Even though we live just a couple blocks down from the newly opened Duffy’s Diner, my fiancée and I waited until today to give it a shot. Boy I wish we had went sooner because the food here is absolutely delicious… and super cheap! Located where the old Ralph’s Take Out used to be, Duffy’s offers a huge menu of breakfast and lunch diner fare at prices that can’t be beat. We came on a Saturday morning and they were pretty busy. Luckily, Duffy’s has a lot of seating, so we didn’t even have to wait for a table. After sitting and ordering beverages, my fiancée decided on the Irish eggs benedict with hash browns and I chose the Irish omelette with home fries. The benedict was cooked perfectly, the English muffin grilled to a beautiful golden brown, the corned beef hash is home made, and the hash browns crispy and full of flavor. My omelette was fluffy and had the perfect ratio of eggs, corned beef, saurkraut, and Swiss cheese. The home fries weren’t too crispy, but they were full of flavor and plentiful. The benedict was only $ 8 and my omelette only $ 9. Duffy’s may be able to stake the claim as «Best breakfast in Haverhill.» I can’t wait to go back very soon.

Breakfast is my most favorite meal, even as good as a dinner for two costing over 100 dollars. And this breakfast and lunch diner does not let me down. If your looking for the traditional tin can looking exterior diner eatery, its not. Its located in the same building that housed some of the Northshore’s top restaurants, so its really nice. The breakfasts are hot, sumptuous and good. We have a lot of great breakfast places in Haverhill with A1 Deli, Mark’s, The Breakfast Café, The Square, and Eggies, but this place keeps right up there. The Execs from IHOP should come here with note pads and relearn what breakfast is all about. My only negative and it has not changed, but getting in and out of their parking lot from 125 is dangerous. Not sure what they can do to make it safer. Maybe no left turn out of their lot. But don’t be surprised to hear a fender bender. Get a window seat and now you have entertainment if no one gets hurt. So make sure your car insurance is paid up and drive over. Their breakfasts are to die for… or over

Wow! The best homemade corn beef hash in Haverhill! Dare I now say in Merrimack Valley? And they have grits!!! And they have been open for only a few months!!! Duffy’s is a breakfast winner for Merrimack Valley and will be perennial favorites for many for years to come. The owners Laura and her husband used to own Primo Pasta in Plaistow years ago when Primo had the bread and bean board that underscored the great food they served there before they sold Primo and moved on. And Duffy’s prices are very reasonable. Right now I am salivating as I write with visions of the extra crispy corn beef hash that I will order again at my next visit. At each of my three visits over the past two weeks, Duffy’s has always had very imaginative and tasty sounding specials. Do not pass Duffy’s when you are on Route 125 in Ward Hill — stop, order and eat and you will be hooked!

Duffy’s Diner opened recently in the former Ralph’s Restaurant on MA Route 125 in Ward Hill. The owners of this breakfast and lunch restaurant also own Casey’s Diner in Plaistow, NH. The place is pretty casual with 2 dining areas with wooden floors including the front room with a C shaped counter surrounded by 14 high seats and 3 tables for 4 people each. The back dining room has ample soft booths. As for the food offerings, they offer traditional American fare. The breakfast offerings include eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, homemade hash, and breakfast sides. The lunch offerings include sandwiches, wraps, melts, burgers, salads, soups, and dinners(steak tips, kielbasa, broiled burgers, Meatloaf, pot roast, Chicken). Pepsi fountain drinks here. I stopped here for breakfast recently, early AM. I was offered coffee as I sat myself at the counter. The fresh brewed coffee($ 1.75) was good, poured into a Casey’s Diner mug. I ordered the Irish Omelet($ 8.00) with home fries and wheat toast, egg beaters style(add $ 1). The very generous plate of hot food arrived in under 10 minutes. The big Omelet was a folded egg sheet filled with grilled homemade corned beef hash, sauerkraut, and melted Swiss cheese). The home fries were lightly grilled fresh cut potatoes, seasoned with salt. The wheat toast cut in triangles were lightly buttered, Welch’s preserves at the tables. I had some of my breakfast boxed to go. Overall, the food was tasty and filling. The service here was good and I was offered refills on the coffee, which I definitely needed. I can recall that there was an Unofficial Unilocal Event(UYE) several years ago in this same building when it was Evenfall.
