I bought my mattress a year ago and have sent several people here. I spent $ 900 on a mattress retailing at over 3x that at the retailers I found with the same product. It was a floor sample but clearly well protected and a ridiculously good price. Reading any of the negative reviews here about the customer service blows my mind. Yeah, they are brief, to the point and will answer your questions if you ask them. No, they don’t want to take 40% off and you were probably being confrontational if they didn’t want to negotiate. If there’s no room, there’s no room. Buy it or don’t. You think a SALES person doesn’t want to make a SALE? It’s literally why they are there. You don’t haggle at the grocery store or your barber shop do you? Do you need someone to hold your hand while picking out your new dinnerware at Target? You think they profiled you because of how you were dressed? Get over yourself. If you smell sh*t all day check the bottom of your own shoe. You’re not buying a Rolls Royce, you’re a damned adult spending a few hundred dollars on a product that only you can select based on your own preferences. Know your own needs. There are some great sites out there for babysitters if you need to bring one with you. I wanted a nice mattress at a good price with an on time delivery. I would have gladly paid full price based on how well it was priced, but a fair deal including delivery was the cherry on top. If you want to complain about your poor little back being oh so sore, maybe you should have coughed up more than 300 bucks for something you’re going to spend 30% of your life on. Or, if you want to sleep on a heavenly cloud of joy and comfort, go to this place, bring a thousand dollars and get a mattress so nice that you’ll feel like The Princess and Pea should you ever be so cursed as to sleep on another bed. A good mattress can last 10 years. That breaks down monthly to what you pay for Netflix and no girls want to chill on your terrible mattress.
PS If you get delivery, tip them. The owner and another guy dropped off my mattress. Sure you don’t need to tip a business owner but his buddy there sure would like it.

Keith had no pressure sales and was super nice and helpful. I came in with my newborn and dropped her pacifier and he volunteered to go rinse it off! We even had a conversation about how mattresses used to be constructed versus now and I appreciated his honesty. We ended up very happy with the low price of a high end mattress and he is delivering all the way to Santa Cruz for a nominal fee. I would recommend this next time you’re in the market for a mattress.

Yes, Keith is nice but he really doesn’t listen. I am older and needed a light top mattress so when I put on a fitted sheet my back doesn’t go out. I have been delayed in writing this review but as I sit her with my back out once again, my anger and disappointed returns.
The box spiring belonged to a different set which is why the prices are lower. Not sure how that effects the quality of his products. does he sell seconds?
Not referring him to others and remain in pain after just trying to make my bed. Pay attention if you decide to go there.
GOOD TOP MATTRESSES TO NOT HAVE TO BE SO DARN BIG AND HEAVY.

These folks were amazing! They listened carefully to the situation we were facing — my elderly mother-​in-​law who has dementia and was moving to a memory care unit, and who is very short. They helped us find the type of mattress that would work best, and to find a frame low enough that it would be easy for my mother-​in-​law to get into and out of bed easily. And they gave us a great deal. They were kind, caring, thoughtful, and informative. Also, it was all very low-​key with absolutely no pressure tactics. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Awesome experience with Keith and his team. He went way out of his way to accommodate a particular circumstance that came up, and we couldn’t be happier with our new top-​of-​the-​line mattress that we got for a fraction of the cost of what we would’ve spent elsewhere.
As echoed in other reviews, take your time to make sure you select the right mattress. Since it’s a no-​hurry, no-​hassle environment, you have plenty of time to make the right decision for you & yours. Researching buying a mattress (& box spring) in the Bay Area definitely paid off, and I am very, very happy we found New National Mattress Discount Center. It is so refreshing to deal with sincere, kind professionals such as Keith — but I’m afraid that we got such a good mattress, we won’t be paying him another visit anytime too soon.

Ultimately I was actually pretty unimpressed with the customer service here. The guy I worked with was short with me, and deliberately ignored me because I didn’t dress the part of some kind of wealthy businessman. He treated any question about the price or any skepticism about the product with frustration and flamboyant objection. At the end of the day it’s not a scam, and they do have good prices. I spent my time in the store just googling on my phone while I tried out mattresses, and after about an hour or so of that I made up my own mind.
Delivery was great. On time, professionally done and brought up a tough winding staircase in my house with expert care. Inventory is ample, but hit or miss. If you’re looking for something specific they’ll probably only have a few options.

I went in and one of the associates became extremely rude after asking for an adjustment on a price. All customers obviously want to work out on what you are selling. unfortunately for you, your prices drop due to competitors, but that is bound to happen no matter what. however, if customers wish to work out something then you should be open to it and not just completely ignore the offer by starting to whistle and wander away like we didn’t say anything. head to a different discount place. he completely disregarded us. we also realized that the mattress we were looking at was not the correct model that he described it to be. at first everything sounds like a great deal but once you really start to question the prices, head boards are 150 plus also tack on another 60 dollars for bed frame because the price you see is only the head board. the mattress cost is okay, but you get screwed over for all the additional stuff.

We were looking to replace our much overdue Cal King mattress. Based on so many positive reviews we decided to pay National Mattress a visit. Let me tell you we were not disappointed! We were warmly welcomed by Willie and Keith. The hands off approach yet attentive service to our questions was extremely appealing. We tried various mattresses and settled on a Serta Icomfort series model which had just come in a few days ago. After a quick search of the same mattress on various sites it was actually $ 500 less compared to Amazon (which was the next cheapest price). Did I mention our deal included box springs? You can tell National Mattress is confident in their prices when they have flyers of their competitors prices in their store. How do they sell mattresses so cheap? They are typically over stocks, last year models, etc… but who cares? If you want the best price save your time and pay National Mattress a visit!

Definitely a 5-​star store! Very kind gentleman helped me today get a brand new full size mattress after a different store wasted my time and gas on false advertising. This store is stocked to the roof with brand new mattresses at better prices than you’ll find anywhere else. He even loaded it in my truck for me. Very fast service. Kind. Helpful. Honest. Shop here!!!

We searched and searched for a reasonable mattress, then we found this place, Keith was awesome, I would highly recommend if you want a deal this is it

Seriously the only place to shop if you need a new mattress and here is why!
1. They are NO Pressure Sales! Yes you read that right, they are not going to harass you or bug you at all!
2. They know their products and can help steer you to the right bed, rather quickly I might add.
3. ROCK BOTTOM PRICES!!! Half if not a third LESS than other mattress stores.
4. GREAT Customer Service and very accommodating. (You ROCK Keith!)
5. SAME DAY DELIVERY or to your schedule.
6. $ 12 fee to remove your old mattress… do you want to deal with it? No, I do not think so.
Only thing to note is there is no return policy, so lay on the bed for a while and make sure you know. Yet once you do. you will not be sorry.
Oh! Their store mascot Sophie, a yellow lab is the sweetest dog EVER! I am a very happy customer.

I have bought quite a few mattresses from this store over the last few years! The service is great, delivery as quick as you want it, and the prices cannot be beat! I’m planning on doing a bunk room, and I will certainly get those mattresses there as well!

The guys at this establishment know how to deliver top quality at rock bottom prices.
The same quality mattress will easily be TRIPLE the price at other nearby chain stores like sleep train or mattress discounters.
From what I gather, they sell brand-​name «overstocks» from the previous year at insane discounts, which is perfectly fine considering mattresses are not computers.
I bought the best on their floor, a massive, resort quality mattress & box spring for 1k out the door (compared to 3k+tax at the nearest competitor). I’m nearly 6 feet tall and had to get a bed frame with a «step» to climb into this mattress. I sleep like a baby.
When It wears out I’m definitely coming back to see what’s new.

Bought two mattresses about ten years ago when they were located closer to San Leandro. Ten years later, they still have the same amazing deals. Why people spend a lot more money for the same level of mattress makes no sense.

Great customer service! Low pressure sales environment! We were able to test out the various mattresses in our own without any creepy hovering and when we were ready they helped us by answering all our questions and helped us really make the right decision.

My husband and I were looking for a supportive, long lasting and expensive *feeling mattress. This was our first stop and I am so glad we went here. 3 months later our mattress is still absolutely perfect and thankfully we got it for the right price.
Keith greeted and made us feel welcome upon arrival. He held that fine line between being kind, knowledgeable and helpful while simultaneously giving us our distance to explore the options on our own. I think we laid down on each mattress in the size we wanted 2 or 3 times.
They delivered it for a nominal fee and were punctual.
I recommend them fully! Check it out, the quality and prices cannot be beat.
One last word, yes you could probably haggle a ton, but these prices are seriously beyond fair so tip well and play nice ;)

I can’t decide whether I want to give this place 4.5 stars or 5 stars. Can I just give it 4.75?! Haha.
After living in the dorms for 3 years, it was time to move out. The mattresses in the dorms were alright I guess but after my last year living there, I was done. I started to get bed bug bites which ended coming home with me to San Francisco after I moved out. I didn’t know I had brought it back with me until while I was in New Orleans, my cousin who stayed at my place, reported getting bed bug bites then tells me he found eggs in my pillow… so gross!!! Never again will I live at the dorms! Though I wouldn’t say I had regret living there, because it was an interesting college experience.
Now that I’m living in my own room at a house, it was time to go furniture/​mattress hunting! Yayyy! How exciting?! For a jobless, broke college student, it’s a challenge to find inexpensive furniture for a good quality. I grew up being told «you get what you pay for.» I’ve began living by the quote every so often. When it came to mattresses, I knew what I was in for. so I had to find an inexpensive but good quality one! I searched Unilocal and after reading some of the reviews on this place, I thought I would give it a try. The day I decided to come, one of my coworkers actually recommended this place to me. I thought, «wow, must be cheap!» As I drove on Foothill, I thought I would never find this place. turns out, it’s like RIGHT at the entrance of the I-​550 & I-​880 freeway! Pretty hidden if you ask me! I had to make a quick turn into the parking lot because I didn’t know where to go.
Any who, entering the store, I was greeted by a woman. Keith was sitting at his desk doing some paperwork. I didn’t know what to expect/​buy when entering. I just knew I wanted a mattress. I told the woman that I don’t know what I’m looking for and that it was my first time buying it. She said, «Alright, well. do you like them firm or soft?» I responded back that I’m on a budget (broke college student), looking for a soft and full size mattress. She recommended two memory-​foam (with no coils) mattresses for me to try. Omg, I fell in love! They were inexpensive mattresses, as they were $ 400-​$ 500. When I laid down on the mattresses, I didn’t want to take up much of their time (y’know.those pushy sales rep).but at the Mattress Discount Center, it wasn’t like that! They told me to take my time as I will be the one sleeping on it every night (my thoughts exactly!). I kept switching back and forth, and told them that I might return after checking out another store.
The other store was a bit over my budget, so I came back. This time it was just Keith and he remembered me from two days ago. I came in switching back and forth on the mattresses again, then lying around calling my parents (as they were the ones partially paying for it too; also they have more experience). My parents weren’t picking up their phones for five minutes, so as I sat around, Keith was just doing work. No rush. Love that he wasn’t rushing me to kick me out or anything. But enough with the story, you get the point. Here at MDC, they let you take your time and try their best to find the perfect one for you. I ended up buying the $ 500 one. ($ 45 for delivery).
I couldn’t decide on the rest of the stars because of this.
I had delivery the next day as it was supposed to arrive at 4:00 PM. I came from SF and waited. 1.5 hrs (till about 5:30 PM). Why didn’t I deduct more stars, you may ask? The mattress is delivered on an open truck. Their last delivery was in San Mateo. It was also a rainy day that day. Even though I was a bit in a hurry, I understood their situation. Rainy day + San Mateo = traffic/​delays from 5 o’clock traffic. The delivery people was a father and son. They were super nice and even though the delivery was very late, I still gave them a tip. I asked them to remove their shoes when entering the home (Asian rules.) and turns out they didn’t need to because they actually had coverings for them! Which was cool :). The delivery was fast, efficient, and friendly.
Family owned business (even with the delivery people)! They told me they don’t advertise, so usually people either find them on Unilocal,word of mouth, or just passing by the store. I would definitely come back in the future to help the locals. They’re friendly people and the mattresses are inexpensive! Good quality too! I’ve had such a wonderful sleep on my new memory foam bed, hehe. Just don’t forget that these are from companies over-​producing, mismatches, etc.

I’ve bought 3 beds here over the last 18 years and cannot say enough nice things about them. It’s hands down one of the best shopping experiences I’ve ever had for anything.
The last time we bought the bed, drove back to SF and the delivery man was waiting for us when we arrived home! You cannot beat that service.

Papa bear told the salesman what he wanted in a mattress.
the salesman pointed out the beds to try and stepped out of the way, saying nothing. all the beds were too soft.
salesman pointed out 2 more beds. papa tried them. beds firmer but not «just right».
seems the salesman has experiences with bears, thus inaction.
pricing was right. $ 150-​$ 299 just for the mattress.
rating 3.5 stars. lots of mattresses in storeroom, 4 stars for someone.
supposed mama bear came in, salesman would be all over her…
