Big Island Aina Tours

I travel a lot but I only rate small businesses that rock it! Gil and Tina’s tour group company was a lucky find after sorting through other companies that herd you around with 80 other people.
We booked the Hawaii Volcano National Park tour.
The things I loved about This tour:
–We went directly to the park first. Advantages were getting there before the big buses (alone at the lava tube) and as we were on a cruise ship, the last part of the day was closer to port. This helped me feel safe that we wouldn’t miss the ship if something happened (we got back with plenty of time).
–Small vans of 6 or 10ish people.
–We got to go to the 1974 lava flow. Big buses are too big to go there. Not something to miss. You get to stand on NEW earth.
–A lot of reviews I saw about other tours said they spent a lot of time at the nut and orchid places. Being a small tour group, we were able to see everything big buses went PLUS a black sand beach and a huge mangrove tree and the 1974 lava flow.
–No worries about getting a crappy tour guide or crazy driver. You will be with one of the 2 owners.

YES ! What a great tour we had yesterday of a) Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory, b) Orchid Garden, and c) Volcano National Park… Gil was the most gracious and informative tour guide we have experienced. We arrived at the predetermined location 25 minutes ahead of time… only to find Gil already there, with the mini-​van doors open and all ready for us to jump in and go ! For our family of 5, it was the perfect morning /​afternoon to get in a lot of sights, but to also get a lot of education on the local points of interest (as well as volcanoes).
Along the way, Gil provided water, lychee, and chocolate covered macadamia nuts. We passed a lot of big tour buses along the way, and our personalized tour was definitely the WAY TO GO !!
