This very kind gentleman assisted me this evening. He graciously told me how to release the emergency brake after it had broken when I pulled it to leave my work parking lot. I am forever grateful and would like everyone to know that his unselfish kindness should be rewarded 10 fold. If you are in need of a mechanic and want an honest person deserving of your patronage I would highly suggest Jaime. God bless him. I wish I could give this gentleman more stars. He is the best. He fixed a major spark plug issue on my Ford Expedition. A problem that a Ford dealership was hesitant to touch. And he charged half the price. I found him here on Unilocal based on reviews and I am lucky I did. Give him a call.

I read the reviews and decided to try him out for a oil change & 60k service. Big mistake!!! A job that should take a day took THREE days. When he finally finished my car, he acted like he added a bunch of «free» services to my car but I got a $ 800 bill. When I looked at the bill, I noticed he charged for things that should be included in the 60k service. Then he told me that in three days he still did not have time to change my spark plugs. So, I had to bring my car in AGAIN. I do not recommend going here. Save your money & time.

I contacted Mechanics R Us after feeling overwhelmed and calling around a few different shops to get a quote to fix the air conditioning in my car. The air conditioning system was fine, I just needed to add Freon to it. Everywhere I called quoted me at around $ 120 and up. After reading the reviews for this place I decided to call them and give them a try. They quoted me at $ 50! So much better than what I was hearing before. They scheduled an appointment with me an hour later and the process took less than 5 minutes and only $ 50. They are honest brothers, and I truly respect that they don’t try to take advantage of their customers. I will definitely be going back. You guys were great!

Jaime is my go to mechanic! I had him replace the clutch in my truck a few months back, then replace the lugs and studs for my wheels last week. He does great work at fair prices. He’ll let you know what you absolutely have to take care of and what can wait. Whenever I have any issues with my truck, I come here. Jaime is an honest guy who does great work.

Brought a potential car we were looking into purchasing to Jaime for a «pre-​purchase inspection». The seller had told me it just passed smog, was recently detailed & had fairly new tires. (Before I took it to the shop, i test drove it myself & noticed there was a weird smell in the car; I should’ve ran when my prego nose smelled that. lol)
Jaime took it for a test drive with us and one thing we agreed upon was it ran smooth. Good suspension, brakes were good, no overheating going up hill, no shaking going downhill. Some major flaws though were the A/​C didn’t work in the front, the inside lights didn’t work (electrical problem?), the tires would need to be replaced soon AND when he ran the diagnostics check — the memory had been cleared. Meaning there was a check engine light on but since the memory was erased there was no telling if the problem was fixed or not. Also, Jaime assured me that this vehicle would most definitely NOT pass smog. Therefore, what I thought was a good buy — ended up not being a good investment after all. I’m so happy I brought it to Jaime, I’d rather lose out on a $ 100 for a pre-​buy inspection than THOUSANDS of dollars on a lemon!

I’ve been taking my car to Jaime because he is honest, reasonable and super nice guy. I recently ran over a big piece of metal object on 680 which made a serious noise but since my car has been running normally, I didn’t take it to him until yesterday. Jaime showed me that my car lost the plastic cover part that protects the engine, in fact, entire thing was gone. He already sourced the replacement parts for me for very good price. Thanks Jaime!

We were looking to purchase a car from a local dealer and brought it to Jaime for a Pre Buy Inspection. He was the nicest, most honest guy you could hope for. What we thought was a smart buy turned out to be a possible nightmare. Thanks to Jaime and his diagnostic testing we were able to see this car was not a good deal at all! We wish we had such a smart, reliable and honest mechanic closer to us in the North Bay! Thank you so much for your help!

Haven’t actually had my car serviced here, but I absolutely intend to the next time I have anything serviced. I spoke with Jaime on the phone and set up an appointment to get an oil leak in my car checked out for an estimate. He was on the road at the time, so he called me back a couple hours later to get my information. After I told him my model year and mileage, he told me my car was still under warranty and that I should check with the dealership before I sank money into the repairs.
I got the repairs covered by the manufacturer. That was easily a $ 700+ in repairs that Jaime passed up because I was better off looking into the warranty first. That speaks volumes to me.

First time here. Read reviews and had to bring my car to this shop. So far Andrew is very nice and attentive. Customer service rate is definitely 5 stars. The work done is great. He made sure everything was done properly. I would definitely recommend this location for an oil change. I will come again.

Jamie is the best. He doesn’t try to sell you other services you probably don’t need, which I appreciate. He actually told me that my car is in excellent condition, which I have never heard from any other mechanic. He’s a pretty honest guy, and for that, I will be returning.

Jaime is awesome. He’s my go-​to mechanic. Probably the most honest and most knowledgeable mechanic in Hayward. I rarely write reviews, but because I’ve already been to Jaime twice and both times he was so good to me, I couldn’t not write one for him. Mechanics R us is a tiny garage hidden behind this big parking lot off Mission, another reason why I’m writing him a review… because he needs the business so that he can open up at a bigger place! He totally deserves it! I remember the first time I had a car problem, I Unilocaled mechanics and the one that had the best review was Jim’s Automotive. So of course, I went to him first only to find out that he had no idea how to fix my car which seemed to be a simple fix. Jim seemed old fashion and a bit outdated. Nonetheless, he was extremely honest which I can appreciate. However, JOB wasn’t done so I went to Jaime. I was pretty hesitant at first, but boy was I happy to discover him. Jaime was so honest from the beginning and gave me a cheapest price out of everyone I had called for a quote. When I brought my car, he immediately knew what I needed for it to be fixed. He showed me the part that I needed and even showed me the price, so I knew what I was paying for. I’m a student originally from Los Angeles so knowing a honest mechanic up here saves me so much money and trouble. I also have a brother that is a mechanic in LA so I know a trustworthy and good mechanic when I see one. Second time I went, I was in dire need for an oil change. I’ve been over due for a while and Jaime took me in even though his garage was packed with cars. He was nice enough to go the extra mile and asked one of the other car shops for him to borrow their garage to do my oil change. JAIME REALLY IS THE BEST. I even told him to tell his customers to write a review for him and guess what his response was… no because if I did, it wouldn’t be fair right? What a good humble man.

This is my first time ever writing a review, i usually just go on and read other peoples reviews, but i had to write about this place. The mechanic Jaime is the car whisperer. Like the others said, he litterally opened up my car, smelled the oil and diagnosed it on the spot. He is great and very professional. Being a social worker we are not bringing in the big bucks and Jaime worked with me on what I am able to pay. He was honest and I did not feel like my money was being blown away to a bunch of uneeded repairs. I pretty much told him I need this car to last me another year and he worked on the repairs that focused on that. He also gave me tips on how/​where to buy a new car. This guy knows his work and is highly professional. As a female, I’m usually sceptical about mechanics, but I felt completly comfortable with him. His wife was also very sweet. I’m currently telling all my friends to take their car to him. You will not be disappointed!

I found this place by searching Unilocal and reading the reviews. I went to their website and emailed for a quote, which I received within 24 hrs. After showing the quote to the guys in the family, they gave me a thumbs up to give him a try. When I called to book the appointment, Jaime remembered my quote, even my name! We made a Saturday appointment for a tuneup and oil change for my car. Finding the place was a bit tricky, and the gated area where the shop is located is packed with cars. However, there was a space cleared for my car in front of his bay door. Jaime was polite and again called me by name (before I identified myself). He asked if I needed a ride and asked his wife to give me a ride home! I can’t recall her name but she is super sweet. My first experience with Jaime and his shop was very positive, the price was right, and I do plan to use his services again.
Give him a try, I did, and I wasn’t disappointed!

I have known and worked with Jaime Penuela for over 20 years, when he had a shop in Pittsburg and in Pleasant Hill, California. He is absolutely straight arrow, a good mechanic and very reasonable from a cost standpoint. After he closed his shop in Pleasant Hill, I had been searching for him and just discovered today that he opened a new shop in Hayward. I look forward to doing business with him again!

Jaime has worked on –and revived– my 1989 Jeep Cherokee, the 4,0 liter/​straight-​6 Laredo model. He takes the time to diagnose the trouble and then –E-​X-​P-​L-​A-​I-​N-​S the situation, along with a VERY reasonable estimate as to the time and money to fix it. He’s thorough and HONEST. I can’t recommend Jaime highly enough. He is a warm, talented mechanic.

I gotta agree with others here. Jaime is a goo mechanic. I brought my truck in with some noises that I couldn’t figure out. I didn’t even turn off the engine yet. Hr opened the hood, identified the problem within 20 seconds, and then took another 20 seconds to determine what ha caused the problem. In the next 30 seconds, he was asking me where I bought the part that was causing the noise. (don’t tell anybody, but) he went back to the parts store, got the part… For free)
He was able to save me the money on the part, so that I could also afford to fix the source of my problem.
Additionally, he very quickly helped me out with fluid services, going out of his way to keep me in my budget.
Buy beyond the «good mechanic» review, (we all know a good mechanic) hr is also a good person. He might give you a little life inspiration, while you are there.
There are good mechanics, and then there are wise human beings who are mechanics.
If you need something worked on, check this guy out. He is the real deal.

I am picky when it comes to a mechanic. It’s so hard to find a good and honest mechanic but finally the day has arrived. Jamie the owner of Mechanics R Us is one of master mechanics of our day. Jamie is honest down to earth and very good at what he does not to mention very inexpensive. I brought my Mercedes Roadster to his shop to fix a bunch of little problems I had with it. The top wouldnt go down, the emergency brake didn’t work, and I need a tune up. Most people know how expensive a tune up can be on these cars, in the 2k range. Jamie did all the work for less than $ 600 which included all the parts!!! Oh by the way I forgot to mention he even dropped the car off at my house after he was done.

More than one wise person has said there’s no such thing as an honest mechanic. Well, those wise people should take their cars to Mechanics R Us. Jaime, the owner, takes his business seriously. He really listens to your description of the problem, and does his research to make sure he’s taking care of it and not just using a «band-​aid» for a momentary fix. More importantly, he tells the truth, and doesn’t rob you. When I took the Ford Focus in for being haunted (lights turning on and off while driving, followed by a general refusal to start every once in a while), he tried a variety of things to fix it, and he didn’t charge me for the things that didn’t work. And when I went to get warranty work done from the Ford Dealership and they scammed me, Jaime called and spoke to the manager of the service department, and had them redo their work at no charge. Now THAT is an honest mechanic.
