G’s Hot Skillet Buffet

They have renamed the place and got rid of the buffet
The meal started well with a nice reception and a good soup and salad bar.
Once the food we ordered arrived it went down hill fast. How can you mess up a blt? Well start by soaking the bread in grease and frying it on a grill. It ended up as a greasy foul tasting mess. They did the same to my wife’s hamburger roll. Add a portion of cold greasy fries to that and you have our meal.

We went on a Saturday night and it was quite empty… which is never wonderful for a buffet. However the food was mostly fresh, there were a couple things that you could tell had been out for a while. The food tasted alright but nothing that was fantastic. Cause honestly… is a buffet ever really fantastic? The best part was the pasta bar.
The night we went was some seafood special night. There was a lovely endless supply of shrimp but it was definitely too expensive for the quality of the rest of what they had to offer.
Like the 2 star option says — Meh. That pretty much says it all.

Have been here a few times now, each time with a genuine hope of success for the business. What a chance these owners have taken ! The hosts and service people are as sweet as sweet can be, and show lots of enthusiasm. We were tickled when a waitress circulated to tell every guest in the restaurant that there was senior having a birthday so that we could all sing along. Our used plates were removed promptly and the food trays were refilled fairly quickly. The real problem is the food itself. With the exception of the tasty, well-​stocked salad bar and the surprsingly good dessert cookies, most of the other choices consist of bad cafeteria food. You eat it thinking, «Why am I doing this?» Again, we wish the owners/​managers success in this restaurant, but they need to take a look at the food and ask themselves, «Is this really what we want to serve our diners?»

Went with a good friend for lunch — I got there a bit early and went into to take a look at the buffet –they will not even allow you to look over the buffet before paying. Left and we went to Rusty’s for a great lunch
