We worked with Wei on our master bedroom and bath remodel. They took a 650sqft cavernous room and tore it down to the studs. They then completely reframed the ceiling and put in new walls in order to create a larger bathroom in a new location. Wei’s crews did demolition, plumbing, electrical, windows, stucco, drywall, tile, flooring, paint, and gutters. They also installed a new electrical subpanel with additional dedicated circuits for the new outlets. We were extremely happy with the results and have been recommending them to family and friends. They also did my mother-in-law’s 3 bathrooms and she was very pleased with their work as well.
Pros: Prices are very competitive, their crew is highly skilled and will follow your design plan but also provide advice as they see fit, and they work very efficiently. Our inspections went very smoothly thanks to the years of experience they have been working in Fremont.
Tip: They are very busy, so expect a long wait and book way ahead. Plan around 6 months out for larger projects.

Thanks to Unilocal we found the ideal contractor for our kitchen remodel. We had been told horror stories by people of disappearing contractors, jobs that dragged on for months, and shoddy workmanship. Well, not here. We had gotten quotes from different contractors and felt that HB Kitchen Bath was both reasonable and very competitive. The fact that they have showroom really helped us in deciding the cabinets, counter top, flooring, etc. Once the project started, everything was organized and implemented seamlessly. One crew after another came in to do their specialty. Richard kept us up to date on each step by calling or texting us. He returned our texts very quickly. He made us feel like our project was his number one priority.

Nearing the end of our major plumbing project (see:
), we called Wei at HB Kitchen Bath Inc. for help to re-​tile our bathroom.
Wei sent his best tiler, Master Chen, who previously worked on our house, to complete the job.
We are so thankful and happy that Master Chen did a superb job in laying down new 2ft x 2ft tiles with ¹⁄₈ inch grout separations.
The result was as if nothing has ever happened to our bathroom! And it was all done on a Saturday just before Christmas (2015)!
We would recommend Wei and crew any time and to any one in need of home remodeling jobs because of their speed, quality and attention to details.

I was recommended HB by our realtor. We had most of the condo remodeled (kitchen/​fireplace/​bedroom/​bathroom) and the project was finished 3 weeks on schedule. This is our first condo in CA and Wei gave us very valuable advise to help save us money. Wei had great communication; he always called back or texted on the same day. All the work was done by Wei and his team, none of the remodeling was outsourced.
When we encountered some issues with HOA Wei handled all of it, including working out a solution with the City Council.

Wei is super busy. We had to wait for a few months before his crew became available to work on our house. His bid was reasonable and we are happy with the quality of work as well.
Next time we have home improvement projects, we’ll try to get a bid from Wei again.

Richard (primary point of contact for me at HB) and Wei (designer) did a great job. We remodeled two bathrooms and kitchen, everything replaced, it was a big job and they did it gracefully. They worked with us on every detail, recommending shopping spots to scheduling pickups and construction times (including working around a family emergency). Richard was available late when I’d call after work. We had some smaller projects also like removal of popcorn ceiling, painting and new light fixtures — all of this was taken care of. I don’t think I could have found a better team to do this job for us. They know what they are doing. The quality of workmanship is excellent also. I have received compliments from guest, some of which had bad experiences with their contractors. After about a month or so I got an email from them asking how things are going. They really care about what they do and customer satisfaction. I highly recommend the Hong Bo Construction team.

We needed a kitchen remodel so we did a search on Unilocal for the top 3 contractors with 4 – 5 stars in our area. After receiving quotes from all 3 contractors Hong Bo construction was the most competitively priced. Wei and Richard were very easy to work with and designed the kitchen exactly the way we wanted it. His suggestions on the kitchen layout and where and what materials to buy were very helpful. Also, his recommendation on where to buy appliances saved us a ton of $$$. End result was perfect and they warranty their work so if any problems arise just give them a call. I guess the only negative is they are in high demand so it can take several months to book them.

We remodeled two bathrooms and it was quite a big job because we have to knock down a wall for one of the bathroom. It was originally a two-​sink corridor separated with a door to the toilet/​bathtub. We remodeled it to be one big bathroom. I posted a picture of the after picture.
The other bathroom was pretty simple, but still a complete remodel with new tiles, toilet, cabinets, and sink.
The design was all mine and I had very specific ideas. Wei, the owner, pretty much understood everything I wanted in one conversation. The bathroom today is pretty much what I had envision in my head.
Everything was done according to schedule and it was over a year ago and we have no problems with anything.
I highly recommend this company for remodeling. The tile work is amazing: layout is well-​thought and super-​thin grout lines just like I wanted.

Hong Bo construction did an amazing job on our remodel. (added 1 bathroom, redid 2 bathrooms, complete redo of kitchen including removing a load bearing wall)
Wei is incredibly easy to work with and he really wants to make sure you are happy with the remodel. Every remodel has some changes or the other and Wei is with you every step of the way to make sure everything works out and we love the end results.
The quote was competitive and well priced.
Note: A few points to consider:
1. You are responsible for your remodel design, which is fine by us because we wanted to design it.
2. Hong Bo folks are in demand — our remodel was done over a period of time.
Bottomline: The quality of the work done is excellent and the pricing is reasonable. I highly recommend this team.

My friend introduced HB Construction to me, I had them installed kitchen backsplash, replaced the microware with a range hood, and installed curtain racks for me. The job was beautifully done, I am 100% happy with it. The price is also great. The two men from the company that came to my house to do the work are really nice and friendly guys, and they were very careful in protecting my furniture and cleaned up my house after the job. Wei (the owner) also checked with me whether I’m happy with the work after it’s done. This is a great experience. Would definitely recommend HB to anyone in the bay area who’s planning some remodeling.

HB Kitchen Bath was a breath of fresh air compared to the other stores specializing in Kitchen/​Bath cabinets. We were shopping around for high quality and affordable kitchen cabinets and HB offered the best value (dovetail drawers, soft closing doors, thick drawers/​body, all wood, etc…).
To add to this, Wei (owner) was impeccable throughout the whole process. The level of service he provided and the rest of the staff was night and day compared to the other stores in the area. He was very patient and very easy to work with. He was always reachable when I had some questions or needed some advice on our kitchen design.
And to top it all, the cabinets on delivery were beautiful.
I can’t recommend HB Kitchen Bath high enough.

This was our first ever experience working with a contractor, so it’s hard to judge how Hong Bo stacks up against other contractors. But overall, we were very satisfied.
We recently bought a 2/2.5 townhouse, and Wei and Richard and crew remodeled the whole thing. Bathrooms, kitchen, painting, flooring (laminate and carpet), electrical outlets and switches, recessed lighting, and tiling (backsplash and floors).
Because we had never used a contractor before, I turned to Unilocal for recommendations. I had read and heard a lot of horror stories about contractors being slow or unresponsive or might take your money while finishing other projects or might only work on your job one or two days out of the week. So when looking for a contractor, I looked for someone who wouldn’t be like that. I read reviews about Hong Bo and Wei on Unilocal,and he seemed like someone I could trust. He came over with Richard, and they gave us an estimate the next day.
After meeting Wei and Richard, I felt like these were the guys I wanted working on my house. They were personal and friendly and seemed dedicated to getting our job done quick and right, just like many other reviewers said. So, we hired them to work on our home.
Super nice guys. They didn’t take my money and disappear. They were always working hard. They were always responsive to my text messages, phone calls, and emails. Wei was really flexible with us because my wife and I were buying and picking out everything for the house as they were remodeling. We must’ve slowed them down and thrown off their schedule and norms, but Wei never complained. He even helped us a lot with ideas and leads and tips. It didn’t feel like they were nickel and diming us even as we were modifying the scope of the project constantly, and they really helped us to create the home that we wanted.
We’ve recommended Hong Bo to a few of our friends and coworkers, and in the future, we plan to use Hong Bo for other house-​related needs. Before working with them, I was worried about the headaches I’d go through dealing with a crappy contractor, but now, I’m so glad to know some great guys that I can rely on for contracting needs.

Wei was a very easy person to work with. He was able to quickly come up with a few designs that suited my needs.

Called two weeks ago and set up an appt for bath remodel project. Guy never showed up. Claimed he lost the information. Waste of my precious time on a day off. Totally lame.

Wei and his crew are the best. I had a very good experience working with him. His estimates were reasonable when I compared it with other contractors. He and his crew are sincere, honest and respectful. I think these are very important traits which make any project successful and he has them all !!
Communication with him and his team was excellent through out the project, any suggested corrections were quickly taken into action by his crew. All this helped for successful completion of the project. Wei and his crew’s workmanship of the project is very good and he gives 1 year warranty of the project. My husband and I bought a 50 year old home and did a major remodel (kitchen, 3 bathrooms and more) using Wei and his crew. It was our first time and of course, we were hoping for a contractor that could do a good job, in a short period of time, at an acceptable price point. HBC exceeded our expectations on all points. We are so thankful for the smooth experience and we love our «new» home.
Wei was straightforward and easy to work with from the first meeting getting a quote, to handling every detail of the remodel. He was very responsive and so flexible with any changes/​additions to our project. We weren’t planning to, but we also added central A/​C, insulated the walls, updated interior doors, increased our electric service to 200 amps and more! We named it, and Wei had crew that could do it. And his quotes were always competitive. The crew showed up everyday (even on Saturdays!), worked hard and cleaned up. It always felt like the project was moving along. Post-​completion, there have been few minor things, and still just like that, Wei sends his crew over to take care of it. Awesome.
Of note, input from Wei and his crew even made some of the remodel more aesthetically pleasing (where to put shower niches, what color grout might look better, symmetry with the kitchen cabinets, crown molding in the living room…) At some point, I hope to post before and after pictures, but pics can also be seen on the HBC blog. Friends and family are really impressed with how our remodel turned out. That says alot and means everything. Thanks Wei!

I just called them and when I asked if they could help me with my windows and installing shutters they told me they are crazy busy so they could not help me during this time nor could they recommend anyone to me. Also, when I first called, they did not answer with their company name. Instead, they answered with, «HELLO?»

After watching Property Brothers on HGTV, they make remodeling look easy. However, I’m not exactly Mr. Handy and I don’t have a «Jonathan Scott» to take on my project. My wife and I had our vision for the renovations, but the hard part would be finding a reliable contractor that we could trust to execute our project.
Thank you, Unilocal, because they led us right to WEI and his team. I had Wei and another contractor come in for bids. It was a night and day experience. Wei came in with great ideas and suggestions for my project, while the other contractor was resistant and only wanted to do specific items on our wish list.
Wei provided a very reasonable estimate and was forthcoming about his 3 week overseas vacation if we were to go with him. That would delay our timeline a bit, but in the end, I chose Wei over the other contractor because of my overall impression of him.
Fast forward 2 months later… My wife and I are thrilled with our newly renovated home.
What separates Wei from the others is the communication and attention to details. With any renovation there are always issues that come up, but how is your contractor going to handle them. Wei works well with his team, and they all take great pride in their work. Craftsmanship was superb.

Extremely satisfied with the work Wei and his construction team did. After my parents got their bathroom remodeled by another construction company, I wasn’t so keen on hiring that particular company to get our bathroom done.
Then thankfully my dad found Wei. He is organized, helpful, and efficient when it comes to the chaotic remodeling process. The workers are also equally professional. They cleaned up the mess and dust after and are also skilled at their jobs.
For the bathroom walls I didn’t even realize that the walls were uneven until the tiles were put up in an equal fashion. On the floor there was even a gap in between the bathroom tub and floor tiles, but they were able to remedy that by adding a modern accent piece to the floor that matched the accent piece on the walls.
Compared to my parent’s bathroom mine looks way prettier. After seeing the final product my parents even whined about how their bathroom remodel pales in comparison to ours, especially since theirs cost twice what mine did.
