History

Established in 1978.

Studio41 is a division of Logan Square Aluminum Supply, Inc. in Chicago, IL, the company founded by immigrant Isaac Silver over 40 years ago and still privately owned. Remodelers Supply Center, catering to city contractors needs, and ClimateGuard Windows, Chicago’s leading vinyl replacement window manufacturer, are the other two divisions that make up the company. My major issue is customer service. Interestingly, if you go to the Highland Park showroom, or Chicago showroom the sales rep is equally BAD in both places. These reps will first look at you then pretend you don’t exist by pretending to look busy. When you do find someone, their attitude is generally as if you are really bothering them by taking up their time.
Do not waste your time going to this place. I’ve had a great experience elsewhere (like Banner).

Worst customer service EVER! I started with a sales rep Kate McNulty and after several hours of choosing bathroom elements she told me I was all set but she was going on vacation but that anyone could help me by just «looking «at my order. After 4 attempts to find out information I was about to give up because my order was so messed up. Thankfully Patty Cox was able to step in and help. She was professional, easy to work with and a lovely lady.

We went to Studio 41 to get sinks, and faucets for 2 bathrooms, laundry room and wet bar. We worked with Olga. She asked all the right questions to help us hone in on exactly what we wanted. She was very knowledgeable about the product lines. Our experience was wonderful!

Needed some help resolving an issue with our Handsgroh kitchen faucet. Casey in Customer Service was very helpful in determining the issue and locating the needed part. He took extra time to test the unit after the part was replaced to assure that it worked properly. Very pleased with the extra effort. High quality products with excellent customer service. A great combination.

Have done business with Studio 41 for years & they have always proven to be a good place to do business. Just recently I have been dealing with a young man, Zak Silver, who has been so attentive to my account. He constantly keeps track of my order & updates me on pieces that have shipped. Always an update email. He even checked in weeks after all my pieces were in to make sure that I was pleased with the way they looked. This young man goes a step farther than most sale people. Definitely give him a call if you need anything from Studio 41.

I visited this location twice and have never been treated so poorly. A very bitter sales woman, who should NOT be in any type of customer service position, reluctantly approached me. When I explained I needed a vessel sink faucet, she said, «I don’t need to know what kind of sink you have.» She was rude and delusional. How else would I ask for a vessel sink faucet without saying its a vessel sink? I also needed cabinet hardware and she stated that she couldn’t help me. I’m not sure how this place acquires business with people like her representing them. …By the way, I’m a decorator and have worked with many vendors over the last seven years and Studio 41 is the worst I’ve encountered.
***Update: The son of the owner of Studio 41 reached out to apologize and promised he would provide exceptional customer service if I would give them another chance. His apology is much appreciated. I hope the entire sales team learns how to treat their customers as well as he has.

I’m so happy Ryan responded to my initial review because it demonstrates their poor business model of defensiveness and blaming the customer. Wake up Studio 41, if a customer is unhappy, it’s because you didn’t deliver on any level of customer satisfaction. If management responds in this manner, you know there’s something wrong with this place. I mean when does a customer have to apologize? If an establishment can’t grasp the basic premise of «the customer is always right», then they need to re-​examine their approach. Studio 41 believes that I owe Them an apology when it is me the customer that is paying them for goods and services??? Hmmm, bizarro world indeed.

We went to Studio 41 to get the materials to renovate 2 of our bathrooms. On two occassions we were shopping and didn’t find the sales people terribly helpful. On our third trip to the store, Marya helped us. She was AWESOME! Walked us through everything, gave us her honest opinions, made recommendations, and made sure that we ordered all of the pieces and parts that we needed.
We got everything that we ordered on time. No problems. The only issue we had was with a Grohe faucet and handle that were defective. Studio 41 got us a new one in two days, but we had to pay an extra $ 125 for the plumber to come out again. Grohe should be paying for that.

I will never buy anything from them again!
We are having our master bathroom redone and our contractor went through Studio 41 in Highland Park for our kolher tub. The job was suppose take 6 weeks or less and we had to move out of our bedroom during that time. We have been sleeping on an air mattress on the floor of another room. The tub was scheduled to be delivered on the Monday of week four. The tile could not be laid until the tub was in and therefore the cabinets and related electrical also could not go in. The tub was a no show. No word from Studio 41. Wednesday, Bob, our GC, sent Oscar, the salesperson, an email. No response. Bob then sent daily emails and left Oscar phone messages with no luck. After more than a week Bob drove over there and was told that the tub would take three weeks to arrive as it was back ordered. At this point I left a voice mail for Dave Lambert, Oscar’s manager. He never returned my call. Bob went over there again and Studio 41 was finally able to track down the tub at another of their stores. We finally got it 3 weeks late, but because of Oscar and Dave’s lack of customer service and being proactive when they knew that the tub was late and back ordered now our GC tile person is off on other jobs.
At this point we are five weeks behind because Oscar and Dave were not open honest and proactive abut the tub. We still don’t know when our bathroom will be done.
This is costing us a lot more in time, inconvenience and money and we have to continue sleeping on the floor. Their lack of customer-​care and customer-​respect has had a ripple effect that is having unintended consequences. We will never buy for them, recommend them or use any contractor that does.

I originally wrote this review for the Chicago location, by mistake. The review is specific to the Highland Park location.
Studio 41 is great at taking your original order, and appearing very helpful on the first phone call. Call back with any changes — or if your order arrives damaged — and the email responses suddenly have works like «yikes» and «ugh» when you request new or replacement pieces. One saleswoman in particular is not helpful. In fact, she eventually never returns emails.
It’s hard enough buying expensive bath fixtures over the internet, since showroom stock is so limited. It’s even harder when you have an unhelpful sales rep.
I would not recommend Studio 41 — at least not this location.

We were ignored by every single person working at this store from the moment we walked through the door, from the receptionist (isn’t it her job to say hi or at least make eye contact?) to the many salespeople/​consultants who were standing around all over the place. It was kind of surreal to walk through their showrooms and feel invisible to the people who ostensibly would like to sell you some fixtures. My boyfriend had the specs for his project in hand and was ready to buy, but Studio 41’s astonishing lack of customer service completely put us off. Several thousand dollars will now be spent elsewhere.

Excellent store for all your renovations. Big and small. They are pricey, you could save money elsewhere. But I did like doing everything on one place. So much easier to design and revise that way.

The store has a lot of merchandise on the floor so it gives you an opportunity to see plumbing finishes, door hardware, cabinet hardware, cabinetry, sinks, mirrors in person which is great. It is very unique in this and one of the few places in Chicago that has all in one location. I have shopped at the Highland Park and Touhy location over 5 times. The staff is very knowledgeable. To get the best help make an appointment prior to arriving at the store. I have found Lukasz at the Touhy location to be the most helpful. At the Highland park store, the service falls short. If you are ordering more than a few pieces check your quote. We had to keep going back to the sales person ~6 times to get it correct. Then when you finally place the order it is difficult to find out when the order will actually be delivered. If there service was better — this place would be a 5 star store. So why you ask do I shop at Highland park over Touhy sometimes when their service is not that great — it is a larger store with more products on the floor and sometimes you want to see it in person. The other nice thing about the Highland Park store is don’t forget to browse the 2 discount sections in the back. We have found some great deals back there. It is hit or miss but if you are there you might as well look.

My husband and I purchased over $ 20K in remodeling our bathrooms from the Highland Park store. We decided to replace our hallway bifold doors and met with Dave Lambert. He gave us a book to review. I sent him several emails and phone messages which he never returned. I had my contractor contact him and he even had difficulty. Finally, he was able to get in touch with Dave who placed the order for the bifold doors. After waiting over 2 months, they finally arrived. Only problem — they were bypass doors and no tracks were included. These doors cost nearly $ 2K. Even the the invoice clearly says bifold doors, Studio 41 says its not their problem and they refuse to do anything about it. So if you don’t care that they don’t know the difference between a bifold and bypass door, then this is the store for you! For selling to upscale shoppers, I am very surprised and disappointed in their lack of responsiveness.

This comment is on the chain overall. I’ve never been to the Highland Park location. I’ve shopped at Schaumburg. I shopped there over the years 3 times. 2 out of the 3, it turned into a horror story. 1st time I bought kitchen cabinets and nothing really bad happened (7 years ago). The second time I bought kitchen cabinets for a different house and the sales rep was sloppy and screwed up two cabinets. One mistake I caught with the work order and called him less than an hour after I ordered. The other cabinet I modified so I could use it. He said he’ll change the order. Then I called back an hour later and asked him to read the whole order to me. He said he had already changed it. Then guess what. Nine weeks later they come with the wrong cabinet. Then they hassled me another 11 weeks till they got the right one. This was 3 years ago. Finally, I bought a patio door 5 years ago. Today the outside glass of the sliding part of the door spontaneously cracked and collapsed. I call service and of course the glass is not covered by the lifetime warranty that was such a big selling point when I bought the door. Service rep says he’ll call me back and let me know when they are coming. 2 hours later, no call, so I called back. Lady just stated that they are busy right now and can’t talk to me. I was not mean or anything so just said Thank you because I could not figure out what else to say… I would never shop there again.

A great place to go for all those things you need to make you’re house beautiful. They have tiles, sinks, faucets, and much, much more. The showroom is huge and the selection is vast. The sales people here are great too!
