In business since June of 1974 — Great wine list, traditional Italian menu, cozy intimate atmosphere, family style oriented with many regular customers from all over the country, steps from the beach for casual walks during the day or romantic walks at night. In the restaurant business since 1960: La Rue Restaurant on the Sunset Strip; Italy at Dad’s restaurant on Lago Maggiore; SCAM then changed to The 9000 Restaurant on Sunset; Chasens; Perino’s; SandCastle Restaurant in Malibu; Restaurant Management Teacher Temple City High School; L.A. Trade Tech graduate and later Restaurant Management Advisory Board; CRA Scholarship Committee; at the Bottle Inn in 1974 to help open the restaurant and been at the Bottle Inn since 1977 as General Manager and eventually Co-​Owner with our Head Waiter and Chef of 22 years. Well versed in preparation and service of authentic Italian Cuisine with knowledge and experience of French, Spanish, South and North African, Mexican, Cajun, and Asian Cuisines. Love to be creative and on the cutting edge. Embraces the restaurant business and its daily challenges. Focused on great food, great wines and personalized service.

We held our rehearsal dinner there last friday. The manager had promised us the private room but when we got there he tried to put another party in there with us. Since we planned this wedding from afar the number of guests varied a couple of times between 14 and 20, due to some people not getting into town in time. We ended up with 18 people in the end. The manager was obviously annoyed and did not seem to understand that this was beyond my control. He had originally qouted us lower prices for a party that big but then he said that our group was too small and went ahead and charged full menu prices. We brought two special bottles of wine with us. He told us that he would not charge a corkage fee if we bought wine from him as well. We spent about $ 100 on his wine and he charged us a $ 20 corkage fee for each bottle that we brought. Several of our guests were children. I was concerned that there was no kids menu and I expressed this to him. He assured me that he would provide cheaper, smaller meals for the kids. My 9 year old daughter’s fettuccine alfredo with chicken cost $ 24.95! All of the kids were given adult sized meals at regular menu prices. Overall very displeased. It was a very stressful event. Definitely not what we wanted on the eve of our wedding.

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Went there last Saturday for our anniversary. Had been there many years ago and was looking forward to the dinner. First, we had made reservations and they could not find them. They weren’t busy, so seated us. BUT after we ordered, it was an hour wait for our food, because «the kitchen was slammed». It was a Saturday night and not all the tables were full, so come on! The food was OK, but not special, many Italian Restaurants in South Bay are superior. And the very worst was the service! Server checked twice during the extremely long wait. Asked for a dessert menu at the end and after a 20 minute wait without seeing our server, flagged someone down for our bill. Will NEVER return. With many really good Italian places in the South Bay, don’t waste your time!

Rancho Mirage, CA
We drove from Rancho Mirage to bring some guests from Chicago that were visiting us and it was great as usual. We started with Jayson Wine exceptional. Calamari app which had a nice crispy not greasy breading and very tender rings with there great pomodoro sauce. Salads INSALATA DELLA CASA and VENETIAN SALAD both excellent we split as suggested by our server. Entrees FETTUCCINE BOLOGNESE, SALTIMBOCCA ALLA, ROMANA CONCHIGLIONI And the Fish Of the day which was Charbroiled Mahi Mahi all excellent! Wish this place was closer to us.

Love love love this place! Call & reserve a table in the wine cellar. Kinda cold so bring a jacket! Great food, great service, even better crème brûlée!!! Oh & more importantly, wine :-)

This restaurant has always been a family favorite. But something must have changed since our last visit. It still has the quaint South Bay charm. But the quality and quantity of food is not as fabulous as it once was. I ordered the shrimp scampi which was just OK. But the angel hair pasta that came with it was the size of a small side dish. There was more spinach then pasta.

New restaurants, trendy or otherwise, enter the «best of» lists all the time, but give some love to an enduring favorite, The Bottle Inn. Warmly lit, friendly wait staff, and no pretensions. It is the definition of a neighborhood gem. It is hard to resist ordering the linguine bolognese every time a large portion featuring a thick sauce filled with meat and vegetables. But the ravioli offerings, seafood pastas generously laden with fruit del mar, and the pollo carciofo (meat, garlic, spices, olives, mushrooms, and artichoke steamed over flaming brandy tableside) compel a more dining variety.
Many a local celebrity (typically pro athletes) will make a quiet night at the Bottle Inn with no interruptions. It’s that kind of place. Not trying to create a buzz but you leave with an impression that these folks care about hosting and feeding you well.

We we had finished with some business in Hermosa Beach when the Mrs. suggested we come here for lunch. Being an Italian food aficionado said h*** yes, it’s about time since they opened in 1974 and I’ve lived close by since 1970!
We arrived just after opening and were promptly seated by our Waiter Rodolfo (who has worked here for 36 years) who then brought us menus along with warm sliced Italian bread with evoo and balsamic vinegar. Yum.
My lady, ordered the THREE CHEESE RAVIOLI BARESE,
Filled with ricotta, mascarpone and parmesan cheeses, cooked in olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, artichokes and spinach and she went through it like a mouse through cheese!
And I opted for the SOUP AND PANINO COMBO
A cup of any soup with half of any panino of which chose ZUPPA DI FUNGHI
Mushrooms, cream, herbs, and Madeira wine and a
FILET MIGNON PANINO
Tender thin slices of filet mignon sautéed with mushrooms, onions and red wine demiglasse topped with melted mozzarella on Italian bread. Wonderful! plus I got two meals out of it.
We for sure will come back soon to push up that extra star!

Its clear the owner was present, he took care of his regulars as a good owner would. Everything else was a train wreck, food salty, overpriced and if your not a regular forget about going there because your ignored easily, had to get up and get my own water from service area, nobody said boo.

This is such a lovely little place — and it is little, but cozy. Staff is really nice. My boyfriend took me here as a surprise for my birthday; a romantic dinner with wine.
I got the Papperdelle Genevosa and he got some pasta with clams. It was so delicious, we pretty much devoured our food. This waitress noticed it was my birthday when she checked our IDs and so at the end of dinner, she brought out a big glass of chocolate mousse with a candle. I would love to come here again. The only thing is that the price is pretty up there… but the experience is great nonetheless.

Eh. A cute, quaint little space that’s probably the best date spot around, but the food really doesn’t live up to the price tag. It’s fine, not bad by any means, but quality-​wise is more along the lines of $ 15 entrees as opposed to $ 25 ones. Same goes for the service. For the price I’d expect nearly black tie service and not the somewhat apathetic Chart House experience you get here.
The bread is fantastic though.

Adventures with Lili presents: Lost after landing on LB Airport
After arriving I realized that my cellphone battery was dead, taking into consideration my remarkable sense of direction and driving skills, we start going home.
(who am I kidding? LOL)
Well not, we didn’t. We started driving in the wrong direction, traffic was near impossible (Friday around 5pm) so we decided to get off the highway and explore the area. After driving for a while we ended up here at Bottle Inn.
Bottle Inn is an Italian neighborhood restaurant, really close to the beach (like a block away). The ambiance is old school Italian.
Their cellar is something else! I’d say they have wines for every taste
Since we were Vegas detoxing we just had water. I couldn’t take pictures because my dead battery was charging next to the register.
The bread is really delicious and the service spotless.
The food was delicious, we had a polenta lasagna and cheese cannellonis.
I wish all my adventures were as tasty and fun as this one :) After all getting lost is not so bad!
Reservations are strongly recommended, specially on the weekends.
I want to get lost over there again :) hopefully next time I’m not detoxing and driving so I can taste one of their delicious wines.

I’ve been past Bottle Inn many times and finally stopped in for a meal based on a friends recommendation. They have a cute little patio which would be a great place for a meal on a nice day. They have an extensive wine list and a great selection of entrees. Our server was friendly and attentive and made some great recommendations.
Someone had described the Bottle Inn to me as quirky which I think is accurate. If you are looking for some hip, trendy restaurant this is not it. But if you are looking for a place with some character and some good food you will enjoy bottle inn. When you first walk in there is a wall of photos of celebrities that have dined there, my friends got distracted by all the cool pics.
Bear in mind the meters in this area do not accept credit cards so you will need to have some change on hand! Luckily the restaurant was able to make change for us so we could feed the meter.

Returned to celebrate my son’s birthday (his restaurant pick!). My younger son likes this place because he can get any pasta dish Gluten Free, and it is DELICIOUS!
We got there for a 6:15 reservation and they were slammed — and it was Monday!
We sat right down and everything was just as expected! The service was excellent. The food was amazing!
We celebrate 4 birthdays within a 4-​week period and one or two always picks Bottle Inn. Looking forward to the next visit!

Our friends brought us to this neighborhood Italian, and it was every good as they had said. I went with the recommendation of the Tortellini Alla Panna (hat-​shaped pasta stuffed with veal and chicken in a light cream and porcini mushroom sauce). Great pasta, wonderful bread, charming service, and I even got change for the ancient parking meters which for some reason have not been updated to accept credit cards… ugh, get with the program, people!
Note: the website seems to be offline. I pulled the description of my pasta dish from one of the menu websites… odd.

My wife and I ate at the The Bottle Inn with a friend of ours who is a regular diner there. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had two toddlers with us, and the staff were very helpful and patient with the chaos that kids can bring to a restaurant, even early on a weeknight evening.
There’s a lengthy menu and an extensive wine list, but I found that most of the dishes appeared to be very traditional, old-​fashioned fare. For example, my fillet mignon came served with flaming sherry.
Unfortunately, the shock came at the end when we received our bill. Not only is the Bottle Inn an expensive throwback, but after I provided my credit card, our server added drinks to the bill and presented me with a higher check after I had agreed to pay.

Risotto? The Chef that responded to the negative post delivered in spades.
Sea Bass? Can’t find the proper word to explain how insanely happy my husband was with the dish.
The ambiance, the service, the whole evening couldn’t have been more perfect!

First, i will say that the staff is great. They are very warm + friendly. Also, the mussels arrabiata and the garlic bread are yummy. But I have serious issues with 3 things, which has led me to give the Bottle Inn 2 stars
1) The prices! — Holy moly. This place is very very expensive for a neigborhood italian restaurant. In fact, their pasta dishes are the same or more money than those at Mozza. I would be ok with that if they were great BUT, and a huge but, most of them are not made with homeade pasta. I don’t understand how you can charge $ 25 for a pasta dish that does not use fresh, homemade pasta
2) The sauce — to add insult to injury, the tomato sauce used to accompany the before mentioned pasta tastes almost identical to Prego. To be fair, the arrabiata museels were cooked with a freshly made sauce, which was delicious, but the pasta side dish with the chicken parmigiana was definitely not homemade.
3) No side — not only are you expected to pay atleast twenty-​something for your dishes, but you do not get a side salad (or the option for one) with it. Again, if this was a high-​end italian restaurant and not a neighborhood spot as people elude it, i would get it. But this is not Giorgio Baldi or Mozza or Locanda Positano.
It’s so great that this spot has been around for so long but it seems to me that the prices are getting steeper but the quality isn’t getting better. It’s unfortunate as I’ll be sticking to heading to Salerno Beach for my neighborhood italian fare.

Old School Italian just steps off the strand. Best bet would be before dark on the patio where you can see the Ocean. I was seated inside, warm– old world charm.
Cesar salad large enough for three to share. Loved the croutons. Breads served table side are good. Pastas all delicious, and would order any one of them again. Portions large enough for left-​overs. House wine is $ 9 a glass. I would recommend making a reservation if possible.
