Established in 1901.
William Smith and his son, Robert Hayden Smith opened the funeral home in April 1901 in Phoebus. The current location was built in 1932 and expanded in 1967 with the addition of the 200 seat chapel, and then in 1999 with the renovation and addition of the circa 1870 Holt House to give an even more home and family feel to the families we serve. In 2000, the business was expanded with the opening of the Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions branch providing a family owned cremation location. As of 2011, 6 generations of the Smith family have served Hampton, the Peniinsula and all of Hampton Roads with three generations working together today. R. Hayden Smith Family has served the community both military and civilian for 110 years

A native and lifelong resident of Hampton, Tim has served in the funeral home since 1985, being involved in over 7000 funeral and cremation services.
