«Our approach to cheese is a simple one and it’s the same approach used when it comes to selecting wine for our store. We taste before we select and try to get to know the producer and importer. We also chose from the beginning, to cut all of our cheeses «fresh to order.» This means that we personally and professionally cut and wrap the cheese fresh from the wheel, which gives you a longer shelf life at home and allows you to purchase the exact amount that you desire. And of course we offer free samples of our cheeses so that you may see for yourself, the character of each cheese. Valley Cheese and Wine is the premier specialty wine and food store in the Las Vegas valley. Founded in July 2006 by Bob Howald and Kristin Sande, Valley Cheese and Wine features flavorful, artisanal products that are produced in small quantities. Every item we carry is hand-​selected with taste in mind, representing the world’s finest. At Valley Cheese and Wine you will find hard-​to-​find wines, artisan cheese, charcuterie, specialty dry goods and wine accessories.

Valley Cheese and Wine is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Bob Howald and Kristin Sande.

They have each spent more than 17 years in the food industry working for some of the finest retailers and importers in the country including The Wine Merchant Ltd. in St. Louis, MO, Great Ciao Inc. in Minneapolis, MN, Whole Foods Market and Neal’s Yard Dairy in the UK.

They bring their combined experience as well as their passion for great cheese and wine to the Las Vegas valley and are happy to share what they know with you!

What a great little wine and cheese shop. I’ve noticed this shop many times as I was driving by and I wish it hadn’t taken me so long to stop in.
My first impression was that the shop is larger inside than it appears from the street. Near the entrance there is a cooled case with cheeses and cheese plate accompaniments. The middle of the store is full of wine display racks. Wines are organized by country or region. On the walls there are shelves with all kinds of food goods. There were pastas, jams, sauces, crackers, and sweet treats. Back up near the register are some wine essentials like glasses, openers, and wine glass markers. They also have a refrigerated area of wines and champagnes. Near the refrigerated area are a few pre-​made gift baskets. It’d be safe to say this would be a good spot to pick up a gift or to grab many of your party essentials.
The owners instantly greeted us and gave us the overview of the shop layout. Another customer in the shop was purchasing cheese for a party and it seemed like the owner had good suggestions for her. He wasn’t pushy, but helpful. As expected some of the dry goods are pricey, but I expect this at a specialty store. It makes sense considering there aren’t many places to purchase some of the items they carry.
We were also told that the shop offers classes. In looking at the schedule the classes sounded fun and were reasonably priced. Classes range from focusing on certain wine producing regions to learning the basics of choosing a wine. It seems like they offer classes for those that want to know about wine and wine aficionados alike.

I have been coming to here since shortly after they opened and without exception have been happy with the products and service. Usually, I go in, Bob will ask me what I am cooking today (he has gotten to know I usually cook or grill/​smoke on the weekends), I tell him, ask for a red or white and he delivers. The cheese here is real, not processed cheese, so you pay a little more, but the quality is sooo much better. Never a bad experience here.

First timer, the family dog greeted me as I entered the shop.
Got some cave aged cheese, crackers, fig ham and a great bottle of Frank Family Zinfandel.
By the way a tout for this whine for the Holidays.
A little more pricey than other Zin’s but well worth it.
Very nice owners and knowledgeable service, the cheese is Gruyère and it is awesome.

This is a terrific place, but since I live way in the wilds of the far NW of Vegas, I can’t get here as often as I’d like. Which is probably a good thing considering that EVERY SINGLE TIME I stop there, my budget takes a serious hit. Cheeses and wines that you cannot find anywhere else somehow end up going home with me.
The specialty cheeses and meats are a little on the pricey side (but what you’d expect, certainly not ridiculous), and the wines are very well priced. So it’s hard to know where to put them as far as prices are concerned. I would say overall very reasonable, especially when you’re contemplating, say, that rare cheese made by monks in the Alps of Switzerland who only allow it to be shipped once a decade. Yeah. That may be a *slight* exaggeration, but that gives you an idea of the quality of cheeses that they offer.

Do you need special cheese? The type that is not sold at Vons or WinCo? This is your place! I needed Italian cheese to make my 4 cheese gnoochi. They had what I needed.
I almost got distracted by all the wine, but I was there for cheese so no wine!
The couple running the place did tell me about their wine tasting classes. Sounded awesome. When not in the holiday rush, I would like to take one.

Cute shop with a good selection of wines, meats, cheeses, and specialty gourmet items. Prices are ok, about what you’d expect for a specialty shop like this.
Service was very friendly and knowledgeable, she gave us some detailed descriptions of the cheeses, and we didn’t even ask about wines.
I only WISH you could eat and drink there. We would seriously frequent a good wine/​cheese shop near our house. Please Valley! Expand that patio!

My friends and I were looking for a place to do a wine tasting, and Valley Wine & Cheese advertises «Wine tastings every week!» on their website. We arrived and were told that they no longer do tastings. We were disappointed, but browsed a little. They do have a good variety of wines, and I liked the look of their cheeses. I asked if they had a specific wine from northern California, and they did not. That’s obviously fine, but I was surprised that they did not offer to order it. When I’ve made this inquiry elsewhere in Henderson, they have offered to order the wine for me.

I wish this place was not as out of the way for us as it is. Or maybe, it is a good thing as I would be tempted to check out this cheese and wine shop far too often.
We were super excited to notice a sweet lab-​mix dog sleeping on a big pillow behind the register. We then chatted with the owner about dogs for a minute while petting that sweet shop dog. Touches like that make this a role model for other small businesses.
The owner also made some recommendations without being pushy or hovering. She let us explore but was accessible for questions. It is a very fine line and it seems that this place does it very well. She made an excellent recommendation for a semi-​soft Italian cheese that we really enjoyed later that evening. We knew we were going to enjoy it because she also let us sample it before we purchased it.
Nicely organized and super clean. There is a lot of care put into this place and it shows.

Have been here recently for wine tasting classes. I don’t know a lot about wine but I’m sure learning. I’ve been to the Spain and Big Reds of California classes. They serve prosciutto, and who doesn’t love that?, and other assorted meats. The cheeses are to die for. Marketing at its best… We’ve bought some fantastic cheese and wine there. Being the ameuturs that we are we learned about temperature, storage, it’s okay to mix red meat and visa versa, and yes, aerating the wine really does make a difference. Looking forward to our next class.

Such a fun experience! A group of us from work did the wine and cheese pairing class as a team event and so much fun. The couple that runs the store super sweet. The cheese was amazing, the pistachio and mustard seed were my favorite. The Mothers Milk Shiraz was my favorite wine. All very delicious and tasty! As we had our class Bob answered all of our questions great and we learned a ton. The presentation was good. I like that afterwards they gave us plenty of time to just enjoy the leftovers and continue chatting, laughing and overall just have a good time with no pressure to leave.
A few of us left with our favorite cheese. A few groups from work have done this and so glad we did. Their recommendation was a good one! We had a blast! Cheese and Wine may become a regular meal for me.

This is a great store for specialty foods. I always get some meats and cheeses. They have amazing crackers, pickles etc.
There is a wide variety of meats, iberico, duck, assorted salami most you cannot get anywhere else.
The wines are varied and range in price. There are also some specialty beers.
I discovered this store only 2 years ago and I wish I found it sooner.

Went looking for a good recommendation on blue cheese… walked out with a great, smooth, creamy, not too sharp blue from Italy. Was also seeking some feta. Although they don’t carry any, the gentleman that helped me was able to point me in the right direction.

Cute shop with a small selection of cheeses. I guess when I’m used to going to Whole Foods where they have a lot more inventory. The owners were open to helping us find a wine but I didn’t want to engage that day. We bought two ¼ lbs slices of cheese and spent about $ 20. I had a little sticker shock but I guess we picked the good stuff ;)
They invited us to come back for a wine tasting. I might go someday. It’s great if this shop is in your neck of the woods. Otherwise it’s a pretty standard wine shop that carries some cheese, meats, oils and sauces.

One of the best places in the Valley, forget Henderson! We are big fans of Valley Cheese and Wine, and have been shopping here for years. You will get nothing but the best service. They are very knowledgeable of their entire inventory, and are always ready to give you a sample of cheese or a meat you are interested in. What I really like is the selection, it’s not the typical charcuterie or wines that you get in other stores in the Valley. Everything has a place, there is no filler. It’s all quality, from the most expensive iberico ham to the various types of crackers. Not only is the selection and service great, it’s simply a fun place to be. Just walking around and looking at all of the products is great. I highly recommend you hit up Valley Cheese and Wine, and grab some truffle salt while you are there. You’ll thank me the next time you cook steaks…

My first time at Valley Cheese & Wine and I loved it!!!
My friends are frequent customers and they attend the wine classes held every Thursday night so I decided to attend one myself. The owner taught the class giving us samples of a large selection of white wines from around the world while also providing 3 different cheeses, and a selection of meats and breads.
If you take the class you get 20% off of your purchases… score! I went a little crazy and bought a few different cheeses, a bottle of wine and some yummy candy.
I love love love goat cheese and the selection they have is to die for! I basically went into cheese coma after I left.
Prices are very reasonable and I cant wait to go back!

Every visit to Valley Cheese & Wine is an educational one. And I always get to try a new cheese or pâté!
The owners are always helpful, guiding us to what we are looking for or something new.
I recently attended one of the Thursday classes (California Wines) and before I left I ended up registering for the next one.
The class is held in their back room. They serve a selection of meats, cheeses and bread to accompany the wines. There were only 4 others in the class besides me & BF — all of us at different levels of wine knowledge.
The owner was excellent at keeping up with our totally random & off topic conversations & questions.
I look forward to the next class and many more trips to Valley Cheese & Wine.

Last year, April 8 2010, I attended a class «A trip through France». It was wonderful!
It was a fascninating way to share the different regions of France, why the weather (hotter, wetter, moister, etc) has its effect on what wines grow in certain regions versus others, and paired each that we tasted with a complimenting cheese or meat (prosciuttio, etc). Soooo tasty!
It was lovely, and I ended up buying a couple of bottles of some of the wine I tried. Super nice people who taught the class, and met some nice folks… along with a great evening out with my sister and good friend!

I know little about cheese and though I might consider myself somewhat knowledgeable on the more harder drink. I am basically an idiot when it comes to wine.
Was In the mood for a ice cold Coca Cola, one blew up in my lap before I arrived at the VC&W. I tried to clean myself up but to no avail, I came off like a sloppy vagrant.
Sticky and stained clothes aside I still pressed ahead to obtain some element of wine and cheese knowledge as I walked through the store.
Price is what it is… If I wanted to be frugal, I might have continued down the road to TJ’s.
Roamed around and a sufficient bottle Pinot Grigio was selected as confirmed with a gentlemen that worked them.
Put my name on a mailing list for tastings. Perhaps this will assist in refining the whiskey, beer and veelveta edge i have carried around with me most of my life. I hope so.
