Lepore’s Home Made Chocolates

I was on the hunt for some custom made chocolates, and my search led me to Lepore’s. There aren’t many specialty chocolate shops like this in the Hoboken /​JC area, so I’m really glad that I found this gem.
The inside of the shop is pretty teeny, but despite the small interior they can whip up nearly every type of chocolate creation imaginable. The owner is super nice and hilarious. Basically, the exact type of person that I’d expect to run a chocolate shop. He wasn’t sure how the custom chocolate would come out, so he told me that he’d be happy to test out a few and would call me with an update if they came out looking kinda funky.
Luckily, the custom chocolates came out perfectly! 1.50/chocolate is a tad pricey, but for a great product paired with excellent customer service it was well worth the cost. I don’t have too many custom chocolate related needs, but next time I do this will be where I go. However, more often than not I do crave a chocolate covered pretzel… or maybe two. So I have a feeling that I’ll be back in again soon!

The chocolate here is wonderful. My friend tried a few of the barks and the chocolate Oreos, it was heaven.

We wanted a treat after being rushed a bit in Empire and this was the perfect little spot. After being a bit hungover in the AM and craving a delicious treat, we found this sweet shop.
Homemade truffles, chocolate covered chips and yummy dark PB cups abound. This little tiny shop was covered head to toe with Frank Sinatra paraphernalia and the owner was a real gem. He made us laugh and let us walk around choosing slowly. It was a perfect little spot for a sweet! Check him out.
Oh, and it was DELICIOUS!
I had salted caramel, dark PB cups, espresso truffle and a toffee crunch. Yum!

Offered us chocolate hearts on the house, well she won our hearts with free chocolate!
We took 3 white chocolate peanut butter cups, three milk chocolate cups, 3 planters esq peanut treats, a milk chocolate salted caramel and three peanut butter chocolate Krispies, the whole thing came out to be just under 14 dollars. If I bought that anywhere else I would have been out 30 dollars!

My boyfriend introduced me to the wonderful world of Lepore’s chocolates this past Valentine’s day. After polishing off both boxes of chocolates, I asked him to take me to the shop itself. It’s a small shop, but there is chocolate EVERYWHERE you look! Lepore’s is a wonderful local chocolatier with something for everyone.
My favorites are the white chocolate covered dark chocolate mousse. I also like the salted milk chocolate caramels (though I wish they made these in dark chocolate too).

I was just in the store today! They owners are extremely friendly and very willing to help. Buying from a local business is always the way to go when it comes to food. Highly recommended, the truffles are delicious!

My little boy always begged to go into this store after school i fell in love with the cheerful sweet and outstanding service. Treats are amazing!!!

Ordered about 2 lbs of chocolate covered fruit from here for a company meeting. For the price, it was well worth it — came on a fancy pants plastic tray. I asked the manager to just keep things assorted, he could mix milk and dark, and go as crazy as he wanted — I work in advertising. They included choco covered grapes, blueberries, dried fruit, bananas, all items you may not have normally rec’d at a big boy shop. Will definitely be returning. Eyed a massive chocolate bunny in the window the other day that will be mine!

I’m always taken aback by their cheery, chatty customer service. I’m so used to places where they have minimal conversation, give you the product, end throw you out the door. I’m almost impatient at first but then– what the heck? It’s a candy store, relax and enjoy it.
I guess I should say something about the product. I will always be partial to my childhood candy store but this is very very good. They have a huge variety of treats and really tasty chocolate. Stop by every few weeks and see what seasonal French bulldog critter they have on display :)

I walk by this place pretty regularly on my way to and from work, and finally decided to stop in today.
The selection isn’t as large as other chocolate shops I’ve been to, but they carry all the mainstays and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I also noticed a small selection of sugar-​free chocolates, so that’s definitely something to keep in mind as well.
The chocolate? Delicious! It has that nice, creamy consistency of quality chocolate and doesn’t have that chemical flavor so many mass-​market produced candies do, and it was all very fresh. It tasted the way I remember my grandma’s candy tasting, when she used to buy pounds of fresh chocolate and make her own concoctions of rice crisipies or coconut or peanuts.
I picked up a variety of little truffles to share: peanut butter, caramel, raspberry, graham cracker — there’s not one dud in the bunch and it was just around $ 11 for about 10 pieces of chocolate. It’s a little bit spendy, but hey, it’s a specialty shop.(plus it goes by weight, and the raspberry grahams are pretty dense).
So, if you have the urge to satiate your sweet tooth, I would definitely recommend stopping in here!

Discovering Lepore’s may be dangerous for me as it is on the way to my favorite Hoboken coffee shop Empire.
Quick, friendly, personable service. I love the chime of the bells when you enter.
If chocolate is your thing, this is your place.
Chocolate covered pretzels, potato chips, bacon, graham crackers, and a slew of others. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, nuts, no nuts, you get the gist right?
I fell slightly in love with the dark chocolate covered graham cracker. But those coconut covered caramels are my absolute fave.
The perfect spot for sweet treats on the go.

I only tried 2 things here:
the milk chocolate peanut butter cup
the milk chocolate covered oreo
Perhaps not too original compared to the selection they had, but I know what combination of ingredients would have satisfied me and they were finger-​licking good. I like that it’s homemade too — it reminds me of what several brand names use to taste like before they started substituting sugar for other ingredients…

Hoboken homemade chocolates — so yummy. I got a big and heavy pre-​made box for $ 20 which I considered a good deal.
They have unique candies like chocolate coated cereal and they’re pretty darn good.

No visit to Hoboken is complete without a visit to Lepores. I grew up on Garden Street in Hoboken and Lepores was down the street from our apartment.
The new location on 4^th Street is right off «The Avenue» or Washington Street for the locals and oddly enough, just as tiny as the original location.
This place has everything you could ever want in a boutique chocolate shop. A half pound of chocolate will run you $ 11 before tax and you can get quite the sampler of their amazing offerings.
I highly recommend their sea salt caramels in milk chocolate. Their other standouts are the chocolate covered cherries and the Irish Cream truffles. Those are just my faves but you really can’t go wrong with anything from Lepores!

This place is bad news bears… because I found it! Lepore’s is **‘Mmm ‘Mmm** good (sorry, my mouth was just full of chocolate). They seem to be somewhat known for their chocolate covered potato chips, but in my opinion they are good, but not great. However, the butter cream truffle and peanut butter cup, both of the dark chocolate variety, were glorious! I’ve yet to sample the white chocolate pretzel and the dark chocolate covered Oreo since I’m rationing my delights. Assorted do-​it-​yourself boxes seem to run about $ 11 per ½ pound (I think). This is a place where you can go for parental gifts or other necessary (or completely unnecessary?) purchases. I’m trying to forget where it’s located so I don’t find my feet involuntarily leading me in that direction in the future. The lady who helped us was very nice and chatty. Lepore’s is definitely a local family establishment, which are the kinds of places to give business to, in my opinion.

Great local chocolate shop in Hoboken. There are tons of flavors in chocolate pieces, as well as chocolate covered nuts, pretzels, etc. The store owner is really nice, and even let me sample a few pieces since I was standing there absolutely overwhelmed by how many flavors there were. Nice of him to do that!
I really like how the inside of a lot of the chocolate is just, well, whipped chocolate. I know a lot of the other chocolate places have a lot of fruit filling chocolate, and I abhor that, so this is chocolate at its best. He even had Bailey’s Irish crème pieces, which actually turned out pretty good, with the inside being chocolate + Bailey’s (of course). If you’re a dark chocolate fan, try the Champagne Dark or the Black forest ones. Exquisite.
I’m always really fond of local chocolate shops because these hardworking people make their chocolate everyday instead of being shipped out from a factory en masse. Bravo!

Lepores offers average quality, unoriginal chocolates. If you’re looking to satisfy your daily sweet tooth, you’re better off with the national brands, since they provide more consistent and comparable quality products at a fraction of the cost. Otherwise, for those special treats, spend a bit more (get out of Hoboken) and purchase some real artisan chocolates.

Found this place down a side street. I believed they were located somewhere else in town. The inside and outside of the place looks very bland. But the chocolate display looked very nice and they had a good selection to choose from. I found the chocolate to be delicious, and the variety was pretty decent as well. I would say the chocolate they sell is high quality and a bit pricey but well worth the money when you want to splurge on something more than a Hershey’s bar. When you want to treat yourself to some good stuff, this local place will hit the spot in your tummy

Found this little shop by accident today, and I’m sooo glad I did. Got a selection of chocolates (even though it was 1030 am) and couldn’t resist — started scoffing as soon as I left the shop!
they were delicious, and all the better for being home made. Not your boring run-​of-​the-​mill stuff either.
they’ve got a selection you can pick to order, plus gift boxes and packs etc.
the guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, and gave me a sample of a chocolate-​covered potato chip. I thought it might be strange, but it was surprisingly good.
the store itself was interesting — like something from the 1950s or 60s, old pics of Frank and the Rat Pack on the walls, and painted all brightly.
