The only thing taking away a star from this place is the speed of their service. We are talking super slow motion marrying a sloth and giving birth to a snail! The chicken itself is excellent! My kids were literally begging for the leftovers for breakfast. Anything food that can keep kids from talking and focused on chewing has to be good!

Damn how slow can you be! Called in my order at 4:00, 15 to 20 minutes the young lady said. It’s 4:37and still nothing! I’M DONEWITHTHISFOOLISHNESS! What is the point to call in an order? My order was small 6wings with an extra order of fries. Finally at 4:40 IHave my order! Totally unacceptable! I’m never coming to this Harolds again!

The quality of the food is great!!! HOWEVER, Be prepared to wait… Even if you phone ahead, you will be waiting, no matter what time they say your order will be ready. They do not update the customers if and when there will be a delay. I’ve been here twice and each time I was told 10 – 15 min… Each time I waited almost 40 min. Of all the Harold’s locations,(and I’m sure most of the Chicsgo natives are Harold’s connoisseurs by now) — this location has the longest wait time hands down. The location is very clean, however, and they do play soothing music I guess to calm some of us down. Lol. But beware! You will be waiting

I’ve eaten my fair share of Harold’s Chicken and I do mean an astronomical share. This location is clean & they have professional employees. My phone order wasn’t ready when I arrived but I expected that. The food was fresh & good(I’ve had better Harold’s but I didn’t feel like driving into the city). What impressed me most about this Harold’s is the cleanliness and the professionalism.

Harold’s chicken runs in my blood because I have eaten it for so long if I was cut I bleed mild sauce. Believe me when I say I go out of my way and pass over other Harold’s to go to Harold’s of Homewood it is the best in south suburbs between matteson and country club, service is always excellent, the place is always clean and smells good, and my wings are always on point.

If I ever had to dine in at a Harold’s, this would be the one. Everyone I know who eats Harold’s has their own personal favorite they tell everyone to go to, usually within the city, but I found this suburban Harold’s to be the best one hands down. Fast service(I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes for my food), clean eating area, professional customer service, and decent sized wings when compared to other Harold’s. I don’t know if it’s the cashier girl or the cook doing this, but I always get an extra wing with my meal! either way, kudos to them! As far as Harold’s go, it’s really a five star joint, but of course a 5 star review would mean it’s the perfect restaurant, and it seems like such an overstatement to give them five, so I’m riding with four. I strongly recommend to all fried chicken lovers!

I always call in my order, and my order is always ready when I arrive. I always order 6 wings with mild sauce and light pepper. The chicken wings are always hot and tasty. Great customer service! I also like that they have daily specials, I usually order on Monday– $ 5.99 Wing Meal Tuesday– $ 0.99 Wing special.

This review is based on customer service. It hasn’t been an hour since I left the Harold’s establishment in Homewood. I have visited this particular Harold’s since moving into the area. The food is usually hit or miss, sometimes not hot enough or with enough sauce, sometimes it’s just right. Today around 7:31 to be exact I called in and placed an order for a 4 wing mild sauce salt and pepper(my usual order). The young lady answering the phone stated to me it would be 15minutes. I arrived shortly after placing my order and came in to a semi-long line, the hold up seemed to be a young girl in front of me who didn’t have enough cash to pay for her food. While waiting and noticing the line getting longer and the phone lines ringing a gentleman who was behind the counter was carrying on his own personal conversation with a customer. It didn’t seem to be related to anything with her purchase, just a random conversation. Finally after seeing the one young lady who was working the register and phone by herself struggle, he ended his conversation to take my order. I told him I had called in, mentioned what my order was, and proceeded to pay. The gentleman then yelled my name to the back(like that actually meant something) and walked off. I waited… and waited… and waited… and waited some more Customers came in and PLACED their orders right there and those same customers WALKEDOUTBEFOREME. By now I’m highly irritated, it was now 7:55pm and I walk to the counter. I asked to speak to the manager(who I thought was the manager) to express my irritation with the entire process. The young lady complied and went to the back to get him at 8:00pm, the line extended and she managed to answer phones and take the orders. By 8:20 I was beyond pissed. I couldn’t believe it, the man in the blue jean shirt who I assumed was the manager had not come out and orders finally started coming out by the bunch. My order finally arrives and I say I still want to speak to the supposed manager. He looks highly irritated and tries to talk to me from across the room. I tell him I want to show him something and proceed to show him my phone showing him the time I called and placed my order and what time it is now 8:25. I spent a total of an HOUR in Harold’s of Homewood for a 4 wing with mild sauce. The guy in the blue shirt proceeded to tell me that it wasn’t his fault, they were busy, do I see the line, and what is it that I want him to do. Before I felt myself get truly angry and say some unkind things. I told him how unprofessional he was by when I first came through the door running his mouth, how they shouldn’t tell customers 15minutes if it’s not really 15minutes, and how I’d never bring my business back to them. Oh yeah give me my money back. He then proceeded to snatch the food away from me and told the young lady to give me the cash I paid for my food. I’m all about supporting black businesses. I love Harold’s but I WILLNEVERGOTOTHEHAROLD’S INHOMEWOODAGAINAND I WILLTELLANYONE I KNOWNOTTOGOEITHER. THEYARETRULYUNPROFESSIONALANDDONOTCAREABOUTMAINTAININGTHEHAPPINESSOFTHEIRCUSTOMERS. I had the worst experience at this Harold’s today. I called in my order at 1:13pm and was told my order would be ready in 10mins. I get to the restaurant and had to wait an additional 37mins for my order to be ready. My issue is what is the purpose of allowing call in orders when the wait time will be the same if I were to walk in. I’ve been to this location several times and I’ve never had such a bad experience. When I attempted to speak to the nonchalant cashier(terry) about why my order was not ready. She said that they were busy.(Why tell me to come in 10mins?) I asked to speak with a manager and was told that one was not available. I then asked when would a manager be in and she replied she didn’t know! Not only has this turned me off from eating here again. but I will be sure to inform everyone on my horrible experience.

When I crave fried chicken, only Harold Chicken can fill that craving. I’ve been to many different Harolds throughout the area, and I would but this in the top of those. Some good thing about this location in particular are: actually seating(a couple tables and a bar ledge) and good fresh food! I’ll be back again, its a shame it is a decent drive for me to get here.

Wow I just love Harold’s. used to have one pretty close to school on Western Avenue 79th Street. That was the first time I ever had it and it’s still fantastic. Food is good service is good place is nice and clean and there a no problems dining in or taking out what a great place my favorite fried chicken place.

This place is not consistent with their food. Sometimes they’re great and then the next time is mediocre. But what they are consistent with is how slow they are. Boy I called in my order, came to pick it up 15 min later(which they said it would be ready at that time) and still waited another 15 minutes. However, the staff I’ve encountered were friendly. I took away one start for the wait time. I took away the other star because the cashier came from the back eating some food while on the phone. I hope she wasn’t handling our food, that was gross. I hope they get better.

Very inconsistent, if u like the catfish dinner, don’t order from here… Cooked soft is not a term they understand… Over the last 6 – 9 mo I’ve tried them more than half a dozen times and 80% of the time they get it wrong, leaving me no other option then to drive to another Harold’s further away…
