Great service! Very attentive and friendly staff. I would recommend anyone to this office. They seem to have a lot of knowledge and I appreciate that they have a conservative mindset towards care. Loved it!

Located in the Majestic Pines facility, is Dr. Gunawan and Dr. Navarrette’s office. Dr. Gunawan works as a general dentist while husband, Dr. Navarrette, works as orthodontist. As a husband team, both are very professional and courteous. They are very knowledgeable and willing to educate their patients. They make their patients very comfortable and never leave them in the dark of the procedures performed. Dr. Gunawan is especially good at having very close attention to detail. I feel like she is very easy to talk to.
Personally, I really love this office! The staff is great and very organized with appointment scheduling. Love it.

I have been going to this dentist for quite a few years now. Yesterday I found out I could submit a Unilocal review. So here goes I can’t rave enough about her knowledge professionalism and caring manner. If you have a dental emergency during her office hours she does her best to accommodate you and squeeze you in for a same day appointment. Her staff are a true reflection of her kind and gentle manner. You may walk in as a stranger but the staff will make you feel like a friend by the time you leave the office. They too take emergencies as well as non-​emergency situations seriously and do their utmost to make sure you’re taken care of immediately. I realize there a lot of dentists available in Hayward, but I highly recommend you schedule an appointment you won’t be sorry.

This review is for Dr. Navarete and wanted to share it here since Dr. Gunawan refer me to orthodontic care in her office. I finally took my braces off recently and felt the need to provide some insights throughout my treatment. My treatment took 1 year and 2 months and that is record time! For any one considering braces and concerned about having it on for 2 – 3 years, look no further, go to Dr Alfonso Navarette. He is awesome! I went to all my appointments every month and he always does a great job in updating me on my progress. During each and every visit, he asked me if there was anything visually I want to straighten and I would give him feedback and then he works his magic, tighten, and voila it gets straighter. I listened to all his instructions, used my rubber bands as directed, and went every single month to see him. It was important for me to have the braces removed as soon as possible since I will be getting married next year. And Dr. Navarette listened to all my concerns and guided me throughout the process for phenomenal results. I finally took my braces off and he set an impression of my teeth and gave me my retainer the next morning to minimize any chance of my teeth moving. Then he reviewed with me on how to maintain my teeth during this transitional period. I will still be visiting him monthly and then quarterly so he can ensure my teeth stays straight. I am very impressed with his after care service too. I live in SF and if I can travel 40 minutes to make my monthly appointments so can you! But don’t take my word for it. Was visiting Cali from NY recently when a good friend of mines recommended Dr. Gunawan for a cleaning.
Her office was clean and inviting. Dr. Gunawan was very professional and gentle during my cleaning. Not once did I cringe in pain against the musical sounds of her drill bit and her «assistant» did an awesome job assisting.
I highly recommend and will be back for regular checkups!

This place is located in the «Majestic Pines Medical …(something? office? building?)»
I went in the parking lot and didn’t even realize I was in the right place. So I exited and had to make another u-​turn to go back in the parking lot. Haha.
Anyway, Dr. N was super easy to talk to. He listened to everything I had to say about why I wanted to pull all my teeth out and replace them with some perfect dentures.
After his little examination, he recommended solutions and explained why it would be better and why other options wouldn’t work as well. I must say, it was very insightful. Like a light bulb turned on in my head and I felt smarter all of a sudden.
I’m not fully committed to moving forward with the treatment, but when the time is right, I will definitely be getting it done here…

PS… they’re getting work done on the roof of the building so construction noise level can be a little annoying at times.

This is by far one of the best dentist/​orthodontist that i have ever been to. The staff and both doctors are super awesome. Dr. Joyce is super friendly and does an amazing job with dental problems, in fact she fixes all of your problems. Dr. Navarrete is also an amazing doctor. Also very friendly and ver knowledgeable in braces! Everyone who reads this review should consider changing their current dental office and come to this lovely place! You wont regret it, my hubby and children both come here too so they take all ages patients.
The staff is also friendly and the best thing is that they are all bilingual. I really like that they can give you appointments to fit your daily busy schedule. I really appreciated that i would get 6:00pm appointments when i wasn’t able to come in earlier. And if week days wouldn’t work for me, that wasn’t a problem because this office is also open on weekends!!! I know for a fact that not many places have this option.
So as mentioned above come here and check it out! You will love it as much i love it!!!

Absolutely the best! Was very accommodating with scheduling my appointments as soon as possible due to the fact that I knocked out my front two teeth and needed fillings because I was not about to walk around with two gaps.
Dr. Gunawan is very gentle, caring, nice, and made me feel very comfortable during all the sessions I went to her (I chipped the fillings like 4 times afterwards). Each time, she charged me the same amount (very reasonably priced). When I finally decided to change from fillings to crowns, she even allowed me to use a previous charge for credit for the crowns.
Her office is small and cozy with a spacious parkinglot. All her staff are very welcoming. I am sure I will probably go to her husband for braces, because I was told they work in the same office and he is the orthodontist there. LOVE them and recommend them to anyone who wants quick, efficient, and friendly service at really accommodating prices.

I chose to come to this location because of the convenient location near my work. I also like the fact that they are open after 5 PM, so I can easily get off work and head over there. The staff is really friendly, and they are really accommodating. I have had a fear of going to the dentist for a long time, but the staff really made me feel comfortable. I am glad that I trusted the Unilocal reviews and came here. I can easily email my questions and concerns, and I get a prompt answer back.

I am a law student in bay area and randomly picked this dentist off Unilocal because of the reviewer that mentioned she donated dental supplies to a charity. After two visits I feel comfortable reviewing her.
This is one of the best dentist in the area and you should stop looking and schedule with her for several reasons:
A. She went to NYU and is super smart about dentist stuff.
B. Her staff are nice and like never rude.
C. Totally painless! Believe me, I just had a root canal.
I am someone who never gets along with my dentist. I get nervous, angry, overly sensitive. But this dentist is perfect for you if you are like me!

I am not a fan of dentist, in fact I went to western dental to start on my teeth and braces, they where so horrible. I never went back to finish my braces at all. They did so much damage to my teeth and hurt me so bad in the process that I almost thru up during the dental work.
One day Dr. Ganawen came in to my shop and seen my braces where half finished. I told her about my struggles with western dental. She encouraged me to come in and see her. So I did. I never looked back since. She and her husband are absolutely the best. I hardly felt any pain when getting fillings and deep cleans. They are so caring and stop at any point you need.
I love this place I will never ever ever choose any dentist above them as long as they stay in bizz!!! them both! Thank you so much for the best dental experience.

I am not a patient but rather a student at CSU East Bay, and I help run a student organization that does medical and dental missions in rural countries like Ghana and Honduras. I am writing this review to recognize Dr Alfonso and Joyce Navarrete’s generosity.
This year our school organization, Global Brigades, went to Nicaragua in June for our 9 day medical/​dental mission, and since we are all students that plan for this trip, we raise everything ourselves to make our trip successful so we can provide treatment to over 900 patients.
They offered to lend a hand and donated to us various items such as curing lights and an amalgamator that was beneficial for our trip. I reached out to OVER 20 dentists in the East Bay Area and Dr Alfonso and Joyce Navarette were one of the 2 dentists in the area that only offered to help us out. (Literally offices were telling me they were going to give me a call back or email me back, and I NEVER heard a word back from many of them). Because of their help, we saved hundreds of dollars and we were able to run a successful dental mission for the first time under our organization in Nicaragua. I just wanted to say thank you Dr Navarrete for your kind donation and you deserved to be recognize for all your help!

Only came for the teeth whitening and Dr. Gunawan was really nice and informative.
Wasn’t painful during but after, every now and then, it felt like someone was giving my teeth electrical shock treatment. It’s the weirdest feeling.

Took my daughter here for the first time for a cavity. Dr. Joyce was very sweet and gentle with my six year old knowing that she was scared. Asked my daughter if she like the movie Frozen, then played the sound track & sang a little to help keep her calm. Very good first experience would recommend her and will be coming back.

One of the best if not the best dentist I have known. Her and her husband is very compassionate dentist. They really care about me and my teeth. I wouldn’t want to change my dentist ever again. The most important thing is that is pain free. I had dentist that every time they work on my teeth is always pain but not Dr. «G»

Best dentist ever! Outstanding service, friendly staff, gentle treatment. This isn’t your typical dental visit. I recommend Dr. Gunawan to anyone that suffers with dental visit anxiety, this is the place for you.

My wife and I originally came to Dr. Gunawan because of a special that we found online, plus we needed a new dentist having just moved from Michigan.
We now have been coming to see Dr. Gunawan for 2 years for our bi-​annual checkups, and I have also had one cavity filled. Honestly the entire staff is wonderful and very professional, but also friendly. There are two things in particular that I really appreciate about Dr. Gunawan: 1) she always schedules plenty of time for each appointment so that she can actually sit and talk with you about your teeth, you general health, your life, etc and 2) she takes a number of weekend appointments, so if like me it’s not so easy to take time off work during the week days you can always come in on the weekends.
As I mentioned, my wife and I generally only come in for our bi-​annual checkups and cleanings, but the last time I came in I had a cavity (which I wasn’t too excited about). Rather then making me come back at some later date to have the cavity taken care of, Dr. Gunawan had me sit back down and took care of everything right then/​there.
The office itself is relatively small, but all of the equipment is clean and as I mentioned the staff is very professional and friendly. I don’t have much to compare this office to, but the prices also seem very reasonable.

My beloved dentist in Alameda had to close up shop plus we had moved off the island, so the search for a new dentist commenced. Unilocal!was the source of consultation and ultimately influenced my going to Dr. Gunawan. One word: AWESOMES! She is congenial, comforting, and up to the latest in dental tech. Office is cozy and friendly and they communicate via email very well, which means bonus points from me with my wacky schedule.
Dr. G. efficiently swapped out my ancient amalgam fillings with composites, dealt with my crown and tender gums, and most vital, all with no pain. The post-​visit goodie bags are loaded with fabu dental swag and I got a marvelous price on a sonic toothbrush. Furthermore, Dr. Navarrete gave me an orthodontic consult and recommendation for a specialist in SF, should I choose to pursue treatment closer to home. Love these two – they definitely take away a lot of the stress over dental visits.
