The macarons are definitely pretty, and they come in a nice secure case — even though the flavors sound delicious, the flavors of the macarons all seem to taste the same after a couple of bites. I think Dana’s does a good job in offering a variety of ‘flavor’ options, but I just wish the taste was a bit more stronger in what they’re labeled as! For a macaron lover, the subscription can be a nice gift idea.

After having a second shipment sent out after all of the first were hard and crunchy and one falling apart before even being touched the second was the same. For the price these macaroons are not consistent or fresh.

I am always in search of macarons. I love them so. It is embarrassing to think how many different ones I have eaten over they years. They are not for everybody, not super sweet, with the main components being almond flour, egg whites, cream of tartar, confectioner’s sugar and flavoring. My fiancé is not really a fan of them of them unless I purchase them here from Dana’s because of the really amazing macs they make. Unfortunately both of Dana’s locations are on the East Coast in NJ and NY, so I must order these delectable little desserts online which are yes, expensive, but in my opinion, very worth it, for the amazing flavors they have here.
I read about the unique flavors of macs they have here some time ago online. I ordered a Build A Box of a dozen of assorted flavors where you can choose your own flavors from the macaron menu online.
The flavors vary depending on the season but there are a core group of set macarons, too. My absolute favorite flavors of the macarons I have ordered in the past have been Fruity Cereal which tastes just like Fruity Pebbles, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Orange Creamsicle which tastes exactly like the ice cream treat and S’Mores. There are definitely some unique flavors here and they are very true to the actual flavor. A lot of macarons I have eaten in past from different places may be a certain flavor but just sorta taste like this flavor but not Dana’s. The flavors are very true to what they say they are.
I have purchased these macarons for gifts in the past and received gifts from this bakery from my dear friends who know of my mac obsession here ;) The shipping is expensive because they ship in dry ice in an insulated Dana’s Bakery bag to ensure freshness. In my experience, they have always shipped well and arrive fresh with the two day shipping on dry ice. The presentation is very nice for gift giving, too.
They do a lot of seasonal flavors for hoiidays like Easter and Christmas and sporting events, like currently having special flavors for Super Bowl available right now representing the two participating teams. I do wish Dana’s would come to CA, so I could have access to this bakery in person, but for now, I will have to be satisfied ordering my macs online from my favorite macaron bakery at

I purchased some macs for my son’s first birthday party, not only were they delicious, the colors matched our theme perfectly! The guests were impressed with the variety of flavors and we couldn’t be happier! Will definately be ordering again.

I live in the Boston area and couldn’t find any good quality macarons, so i took to the internet. I stumbled across Dana’s Bakery, they were slightly more expensive than my usual macaron purchases but i was looking for good quality so i gave it a shot. My first Build-​a-​Box order was placed on a Monday at 11 am it cost me $ 30 for the dozen treats and $ 13.10 for the shipping, they came the following day at 2 pm through Ups. I received them in a nicely packaged insulated container with an ice pack. I was very pleased, but it got even better when i tried the macarons they were absolutely delicious crunchy shell creamy sweet ganache. They were sublime. I just had to order some more. I placed another order on Friday, it clearly says on the website they would be shipped on Monday to avoid weekend over lay. I got to the check out and this time the shipping was $ 15 instead of $ 13.10. I didn’t mind the slight increase for the quality. I expected them to arrive on that Tuesday due to being shipped out on Monday. I received an email on Monday that the order had been shipped out which included my tracking number. The tracking number said my package was not found. I called Fedex on Tuesday to handle the issue where i was able to track my macarons. They were not shipped out until Tuesday. I received them Today (Wednesday) and the were all cracked and broken. Now of course this isn’t Dana’s Bakery’s fault that my package was miss handled but i am quite disappointed that i paid $ 15 for shipping for a package i expected on Tuesday that didn’t come till the following day and my sweet treats were damaged. I’m going to have to try to find some places more local in hopes of non damaged macarons and the expensive shipping fees for things to be miss handled.

We ordered a dozen assorted macaroons from them and they came promptly in a very nice reusable carry case with a plastic ice packet. Obviously thats where they spend their money since the macaroons were inedible. They varied from tasteless to some overcooked to the extent that they could not be eaten. One was undercooked, a couple dried out and sandy on the palate, and the flavors were at best barely detectable. Very disappointing. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen, but at the prices they charge they sure need better quality control and should spend more time on better flavors and less on fancy packaging.

Woah but these are amazing. Went to the website and ordered a dozen. A Tad expensive but they are delivered in a cool manner with a freezer pack to keep them in good shape. So you get what you pay for and the flavors were pretty amazing. Just ordered 2 dozen more and am waiting on the darn fed ex person. HURRY UP MAN! EXCELLENT PRODUCT! Classy delivery!

Not worth the money! Go to the mall and purchase! They are much bigger and just as tasty! Dana ‘s bakery macarons are tiny bite size! And over priced for a dozen! Hard to find also! In back of a building off Utter Ave in Hawthorne! Not on Utter Ave! Not worth the money!

THE BEST AND FRESHEST MACARONS IVE EVER ORDERED ONLINE! I’ve tried macarOncafe online (before visiting one in store at their NYC location) which were my first time trying macarons but the 24-​pack I bought online were so stale compared to eating them in-​store. These ones however were soft it literally melted in my mouth! Upon delivery it’s store in a neat little insulated cooler bag with ice packs! I placed an order on Sunday evening only to get emailed that my order was shipped out Monday morning!!! It was so fast that I actually worried about how fresh the batch they sent would be but when I got it I had nothing to worry about! It arrived early Tuesday morning and it was the best $ 30 I’ve ever spent On a box of 12 macarons. One of the things aside from shipping I wished they’d change would be the box sizes they offer. They offer the macaron towers but $ 150+ for a tower of 40 macarons is a bit much when you don’t want the tower (just the macarons!). Love that you can customize the flavor you want AND that you can get or give subscriptions (asking this as a birthday gift definitely!!)
The only flavor I was truly disappointed with (of course the one I bought the most of out of all the flavored! :() was the champagne flavor macaron. I know it’s champagne-​infused buttercream filling but I just didn’t get any taste of it in these macarons, I forced myself to eat the other two and asked my boyfriend to eat the fourth one (which is saying a lot bc when it comes to macarons I’m not big on sharing lol). Was also shocked by how different the champagne macarons looked compared to the images online (I know they shouldn’t look exactly like online photos) but the actual macaron is actually an off white color with very little to no gold dust on top — I almost thought it was the wrong flavor! Birthday cake exceeded my expectations and the filling was on point! The purple color was a lot deeper than how tie dye it looks online but I didn’t mind since the flavor was so good. The red velvet is honestly the best red velvet cake flavor I’ve had since Starbucks sold their red velvet cupcakes (RIP)…I’m purchasing more of all or half a box of just the red velvet that’s how good it is. Red velvet, Chocolate molten and smores were much richer in flavor compared to everything else and the flavors were better than any cake I’ve ever had! Fruity cereal was a much thicker and harder cookie to bite into but that’s expected since it’s mostly a crunchy cereal. This flavor was well executed too though and I’d definitely get more. Plan to try thin mints, cookie dough, orange creamsicle, and strawberry next. After the champagne flavor leaving me underwhelmed, I’m not as willing to try out the cosmopolitan, mimosa flavors but would be willing to try those and margarita and sangria if it was gifted. I love that they give out promotion codes in their emails bc I am definitely a HUGE fan and this review is after only my first try through an online order!!!
I live in south jersey but if I was closer to their location id probably be there every other day in-​store. I told my boyfriend instead of a cake, as he gets for every birthday of mine, I wanted two boxes of build a box macarons! I’d love to just drive and pick up my macarons but it would def have to be thoroughly planned as I live 2.45 hours away :/​The shipping is expensive ($ 11.95) but is reasonable due to the overnight shipping to get them to you fresh but I wish fellow NJ citizens could get a little break on it! Definitely stock up on a couple boxes so you get your money’s worth on shipping. Definitely an American take on French macarons, with the chocolate molten/s’mores/red velvet/​fruity pebbles and red velvet flavored they have, I can honestly say the selection, flavor options and overall execution is the best of all the macarons I’ve had so far. I can honestly say I adore this place more than laudereè, macarOncafe, and other NYC macaron shops I’ve tried.

I’ve recently tried these Macarons in my attempt to try macs from as many different places as possible. First, be aware if you’re going directly to the bakery to get them, that this is not a café bakery– it’s literally the headquarters where they bake. I went expecting to sit down and try a Mac with some tea and maybe see what other baked goods they carry and I was quite surprised not to be able to do so. I’m very happy that they do allow us to pick up the macs though and avoid shipping costs. Dana excepts credit cards over the phone or cash in person and everything was ready and nicely packaged when I arrived. It was hard to find at first, as its behind another building and I was as I said looking for a café type shop. But now that I know it’s behind the carpet place, it will be easy.
On to the macs– delicious! The best I’ve tried so far. Unique flavors that are spot on. Highly recommend. They also have a shop in NYC that I think is more of a café.

My experience with Dana’s started a couple of weeks ago when I came across their website while hunting for highly rated macarons to get for this years family Christmas. I was impressed by their selection and the reviews I had read on the quality of their macarons. So I decided to order 2 of their holiday packs to give them a try as a first time customer.
I usually have my my shopping done but was running late this year so I opted for the shipping option to have them delivered before Christmas Eve. I ordered them on a Sunday and hadn’t gotten an email confirmation so I mailed customer service Monday morning just to make sure my order had went through. To my relief, I got a prompt courteous reply from their customer service saying that they had my order and they would ship out in time.
A couple of days later I received my macarons, however that’s when things got interesting. The box looks like someone had used it as a punching bag and was ripped at the top. I immediately got worried and snapped some pictures with my phone before opening. When I did open, I found that someone helped themselves and stole half of the macarons in the box.
I sent the pictures and a description of what happened to Dana’s customer support, not expecting much but I was really just at a loss beings it ruined my plans for Christmas. Not 5 minutes after I sent the message, my phone is ringing and it’s Dana herself! She immediately offered to send another shipment to replace the missing macarons and would still get them to me before Christmas Eve.
I was completely blown away with the level of customer service, especially for a first time customer during what I’m sure is an extremely busy time. Sure enough, today ¹²⁄₂₃ — I got my replacement order!
Thanks again Dana — you saved the day for me and you’ve earned a repeat customer as well as a recommendation for anyone looking for the best macarons!

After some time I did receive my refund and a gift card to compensate for the inconveniences. I decided to save it for a rainy day. Cyber Monday came along and It was buy 1 case get a case free! So of course I stepped on that and received them within 2 days of purchase. And let me say… they were AMAZING!
I am from MI and alot of places make these really unusually creamy macaron flavors but Dana takes the cake. The flavors are awesome the filling isn’t too sweet (Thin Mint is definitely going to get re-​purchased) it’s perfect. The outside was soft with a slight crackle when bitten into.
In other words they were fresh :)
I am very happy to say that although there were some setbacks for my husbands birthday. We made up for it with an early Christmas present

After having another go at Dana’s Bakery from macarons straight from the Bakery itself, I had to update my review. It was a completely different experience.
The packaging was beautiful and it arrived the day after it was shipped. The colors of the macarons were equally as amazing– very vibrant. The favors were spot on. I like to think of it as an American take on the macaron as the flavor profiles are much more in your face (in the best way possible). My two favorites were the Thin Mint and Key Lime Pie. But it’s so hard to choose, because they’re all so good. And don’t worry about ordering too much because they freeze really well.
Dana really went the extra mile and you can tell how much she loves her job in every bite. I wouldn’t hesitate to order straight from the bakery again. Definitely a fan.

I have been ordering from Dana’s Bakery for several months now, and I can’t seem to get enough of these wonderful macarons!
For Xmas, I bought a tower of macs for our family holiday party and it was a HUGE hit with the family. In fact, I am sure that several family members placed orders after tasting the flavors. Birthday cake flavor was a big hit at the party or maybe that is just my favorite.
I was skeptical at first having macarons shipped to Miami, but every time they arrive fresh and cold from the special packaging and efforts to ship.
In fact, I have now started shipping macarons through Dana’s Bakery to my friends and clients too for them to enjoy. Such a great corporate gift and also birthday present. She always includes notes written for the special event.
What else can I say, I love these macarons and I am a macaron snob. I recommend them to all my friends.

I’ve been a fan for over a year — ordering macarons for basically every special occasion, party, and gift-​giving situation I can think of. Sometimes I just order a few boxes to have on hand for when I meet with clients. Especially because you can keep the macarons in the freezer!
It’s so easy to order online and send to friends in the midwest for things like new baby celebrations or engagement gifts for when I can’t be there in person. The recipients are always so thrilled, and I guess since the macarons are so pretty, they send me photos of their goodies. I’m always pleased to see that they’ve arrived in beautiful condition, which makes me feel much more at ease about shipping such a delicate product across the country.
The macarons are delicious — crazy good. I bring them to parties, and everyone who tries them flips out over how amazing they taste. Peanut Butter & Jelly and Fruity Cereal have been the fan favorites!
My favorite thing about Dana’s Bakery is that they’re just so fun, they love fun — fun flavors, fun events, and are always up for taking chances on making custom macaron colors and flavors! Their customer service team is so accommodating. They’ve helped with wedding favors, baby showers, and birthdays for my nieces and nephews — every time a total success.
I can say so much more, but you should definitely try it!

I have celiac disease and ordered $ 70 of macaroons in May because they were advertised as gluten free. I had them at two different times of the day and I ended up getting sick in two waves. The company at first denied they could have had any problems with the process, but admitted they were not testing them for gluten. They finally agreed to have them tested by a company that they were working with to start testing them, but it has been 3 months and no one has followed up with me and I have not gotten any sort of a refund.
If you have celiac disease, this may not be the place for you to get macaroons.

Dana personally called me that same evening I received the macarons. She was very sweet, and I could tell how much she cares about her customers and business. She also gave me a FULL refund for my entire order of 40 macarons.
I will give them another chance if I ever have to plan another event that calls for having macarons.
