I’ve eaten here for both lunch and breakfast, food is great. Last time for breakfast there was a ton of singing and whistling coming from the kitchen to the point of being annoying.

This is not a good place for call ahead orders. They have a great menu, so I wanted to try them. I called in my order and they asked me when I would be there. I told them ten minutes. They said I could pick it up at the drive thru. When i arrived, there were several cars in the drive thru and the line was not moving. So I went inside, bedroom slippers and all, to pick up my order. It is really organized chaos in there, but they found my order quickly and rang it up. I was then informed it would be seven more minutes. I didn’t understand this, because I had called ahead. They said they don’t start the order until you come in and pay. SOWHYDID I BOTHERTOCALLAHEAD? It actually took ten minutes before my order was ready. It’s unfortunate, because the food was good, but I’m not standing around waiting on the food. There are too many other places to go where the order is ready when you get there.

I have to say when our friends brought us here and we pulled up I was a little concerned, it seems very unassuming. All my preconceived notions were totally blown out of the water. This was a perfect casual BBQ restaurant for dinner for our starving group! Our server was the sweetest ever and was great about keeping our cups filled and getting us everything we needed. Most of our group went with a platter and the meats were great! The chicken and the ribs fell off the bone and were juicy and flavorful! For sides I got onion rings and mac and cheese. The onion rings were crispy and did not fall apart at all. The mac and cheese was the perfect BBQ accompaniment cheesy but not too heavy and had some other flavors to kick it up a notch. I tried my husbands baked beans and they had some amazing flavor too. Surprisingly we all had room for dessert. The cobblers were out of this world and the cakes were decadent without being too heavy. I am so sad I do not live closer to make this a regular establishment but its probably better for my waist line. Whenever I am in the area I will be back!

Ok… so…there is something in their recipes?! They are so good it’s bad! The beef ribs are huge. all the portions are huge! Everything is seasoned great. It’s true southern cooking and is a guilty pleasure

Have never been here for dinner, but breakfast here is a must. Southern comfort for sure. Anything from fluffy white biscuits to yummy cheesy omelets; there is surely something for everyone. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed with country music playing. Service is usually good, but you can get that one person that’s not too pleasant occasionally.

Great breakfast and BBQ! I’ve gone to this location for years and the ladies who work here are just about as sweet as the tea! ;) It’s always a great experience!

Wonderful BBQ – & I don’t really even care for BBQ!!! The hush puppies and the honey BBQ sauce are outstanding. Friendly, fast paced, clean, efficient… TRYIT! BTW – It’s paper plate served & they put the bill down as soon as you’re served. We didn’t mind at all because we understand that it’s turn-&-burn and they don’t act like they are rushing you. If you are lucky enough to get Megan as a Server then you will surely get tip-top service.(Please make sure you tip accordingly – saw a family of 3 leave $ 2. Really!?!) We didn’t find the décor offensive at all. It never hurts to have a little ‘God Bless You’ no matter who you are. Will stop again next time we pass through High Point.

Great, great food! It’s a family favorite! My brother in California has me bring it to him every time I visit him. The drive thru is PAINFULLY slow though. Just go inside!

well, I was a little scared when I entered the place. It needs really a fresh up. The barbecue ribs and chicken are awesome! Also positive surprise when getting the check — its really good food for the money if you do not care being served on styrofoam or paper plades :-)

One of the best places in the area to get a delicious tenderloin and cheese biscuit.

We were greeted with true Southern hospitality by Marie Carter herself(owner) who graciously brought us Yankees samples of their fine barbeque. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch — our BBQ craving fully satisfied!

The food was good if you dont mind waiting thirty minutes for breakfast. They had a room with thirty people and seemed only to care sbout those folks The dining room only had three tables and the food was at a snales pace. I guess the locals know not yo go there for breakfast. The one on north main is fast and frirndly and always busy. I guess now I know. Will not go back to this location.

This Carter Brothers location is far superior than the one on Main Street in High Point. The service is much better here, food is the same… pretty solid. I usually order a chopped BBQ sandwich with hush puppies and sweet tea. For some reason on my most recent trip I tried the course chopped BBQ sandwich. Course chopped is large chunks of meat as opposed to pulled/shredded pork. The course chopped BBQ was much more juicy than the chopped. The only downside is that it is much more difficult to eat and not make a huge mess. The chunks don’t really hold the sandwich together as well as the chopped BBQ. The hushpuppies are average. I prefer a little more onion flavor. Caution: both the chopped and course chopped BBQ sandwiches are delivered on a bun that is rendered soggy by all the juices from the meat and slaw. If you don’t like soggy bread, order a chopped plate or tray and get rolls on the side.

What a shame. I had the beef ribs, which were the worst beef ribs I’ve ever tasted. It’s hard to mess these things up, but somehow they were grisly and the meat tasted steamed. Definitely not the ideal melted flavor beef ribs usually have. The sides(mac and cheese + okra) were unexceptional except for the hush puppies, which truly were among the best I’ve ever had.

The food was just what I would have expected from a BBQ joint in NC. The wait staff was very friendly and made for a nice dining experience. If I am around here again and want BBQ, mac and cheese, sweet tea — this might be the place. The breakfast looked like it could be good — maybe I will go back for that…

I’ve heard mixed reviews on this place so I thought I would give it a try. I was a little put off by a lot of religious décor and prints there; I’m assuming this is a known trait of this place but I had no clue. The menu was large with many different combinations of the same things. I ordered the two meat special with okra and mac & cheese. I had the pork ribs and the BBQ chicken. The ribs were cooked well but they were just barely warm and not hot at all. The chicken was the same. I could tell the chicken had been tender but because it was allowed to get a little cold it started getting a little dry and tough. The BBQ was average. The mac & cheese wasn’t took bad but like everything else could have been warmer. The okra was a bit soggy and lacked that amazing crunch that fried okra needs to have to be great. The banana pudding was probably the highlight of the meal. It was creamy and smooth and didn’t lack in the waffers. The prices for all of the food you get is a fair price however the temperature of the food ruined it for me. Had it been heated up again it would just be more dry and I didn’t want to wait for a whole new order. Service — 3.5 Atmosphere — 1 Cleanliness — 3 Food — 2 Value — 3 Total — 2.5

Being from Memphis, we have been searching for decent BBQ in GSO. First try was Carter’s and sadly, it was a bad experience. Full rack of ribs ordered turned out to be what is normally a ½ rack(6 bones) Seemed boiled, but can’t confirm. Baked beans tasted like ketchup and cole slaw was like blended baby food. My son couldn’t even finish the pork sandwich because«something tasted terrible». Chicken fingers were good according to my other son. We’ll try somewhere else next. Any ideas???

This only for their breakfast… Wow!!! Listen, if you want a tasty biscuit sammich, please go around to the back of biscuitville to this great joint. These guys make fabulous(yeah I said fabulous) biscuits. Sausage, egg, and cheese was my choice, but the egg and cheese was good, and the fried tenderloin biscuit is enough to happily feed two. Bottom Line: If you want a proper cat head biscuit(a biscuit the size of a cat’s head) that is heavenly buttered and won’t fall apart, then come here!

Carter Brothers actually has a large menu that changes daily. They have specials like chicken pie, flounder, etc. I am not a fan of their barbecue, but other people seem to really like it. I prefer barbecue that is chopped very small, and with very little odd, chewy chunks in it. I really like their cheeseburgers, and the seasoned fries are yummy also. The drive thru moves pretty fast, and the staff is usually pertty friendly. Good food, but nothing to jump up-and-down over.

This is a three location chain in the Guilford County area that serves Lexington style chopped barbecue, sandwiches, and meat &2 plates, with a variety of changing daily specials. They also serve breakfast. The menu is large and can offer something for everyone. This location is in the relatively new cluster of establishments at the intersection of W. Wendover and Eastchester Drive. No evidence that they cook the pig here, probably done in High Point, and shipped in here, probably same is true for the Archdale location. The pork barbecue is typically Lexington style, moderately chopped, and well sauced coming out of the kitchen. It is moist, tender, with no discernible smokiness, and with a slightly underlying sweetness found in almost all Lexington barbecue. They offer both a red barbecue slaw and a white cole slaw. This is middle of the road barbecue, not bad, just not great. They have 2 commercial hot sauces on the table, one being Texas Pete, and they have a house made, vinegar based sauce with a little heat, not bad, not special. The hush puppies are small with a nice crust and good flavor — I liked them. The Brunswick Stew, which is not a daily menu item, is only ok, there is an underlying taste that I don’t care for. We tried the Country Style Steak with Fried Okra and Pintos, and this was ordinary, as well. The steak was the composite type of «mystery meat» that you used to find in various school systems in the state. The gravy is the very dark brown kind that is prepared from a mix or base. Fried Okra was ok, pintos were canned, and not well seasoned. All in all, not particularly impressive — I might grab a flyby sandwich on ocassion, but that would be about all. Country Barbecue, a block or so away, is a better choice for barbecue and other lunch items. Don’t know about breakfast here, haven’t tried it yet.
