Love love love this place. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic and authentic. Love that they keep the kimchi and relishes flowing. If you are a newbie to Korean food ask for help and maybe save the grill for a second visit.

My husband and I have been there a few times now and it is some of the best Korean food I’ve had! Not only that, but by far the best customer service we’ve ever had at this type of restaurant. They are so friendly and are eager to explain the menu if you have questions. So happy we are just down the street as we will be regular customers! Love the bulgogi, bibimbap, and sweet potato noodle stir fry. And all the sides are so delicious!

We ordered Combination B(pork belly, thinly sliced beef, spicy pork, dwenjang jjigae, & steamed egg for about $ 55) and it was more than enough for the two of us. I think for three people, it might be too little. The samgyubsal(pork belly) was my favorite. The servers were good about coming around & asking if we needed a refill on the banchan(side dishes). The only thing I felt was missing was pa moochim(korean scallion salad). And I don’t think any of the restaurants in Oregon do the mixed fried rice on the grill at the end. If they did, it would really top off the meal! Next time, we would definitely take our time cooking the different meats, because everything got cold pretty quick — I think the ventilation was pretty good in there.

Great place for a family dinner. Me and my family always get combo family deals so it’s easier order for everyone and a for reasonable price. I noticed they usually changed some banchan items everytime I’m here but there still serve you the classics like kimchi, fish cakes, etc. Friendly staff and good service. The service button on the table is really convenient. Tip: wear clothes that you don’t care about because you will smell like bbq meat all day. Lol

My lunch meal was disappointing; I can’t remember the dish name but it consist of 95% rice, 2% MEAT, 3% vegetables, I was hoping to have decent amount of meat on that meal. I go out to eat decent food, not expecting to eat more rice on my meal. I can cook rice at home. My partner has a soup, it also has a little amount of meat. We don’t expected to have lots of meat in our meal, just a decent amount since price is more expensive, than if you go to Vietnamese restaurant.

Our first time trying Korean BBQ and it was a fantastic experience! Impeccable service from start to finish and the food was delicious. Waiter who sat us was super helpful in explaining difference in table(grill vs. cooked food from kitchen) and explained how the menu worked. Appreciated his patience and friendliness. We opted for the ala carte style rather than preset combo meal. Chose the thicker type of pork belly and ribs along with a couple of beers neither of us had tried before. Side dishes were fantastic: sugared peanuts, cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, bean sprout, pickled radish, salad, and a broccoli with dressing. Broccoli wasn’t to our liking but everything else was great. Meats came with onion, mushroom, garlic and jalapeño for grilling along with a bean paste spread, a dipping sauce, lettuce leaves to make meat/filling wraps and rice. Really appreciated that the staff kept an eye on our grill and stopped by to turn and check meats while they cooked as well as to cut up meats into smaller pieces as they finished cooking. I’m not familiar with cooking pork belly so the help was awesome. Waiter also offered us tips on combinations of sides to try. Pork belly wrapped in pickled radish and ribs with peanut and bean sprouts were a couple favorites. Overall this was a really perfect date night meal and a lot of fun. I haven’t eaten this much meat in years but the food tasted clean and nourishing. Was a bit pricey at about $ 75 for 2 including giant beers but it was definitely worth it. Only thing I would do differently is order the thinner slices of pork belly instead of the thick. As an only occasional meat eater, the bigger pieces were a little intense. So– what are you waiting for? Try this place!

The craving for Korean bbq has been gnawing away at my soul since moving to Portland. But I wanted a good table bbq spot. My friend took me here yesterday and it did not disappoint. Yummy short ribs. Great bulgogi. I even tried their tofu soup. If you’re from LA and miss BCD Tofu, the soup here is pretty good. I also got a plate of steamed dumplings for my 10 month old– he loved them. Service was good. It was slow for lunch and the waiter was nice and made us laugh. My friend and I were catching up so our lunch was a long one and we definitely didn’t feel rushed and I really appreciate that. Only thing is their small plates(have no idea what they’re called, sorry!) served with the meal were SMALL. Yes, the kimchi was yummy but it definitely wasn’t enough for two people– it only had two slices of cabbage stalks. Am I alone in wanting more than 1 cabbage stalk with my meal? Definitely not enough for me and my friend… Not even with the other 5 small plates served. Still yummy, tho. Definitely coming back. I want to try their green onion pancakes.

My daughter was under the weather, so we went to Gengnam Korean BBQ in search of some hot soup. We had the Dumpling and Rice cake soup and Seafood Soft Tofu Soup. They were smaller in size, but the taste was great. We both thought the dumplings and broth were exceptional. As for the Seafood in the soft tofu soup, my daughter commented the seafood tasted fresher than at most other Korean eateries. We also loved their Banchan free dishes. My favorites were the cucumber and regular kimchi. Gengham also has the nicest décor of the Beaverton Korean eateries. The BBQ booths are lovely, and chic. Unfortunately, if you are not doing the BBQ, you will be directed toward regular simple tables. We asked if we could sit in the booths, and they said«yes», since it was mid afternoon. I’d love to come back to try their BBQ, but probably it will be for a special occasion. I found the BBQ prices to be on the high end. I think it would make a special date night. As for the constant KPop videos playing, it was good times for my Kpop loving teenager. For me, I the chirpy videos were a bit too much to listen to for the whole hour.

If you are not familiar with this type of food, don’t try it. It sounds simple enough. Who could screw up a grill in the center of a table and meat placed on it? Well somehow this place managed to miss on every attempt with us. The multitude of mystery bowls presented with the fatty, gristly meat choices was overwhelming(maybe a bad day for just us) As we all tried to muster the sack to try what smelled like ass in the first few mystery bowls each time we did it about threw us into up chuck mode. Just not for us. I saw plenty of folks seemingly enjoying each and all mystery bowls on the table. Just not for us. Never again. We felt like we were in fear factor without the 50G’s!

Highly recommend this place for Korean BBQ. I’ve gone here a few times and am never disappointed. Side dishes are very good and the meat platter combos are fresh. Good food and even awesome service. Definitely going back again.

Upon our arrival my family had already grabbed a seat which was convenient for us. As soon as we walked in all we can smell was the grill smell just like every Korean restaurant in Oregon. We arrived promptly at 5:30 pm and there were only a few tables filled. Prior to actually sitting, I noticed that our booth can technically sit 6 people and was wondering why we couldn’t get a bigger table(my dad had to sit on the end). We sat down first to review the menu before asking my parents why we were at such a small table. After reviewing the menu, we decided on the following dishes: — Mul Mandu aka 10 steamed dumplings for $ 8.95 — Kimchi neon(pancake) for $ 8.95 — Pajeon(green onion pancake) for $ 6.95 — Combo F aka BBQ Combination that includes: short rib, boneless beef short ribs, beef brisket, pork belly, spicy pork, bean paste soup & steamed egg for $ 85.95. While waiting for the tea, just sitting and waiting my mom informed me that for parties larger than 6 needs to call in for a reservation or simply make a reservation via Unilocal. They only have 2 tables with the grill that can sit 10 at 1 table. There are 2 tables that sit 10, so if you have a party of 20 your set only if you call ahead. Had we known we would of done either to get better seating arrangements. I’m pretty sure though those 2 larger tables fill up quick on a weekend. The dining area is rather small. It was a good 15 minutes before any tea showed up. Shortly after the tea, our side dishes(small portions) showed up. The waiter placed them on the table in random places so I decided to move it on one end because we knew there would be more food coming. We asked the waiter to bring more side dishes out for the other end of the table instead of passing the dishes back and forth. In addition, we asked for more napkins and tea. Our waiter started the grill with cooking the onions and first plate of the meats. He walked away after that and we continued to cook meat. The waiter returned with more side dishes and napkins but forgot the 7th bowl of rice and tea. We had to ask for the rice and tea again. I get the place is busy but if the waiter has issues keeping track of what a customer needs than write it down. Moments later he finally brought out the 7th bowl of rice and pot of hot tea. The meats were good to my liking as well as the pancakes but the steamed egg was slightly over cooked. As we were eating our food, I had thought to myself that our waiter must of disappeared as he hasn’t checked up on us except in the beginning to see if we needed anything else. A waitress walked by to see if we needed anything else and at that point we just ask for side dishes. She took away our empty dishes and came right out with more side dishes. After she walked away, we wanted more tea and knew we had to track down someone else. My dad politely asked the hostess that walked by with customers for more tea. She didn’t acknowledge him at the time as she was busy but she did return with a pot of tea. Towards the end of our dinner, the waiter came back to ask if we needed anything else. At this point, we didn’t need anything else. Hmm. I wonder where the waiter went. I love Korean food in general but there are way too many dishes being used on the size of the table. There is a dish for everything. I’m sure at one point our rice lids, silverware fell or was accidentally knocked over with all the dishes on the table. At one point, we would transfer the raw chicken w/the pork just to remove a plate. I wanted a glass a water but didn’t ask due to the lack of space on the table. I continued to drink the tea. For those of you whom never had Korean food, I highly suggest that you don’t wear anything fancy. Your clothes, hair and body will smell like Korean food. The vents at Gangnam Korean BBQ isn’t strong enough to remove the grill smoke which is why you will stink. If you plan on wearing a jacket(leave it in the car) unless you don’t mind the smell. Overall, the food was decently good but the service was horrible as many others Unilocalers mentioned. Now, if you can speak Korean service will most likely be better. Due to the lack of service, I wouldn’t return anytime soon. I certainly wasn’t impressed with service and I felt it was slightly unorganized. Should I decide to, I would skip out on a weekend and go on a week day instead(less chaotic). No Korean food in Oregon will ever compare to K-Town in Los Angeles, CA.

Problems: — Soon tofu stew: completely not authentic. They use the ramen-style powder soup in their base so it tastes like a salty ramen mess with tofu, so if that’s your thing, go for it. Horrible. — Gangnam jeonggol/casserole: our server told us the seafood included mussels and that there were udon noodles in it. The menu description generically states«…w/meat, seafood, and udon noodles.» When it came, it had zero mussles and only pieces of bone-filled fish so you couldn’t even eat the veggies because the fish bones would fall apart and intermix with everything. Also, NOUDONNOODLES. They were shouting in the back that they were out of udon noodles but never came to us to explain it, I guess they thought we couldn’t understand their Korean. After asking them about it, they admitted they just threw in some dumplings instead and hoping we wouldn’t notice. Sorry but when your menu says udon and your server advertises udon, its pretty disappointing to not get what you ordered. Not only that but then trying to be duped. — Korean male server: No apologies, no nothing in terms of trying to remedy the previous problems. Also he was wearing black frame glasses with no lenses. So hip. With all the other options for way better Korean food, skip this place. Unless you’re not Korean and don’t know any better. :)

Not ridiculously crowded and pretty new add to the area. Had their biggest combination Kbbq which I think was combination F. Kinda good but portions are small compared to the AYCE as a norm in LA. Extra steam egg was 3 bucks and was awesome. You can sub the soup in the combination for steam egg and they are usually okay with it :) haven’t tried the other stuff yet but will probably be back!

This new place opened near my work and after the mad crowd the first few weeks, it’s better now. I’ve been twice so far and didn’t have to wait. Since I went for lunch, we never did the self grilling. They have 10 or so lunch specials starting ~$ 10. It’s basically a «bento» box consisting of salad(good dressing), choice of meat, jap chae(clear stir fried noodles) and rice. I like how everything taste. They also give banchan(the side dishes) before the meal and I’ve tried a few different ones and they are also good. Free refills if you ask nicely ;) Service was good. Prompt and my water got refilled as needed. Although with one older Korean waitress I had to repeat order 3X before she got it right and she didn’t write it down. I was worried a little bit, but she did get the order right. While it’s a little expensive for weekday lunch, it’s good quality and amount of food. I would definitely be back.

My party of 3 ordered the grill combo B and a pork soon du boo. I do not usually order grilling meats, but we decided to try it here. The meat was plentiful, and different servers kept stopping by the table to turn the meat or adjust the grill temperature. Although it comes with 2 dipping sauces, it would be nice if all of the meat was marinated – only the short ribs were marinated in our combination. The cucumber kim chi makes a good dipping sauce. The soon du boo was fine, but seemed to have a slight tomato flavor. There was a good assortment of ban chan, and they were great about offering refills – something that almost never happens at other Korean restaurants, and usually makes me feel guilty asking for. The service was excellent and attentive! Everyone was very friendly and several different waiters checked on us to make sure we didn’t need anything and to offer help with grilling.

Happy to have a decent Korean restaurant so close to where I live. Portions are smaller than most others but I liked the food. Of course it can’t compare to Nakwon which holds a special place in my heart but it’s faster and closer. I ordered Yookaejang($ 13) or spicy beef soup and it was quite good. Very standard dish for me. My two friends got seafood and beef tofu soups($ 9). I liked the flavor of the seafood one and it came with a lot of seafood. I plan on coming back to check out their BBQ.

For those of us that lives in Hillsboro and do not want to venture into downtown Beaverton for Korean food because we have to deal with street parking, Gangnam Korean BBQ is a great alternative. I have also been waiting for this store to open ever since I moved into the area and I was so happy to be able to get a grill table without a wait. Of course, we went on a weekday and avoided the weekend crowds. The service was very prompt and I was impressed with the waiters. They were very attentive when our side dishes of various different kimchi disappeared they came by often to ask if we would like more. Since it was my husband and I, we opted to get the Barbecue Combo #1 and the portion for two person was huge! The price for two person ain’t bad either. I definitely will come back here again!

Food is good, but service sucks. Limited menu compared to most Korean restaurants. For example, no seafood dishes. I had the dolsot bimbimbop. Small portion, but still good. The servers really need to get their act together. They have 4 or 5 people running such a small area, but service is so slow. I had to flag a server after 10 mins to take my order. Then, it took about 20 mins to get my food. This was almost 2pm on a Thursday, so not rush hour here. Also, let’s not wear spandex. I almost lost my appetite. Almost! I got an iron stomach. I still recommend Haerim for service, food, and menu. The servers are very friendly there. At Gangnam… not so much. Due to the location, I will probably come back, but mid-afternoon or when they first open.
