ABC tech had diagnose the problem, to fix the problem would cost $ 679.00 that’s the cost of the part I was told, so I went to the next room called appliance parts distributor and the cost of the part was only $ 259 plus tax.$ 400 mark up? Unbelievable! I will do it myself.

We woke up recently to a very cold house and discovered our furnace wasn’t working. So we did some research and called a company that had some reputable reviews, ABC Cooling & Heating. They sent out one of their guys to take a look. He showed us that the fuse had blown and that a wire had become disconnected and corroded. He listed several repair options (replace the SSU switch, run a new wire from there to the furnace, possibly have to get a new fan and motor, etc.). He estimated those cost may be in the neighborhood of $ 600. The other option was to replace the furnace with a new one, but a different person had to come out to give us a quote, which we couldn’t schedule until the following week, which we did receive. But we decided to get a second opinion and I’m glad we did (look for my review starting w the letter «N» and that is a coastal region in France). The second opinion came out today, took a look at the furnace, reconnected the wire and voilà we have our heat back. For the $ 59 service fee, ABC didn’t even attempt that simple fix. To ABC’s credit, both service men were very polite, (and Mike Stone was very good about explaining the different furnace options and not recommending the most expensive) but these companies just want to push you into buying something new rather than attempt to repair something. It was such an easy fix and I could have been writing a great review for ABC rather than the one I wrote for Norm.

During the busy winter season when our heater was broken, they were able to come by for an estimate in a few days and install a new wall heater the next week. I was very please with Jeff’s customer service and responsiveness.

When a company has a customer-​based business philosophy aimed at doing a good job and providing good service for its customers, it is obvious rather quickly. We needed a new furnace and ductwork and we needed it fast. Jeff determined our needs, went over our options, and came up with a plan on the spot. Before he left our home for the initial meeting, we had a written bid and a firm date for scheduling the work, which was important because we had no working heat in the house and the cold weather was fast approaching. Without asking, we were told how we could obtain energy rebates that we were entitled to. He came up with a bottom line which was not only far below the next nearest bid, it included better equipment. The job involved an energy audit and 3 days of installation. At each step, we were given email and phone reminders the day before the service people would arrive. They showed up on time each time. The installers, Allan and Mike, were friendly, polite, and efficient. They kept us abreast of the progress as they worked. At the end of the job, they spent some time explaining use and maintenance of the new furnace. They cleaned up the debris and left the place as they found it. The result: a beautiful new furnace that was installed exactly on schedule and at price. I can’t imagine anything that could have made this job better. It was a pleasure dealing with them from start to finish, which was very welcome considering it was a job that could have gone south in so many ways. Thanks ABC!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Mike Stone and was thoroughly impressed with his knowledge, expertise and honesty. I thought my ducts needed replacement but Mike’s expert assessment of the situation indicated that I needed water-​proofing as my ducts were in good shape. Individuals like Mike are a rarity these days where money seems to be the first priority. But to me, integrity and honest speaks volumes and I know precisely who to contact the next time I need any cooling and heating services. Thanks again Mike!

My air conditioner stopped working and I called ABC Cooling for an appointment. I asked that they call me prior to the arrival of the technician and they did, and he arrived at the promised time. After letting me know what the issue was, the technician, Bruce, diagnosed and repaired my unit very quickly and at a very reasonable cost. I would definitely recommend ABC!

My good friend Anna recently used this company who replaced her furnace and was very happy with the service she received. From the receptionist to the salesperson Michael Stone and the installers, she received the best service she has ever experienced. Everything was completed on time, and it is now working perfectly. Anna was kept fully informed of the complete procedure and had all her questions answered in a timely and courteous manner. She highly recommends this company and will continue to use them.

Our ac fan stopped running last noc called several companies but they are all booked and earliest schedule is next day. called ABC and customer service Gabe was able to get me squessed in today. Craig the technician came after 7 pm and was very polite and courteous even after a long day. he changed the capacitor and did a thorough check of the other components making sure everything is ok. Paid $ 59 service call plus $ 160 for original carrier capacitor. Great service

ABC did a great job on our recent furnace install.
The sales rep Bill was very courteous and professional, and did a through evaluation of possible options with pricing during the home visit. He was really patient explaining options and when in doubt called the main office to get expert opinion from the installers. We appreciated that Bill didn’t try to push the most expensive products, he agreed that something more basic was good enough for our needs.
We opted for an in-​home energy energy assessment ($ 175) to figure out additional improvements and whether we qualified for PG&E rebates. The assessment turned up issue with inadequate water heater ventilation that was fixed along with furnace install. In the end our total work was not eligible for rebate, but the assessment was still money well spent to get a comprehensive look at home air leakage, insulation quality, etc.
Furnace install took a day including the water heater fixes and cutting a new air return for increased air flow. The crew arrived on time, worked quickly, and didn’t leave any mess.
After install the furnace blower was making some strange noises. ABC sent a technician right away to fix, and it’s been working flawlessly for several weeks now.

We had ABC installed a new furnace after the old one failed inspection when we bought our house. They did a fantastic job. Their staff is extremely friendly and professional. They are very knowledgeable and even informed us of an energy rebate program. Never did they try to push any extra sales stuff on us.
They came out six months later and gave us a no cost quality assurance inspection to make sure the system is working properly.
All around very pleased with ABC.

You can please some of the people some of the time and I am pleased by the service we received from Justin, at ABC Cooling & Heating Services, on diagnosing and fixing our heating, fan, and air conditioner unit. Justin was professional, patient (I have many questions and am not a hoverer, but did take an interest in process). Justin explained things clearly and in simple language that I could understand. He was respectful, efficient, and courteous. We could recommend this company and recognize Justin for his professionalism.

We have been using ABC for many years now. They always arrive on schedule. They always do an excellent job. Neat and clean! They have replaced our furnaces, air cons and water heater. Very cost effective. We also use their annual maintenance plan and have our regular guy come out. He always does the job without looking for extra services or revenue for the company.

I had them assess a non working heater and they charged me $ 59 to tell me it was a broken wall thermostat and that it would cost $ 225 to fix it. Really? a new wall thermostat at Home Depot is $ 20. I then checked on the the thermostat myself a week later and low and behold it was in the off position. The heat then came on when I flicked the switch to on. Scam scam scam! Now they won’t refund my money either …
Update: Andrea called to discuss my problems with this service call and she seemed very concerned and honest about things. I decided I should give them a point back for following up and being concerned. The other thing is that they did return my money after an accounting blunder they had to correct and I also think there was an unusual delay with my credit card. So I gave them back another point.

After being without heat for a month, I called ABC Heating on a Monday afternoon to request a technician ASAP. I was given an appointment time frame for Thursday, and when Thursday came, I called at the beginning of the appointment window to confirm the time frame. My reservation did not appear in the system. I spoke to two different representatives, one of which who called back to assure me a technician would arrive between 6:00 and 8:00pm. I never heard back, and no technician appeared.

Today Craig came to the house and performed a Furnace tune-​up at our house. This is the kind of guy you want messing with your furnace… Very knowledgeable and he explained everything he was doing while he checked out our furnace. He was careful to cover his boots up with «booties» when inside the house and pointed out some things that may be a concern in the future. I can’t speak for any other employees at ABC, but I 100% recommend Craig.

Had ABC out a few weeks ago to accomplish three things: 1) fix the condensate pump on our AC 2) to estimate the replacement of some garage ducting from flexible to solid to be in compliance with code, 3) to estimate the fabrication and installation of a sheet metal air return for our main furnace.
Long story short they wont send an install team for any job less than $ 2000.00. So if you have a small job that needs any moderately complicated work then these guys are prob not for you.
Had to call three times to get them to commit to my smaller job ($ 690.00 for four hours of work plus parts). Once they did commit they sent a nice guy from the repair side knowing he did not have the right equipment to complete the job. I was told by their Sales Rep that I needed to have a 20.25″ x 24.25″ space framed out by by contractor so they could build a sheet metal box large enough to ensure proper airflow.
They were trying to install a smaller round duct pipe to a very large return grill not what we had agreed upon.
I stopped all work and sent him on his way. Moments later I did receive a call from the company stating that the guy they sent was not up for the task, and they could not help me unless I met their $ 2000.00 min. I do not have $ 2000.00 of work that I need completed by them at this time… so it ended there.
I have now paid to have the wall framed out for the air return, have lost a week on my project, and now will be another week behind schedule. possibly out more money if additional framing is needed. Bummed out.

Not impressed. I waited a year to post, to see if the ‘patch’ would work.
I paid $ 60 for a tech to come out and see why the heater worked but not the a/​c. He said «blower, possible to replace but not recommended because the whole system was so old». The next day the saleman came out REEEAKING of 420 smoke. I have asthma and standing near him outside I had to stay upwind. Not cool. He kept telling me what I «wanted» — oversized overpowered brand new unit — $ 8,000!!! I kept telling him no, I had never had central heat/​air, wanted a cheaper solution. I told him to «write it down», give me choices.
Sales guy insisted I needed everything replaced.
A friend looked at the blower, noticed 3 attachment points — high, med, low. Low was wired for the heat, high was attached to a/​c. Since I seldom use the a/​c, after some discussion he wired the a/​c to the (previously unused) medium. That was a year ago, and the unit has performed perfectly.
Not everyone has a friend who’s a former hvac guy. Too bad.
I’m going to suggest a second opnion, these guys seem to push the $$$$ option.

ABC Cooling VS. Climate Control Heating
In December I called ABC Cooling and heating to come and assess why only half my house was heating up. For a fee they came by and told me I had two broken ducts.
The heating guy said they would schedule someone else to come by and give me a quote to fix them.
A few days later another guy comes by and gives me a quote stating even though I have two broken ducts all of them needed to be replaced because my ducking is old and they don’t make the parts for my ducts anymore.
I asked how much would that be along with why I had to replace all of them. He stated it would be $ 475 a duct and I have 10 ducts so approximately $ 4750. I stated that $ 475 a duct seemed kind of high since I have another home which is about an hour away and I had to replace all the ducking in that house (earlier that year) and they charged me $ 250 a duct. He asked where it was and stated labor is much higher in the bay area and $ 475/​duct is pretty much a standard rate.
I went on to ask if he could just some how patch the two broken ducts because I did not want to spend the money to replace all of them. He went on to tell me that my house is old (built in 1979) and they no longer make those ducts and he would not have replacement parts for that and the only way to restore my heating throughout the house is to replace them all. He wrote me a quote of $ 4750 (which I have uploaded a copy onto Unilocal) and I told him I had to think about it.
About two months later, I could not stand the lack of heat in my house and called around to get other quotes from heating companies. I called Climate Control Heating and asked the guy how much does it cost to replace a duct and he stated to me between $ 225 — $ 250 depending how long the duct needs to be. I made an appointment for someone to come out to replace two ducts. He stated to me that he his company had to do an inspection of their own before they just replace the duct. I asked him how much that would be and he said he would not charge me for that. That was great!
The guy came out and inspected my place and said I did have two broken ducts but because the ducts were underneath the house it may require some digging in the narrow area of my house but he said he can replace the two ducts and quoted me a cost between $ 400 — $ 600 due to the location of the ducts and the extra work that may be required to dig. Needless to say, I hired him to do the work and while doing it he found a 3^rd broken duct and charged me $ 650 instead of $ 600 and I was completely fine with that.
He didn’t try and sell me on some expensive package or (what I felt like the other company did) try and take advantage of me being a woman and quoting me SOME RIDICULOUS PRICE!
I couldn’t believe that ABC Cooling wanted to charge me $ 4750 for a job and told me there was no way they could just replace 2 ducts and all 10 ducts had to be done. When I got the next quote from Climate Control (I also have uploaded a copy of my final bill) he quoted me only what needed to be done and wow what a surprise they had parts that fit for my so called old house. And my heating works GREAT!!!
Shame on you ABC Cooling!

Outstanding customer service and honest work. Very happy with them! This is my second time using them and it was another great experience!
Last year, I used their service to come and replace my back room thermostat. Santiago came to do that and he was extremely helpful and courteous. He then cleaned the heating ducts and filters, and was extremely efficient. He checked the health of my heaters, which I thought might be too old and unsalvegable, but he was honest and said that the system are okay for the time being, but that the furnace blower may be going out of balance.
Today, I got my prepaid Guardian Maintenance done. I requested Santiago because he was just wonderful. Again, I had a very honest, pleasant experience as he tried to replace my front room thermostat but for some reason, it wasn’t working. He spent a lot of time troubleshooting the issue, but couldn’t make it work. I think it is our old wiring to our heater. I appreciated his diligence and effort. He thinks that the thermostats might have been a bad batch and will further look into it.
I appreciate good customer service and ABC Cooling goes above and beyond!

This is not the first time where my experience has been contrary to Unilocal reviews.
Not sure if ABC fits the category.
First the appointment for inspection took time. Then, the estimator was trying to sell me saying ‘We are highly rated on Unilocal and we are busy. «, rather than focusing on current task and customer. I believe they are drowned by Unilocal reviews. Next, it has been 3 weeks and estimator has not responded. Then, he was spending time on my home décor rather than on HVAC issue.
I would stay away since there are many other professional and better quality companies around.
