was just a very nice friendly young girl who was a good driver.
The bottom line is we payed $ 65 each for a drive up a windy road to eat warm sandwiches, drink warm sodas, and set on wet grass, see several sea turtles, and spend some time in a bar drinking a beer to use up the extra time that we had because we couldn’t take the drive half-​way up to Hana. With a guide with more information on local history and lore it might have been okay but that was not the case.
My recommendation is pay a bit more and get a «real» tour.
