Blue Tree Café

Out here visiting family, I was craving for something healthy and was searching for a good juice bar. As I was reading the reviews for Blue Tree Café, I wanted to check out this place.
My husband and I shared the Blue Tree Acai Bowl which was exceedingly delicious. Also, he decided to try the Blue Tree Blend Smoothie. Although the smoothie was very good, he felt that the combination of the two was over the top. It’s either you order one or the other. I had the Tropical Kombucha Elixir which tasted like a very strong apple cider. I took sips as I ate the Acai Bowl. I did not mind the strong after taste, but it’s truly an acquired taste. Of course, I needed to chase down my breakfast with a Blue Tree Latte which was onolicious.
The gals behind the counter were pleasant and helpful. Also, the 10% does not apply to the bowls. I was able to use the discount for the drinks. We’ll be back before we go home to the mainland.

Blue Tree Café is a wonderful not-​quite-​third generation coffee or cold press new age juicing spot. The number of Internet squatters with their lap tops and note pads who don’t really care about the coffee or understand juicing tells you this place isn’t totally under the radar but with validated parking and free wi-​fi this is a terrific day-​time place to unwind and chill.
For coffee and espresso they have a Blue Tree blend made by Honolulu Coffee Company. It is alright. I prefer their wonderful chai latte with housemade almond milk, no sweetener needed. The raw almond milk has date and vanilla added giving it a nice rounded nutty flavor. You can have a really good almond milk cappuccino here — they’ll patiently steam a nice foam so you can even get it very dry, which is very rare to see. There is complimentary fruit infused water to clear your palate before you sip your drink, and if you do need sweetness added to your beverage you can consider raw ground stevia.
There is a larger emphasis on their juice blends, remedy shots, and cleanse program. They have 3,5,7 day cleanse programs with a renew, seasonal, alkaline, or athletic emphasis. I’ve tried their smoothies and remedy shots but if I’m not having coffee I prefer their juice drinks.
On a good day, from your street side seats under a shaded monkeypod tree canopy you can look mauka across Kapiolani Blvd past the open athletic fields of McKinley High School and see soothing mountain and sky views of Tantalus with glimpses of Manoa Valley.

I’m currently scoping out cleanses and a co-​worker suggested I check out Blue Tree Café, which is within walking distance from our workplace. Yesterday at lunch, we went to Blue Tree to pick up some juice for lunch and to get more info on their cleanse options.
For some reason, I’ve always walked/​driven past Blue Tree but never stopped to take a look because of the word «Café». To me café usually means coffee and/​or tea, and since I’m allergic to caffeine I just always bypass them out of habit. Blue Tree is very different! Located in the Pacifica building between Chef Chai and Doraku, Blue Tree is definitely a great option for juices in the Ward area. I love that I don’t have to go downtown anymore for a mid-​day juice fix!
When we got to the counter, the guy working the register saw us craning our necks trying to read the menu above the register and handed us a printout that we could read at a normal eye level. How thoughtful! Anyway, we decided to share an acai bowl and each get a juice, mainly for sampling purposes. We ordered the regular acai bowl, and I picked the Tropic Aina green juice. After we ordered and paid, I asked about their cleansing options and he promptly handed me a brochure so I could compare their different options!
Our acai bowl was ready first, and we were both a little shocked as to how small it was. For $ 8.50 each, I thought it would have been a little bigger, but maybe the bowl deceived me. Even though it felt small, we were still able to split it nicely between the two of us. The granola was my favorite part of the bowl, and it helps that it stayed crunchy the entire time! To me, the acai was just ok… not as sweet as the Cove’s and not as acai-​heavy as Haleiwa Bowls’.
Our juices came out next. The Tropic Aina that I ordered included kale, basil, pineapple, and lilikoi. I was a little skeptical of the Tropic Aina mainly because of the basil, but I also had a feeling that the pineapple and lilikoi would be sweet enough to cancel out the basil taste. And I was right! The Tropic Aina was presented with two layers: lower layer was lilikoi, and upper layer was the greens. I was advised not to mix it, which also made me a little skeptical… but it was very sweet and not basily or bitter at all! I will definitely make the walk back to Blue Tree to try this juice (and to take a picture because the layers were really pretty!). My juice plus half an acai bowl was definitely a satisfying lunch… just the right amount so I didn’t kanak at my desk in the afternoon!
Now I haven’t decided whether I want to do Blue Tree’s cleanse or go somewhere else, but I didn’t really see any info about the pricing on Unilocal so I figured I’d do the rest of you a favor and list their options here. They have 4 options:
–Renew, $ 45.99/day (beginner)
–Seasonal, $ 45.99/day (intermediate)
–Athletic, $ 54.99/day (intermediate/​advanced)
–Alkaline, $ 54.99/day (advanced)
Each option comes in either a 3, 5, or 7 day package so you can pick however many days you want to do and go from there. The brochure didn’t say exactly how many juices you get per day, but based on their suggested 1 juice every 2 – 3 hours, I’m guessing that you get at least 5 juices per day. Their brochure also didn’t explain how pick-​up works, so you would need to contact them for more info. Their email for cleanse info is

TL;DR — small-​ish ok acai bowls, awesome Tropic Aina juice, and check them out for extended juice cleanses!

My brother-​in-​law came to visit us in Hawaii and was looking for a feel good trip. We started to juice/​smoothie twice a day since he arrived! We decided on Bluetree! We haven’t left to try any other place because we love it so much! I have now tried every smoothie except one and a few of there juices! We are on day 10 and I still look forward to my daily walks to Bluetree! Give them a shot! They have a lot of other options to consume too, we have just stuck to one part of the menu this far!

Chalk up another place that apparently does not want my money. Came in about 1pm for a quick lunch. Waited at the counter and was the only person waiting for about a minute the male worker was preoccupied facing toward the back counter. I decided to sit down since quick service did not seem to be on offer.
Soon the female worker joined the male behind the counter and conversed about social plans with their friend who arrived after I did. Since I was in a hurry I decided to wait 5 minutes. That time came and went so I left. I don’t even think the workers were aware that I was there.

Good coffee beverages, a large array of tasty drinks in general, super epic fresh liquids! Haven’t tried much of the food but between the drinks and the location/​vibe, that more than covers my needs.
Tip: Wait until the end of your visit to validate parking. If there’s a nice breeze and space, sit outside. It’s one of the closest experiences to feeling like not being in Hawaii but still in Hawaii that is out there.

Blue Tree Café was my favorite place to study during this past few weeks! Free validated parking in the building, hooray! Free wifi, thank you! Delicious juice concoctions (I tried and loved the Perfect Start) and coffee, yes please. Also, a variety of delicious snacks — e.g. GF pastries that are actually edible, and a tofu musubi that makes you want to buy two and not share. I love the comfy seats, and homey feel. The baristas are funny and nice too. Plus, they play great music too!!! Hooray Blue Tree!

I had just finished hot yoga and in need of something healthy and flavorful. A few days ago, I had walked by blue tree café when I stopped into Doraku Sushi next door. When I checked in on Unilocal,I was offered ten percent off on any purchase. SWEET!
The menu was extensive. There was smoothies, coffee, elixirs, raw freshly pressed juices, salads, scones, and brownies. I was contemplating on ordering a café latté, as I read that they make their own almond milk! Also the coffee beans that are used are Hawaiian grown, and their ingredients are organic. Yea!
I did stare at their steroid brownie for some time.: sigh: next time… The café is a great spot to study, get together with friends on comfortable couches, and grabbing healthy foods after a workout. Its clean and the employees are really nice.
I ordered a 12oz metabolize drink that consisted of carrot, celery, spinach, apple, lemon, lime, and cinnamon. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so healthy lol. I honestly was thinking of ordering a kombucha elixir. I had read somewhere in a tip to be near a bathroom after consuming one. Lol. So being that it was raw and strong, and I do enjoy a good cleanser to detoxify my body, I decided to wait on it.
My metabolize drink was tasty. The carrots rose to the top of my drink making it creamy. I felt a strong biting taste of the lemon, lime, cinnamon, and apple. For a 12oz beverage of this type the price was almost 8 buckaroos.
I did revisit and this time ordered the banana nut muffin. I had high hopes and the young lady was able to heat it up. I took a bite and It was extremely dry. The nuts were good, but I bet it was just a bad batch. I’ll still come back and try their other desserts lol.
I revisited again and ordered the kombacha elixir. It’s organic, raw and living. It was very strong, tangy and tart. It was hard for me to take a simple sip without making a face that said, «what am I drinking»?! Well not everything healthy tastes good, but if it cleans me out, I’ll be the first person on line.
Being healthy does have a price tag on it lol. I’m going to try that homemade almond milk!

I’m scared to review this place because I love it so much and don’t want it to get super crowded…
My first ever Unilocal event was at Blue Tree Café. I was awkward and shy, and I met the crazies of Unilocal,many of whom would turn into some really good friends. Because of that, it will always have a special place in my heart. But beyond that…
This place is just seriously awesome. They have vegan and vegetarian food, and their juices are just awesome. They serve kombucha, smoothies, coffee drinks, and much much more.
My favorites are the blue tree latte (which is made with their HOMEMADE ALMOND MILK), the vegan fake spam musubi, and the blue tree smoothie (but I sub out the chocolate protein for vanilla).
The staff is AMAZING. They are always fun, funny, witty, and very much care about your experience. Love them.
You can either street park on kapiolani on times when you’re allowed, or pull in the parking next to chef chai. Grab a ticket, which they’ll validate for free parking.
Also, there is a Unilocal deal for 10% off, once you check in. Don’t forget to do that, and please enjoy one of my favorite places ever!

Blue tree café is such a hipster place with the bikes hanging on the wall, and mixed pieces of furniture. They have a great variety of smoothies (I love the very verde smoothie, it’s a green drink that’s so refreshing.) I’m a sucker for their coffee too. The blue tree blend is magical, & gives you that boost to finish your paper or work you need to complete.
The workers are super friendly, & would answer whatever question you have. For the past 2 years, I discovered them & I remain a loyal fan of their healthy smoothies. Even if it’s $ 7 – 8 for a 20oz. I think their acai bowl is quite tasty too, but I rather have their smoothies.
If you get here early enough then you get to try their sandwiches and soups. Whenever I swing around past 4pm, they tend to run out of their solid food.
It’s pretty cold for me, so I usually bring a jacket when I study. I also order a few hot coffees or teas to stay warm.

My bestie and I came here to study on a Thursday afternoon.
The place is super cool. A good amount of outlets and super comfortable seating with an extremely cool vibe.
The staff was super friendly!
We bought a bowl of tomato basil soup, a sandwich, a Blue Tree Blend smoothie, and an iced tea.
The tomato basil was AH-​MAZE-​ING! It was so flavorful and HEARTY! One of the best tomato basil soups I’ve had!
The sandwich was actually really good! Different, delicious, and refreshing!
The Blue Tree Blend smoothie was super good! Fresh, delicious, and smoothe. No grit.
The iced tea was the most disappointing. It didn’t taste bad, but it wasn’t very impressive.
Overall, I gave this place 5 stars because everything was delicious and this place is great to study and relax.

I love coming here to chill or get work done. They have healthy drinks here! Fresh pressed juices, kombucha, coconut water, almond milk, smoothies, fruit infused water, etc. Of course they also have coffee and tea. They don’t have as much food here, but they do have a couple goodies such as sandwiches and pastries and cookies. I love the environment here; it’s very laid back and cool! Staff is really friendly! Definitely give this place a chance — it’s especially great for healthy foodies like me! :)
I also would like to add that they have some outlets here! Surprisingly a lot of places (including the library?! Random I know) don’t seem to have any. So it’s a great place to work on your laptop. They also play cool music!

I’ve been coming to Blue Tree pretty consistently for the last month or so. Essentially everything on their menu is made from scratch– chai lattes, acai bowls, kombucha, etc. You name it, they’ve got an all-​natural, ultra healthy recipe.
In addition to the amazing smoothies/​food, the employees are SO sweet and welcoming, and always ready to give you a good recommendation or just chat about life.
The aesthetic is a seamless mesh of sleek modernity and humble antiquity, making for a beautiful place to get work done. They’ve got wifi, outlets, and background music that ranges from 70’s rock to the latest electronic chart-​toppers. Best café around without a question.

You can definitely tell you’re «OLD» when you come here. The furniture nostalgically familiar (mid-​century modern) and the music is much too loud. Here, all things old become «new» again. At an age where going green and re-​use, re-​cycle and/​or upcycle is the mantra — Blue Tree Café is a hip place to be.
For me, I love the parking (free with validation and in a fuss-​free parking structure), the scones are delish (I personally love the strawberry scone warmed up) and the smoothies are yummy. I’m not one for smoothies but if you hadn’t told me it was healthy, I wouldn’t have noticed. I like the coffee here — not burnt or stale. Ask for freshly made almond milk for your coffee — it tastes fresher. I’ve personally have made my own almond milk in the past and I ask for it wherever it is available — this is one of those rare places that does it fresh.
My one and only qualm about this place is that it is much too loud to carry on a conversation with someone sitting beside you. Perhaps the owners designed it this way — mid-​modern décor, loud music for the elderly customer who may be hearing impaired but still enjoy the muffled «loud» music. Or perhaps it’s to capture the coffee/​smoothie aficionado who enjoys vegan eats, green décor and hip/​trendy loud music. Whatever category you fall into, this is a smooth place to kick back.
If the inside is too loud and you’ve «AMENED» my qualm, step outside and enjoy the outdoor seating. The seating options are good and any traffic noises are dulled in comparison to the indoor music. Being outside was quite enjoyable and I was able to carry on a conversation without losing my voice.

I’m, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo satisfied. I stopped here to wake myself up and get refreshed. I tried the Tropical Midori, which I could choose to put either spinach or kale. I chose spinach, and waited for like a minute, and it was ready. The moment I sipped it… Oh my, what a fresh juice it was! The juice itself was green, but had a strong accent of pineapples. I just felt that yes, I am in Hawaii!
I was there for like an hour doing some PC work, but the staffs were so nice and let me taste some other juice for 3 times! Such a nice place. Definitely going back.

I took my vegetarian bestie here because I heard they make faux spam (tofu) musubi. She also got a curry wrap and butternut squash soup. I got a quiche and the soup. We were both pleasantly surprised that everything was absolutely delicious! It was all fresh and healthy, but still extremely flavorful. I will try to come here regularly. I also liked the vibe and there was flavored water available for free for those dining in. They validate parking, which is nice. Service was good too, so I’m definitely a fan of this place.

I’m so happy I found this gem on Unilocal!I tried the green glow juice and added vanilla protein and green apple… Can I just say AMAZING! Legit one of the best juices I’ve ever had. And I drink a lot of juice haha! I also tried the kale salad which was super tasty and the Vegas cookie dough ball… That little guy was OUT OF THIS WORLD GREAT! It took everything inside of me not to buy all of them n take them

We stopped in here for a quick drink and a place that actually had outlets for our laptops… I know, what? Yes we had been at another coffee spot with NO outlets. I didn’t even know that was a «thing.» It was meant to be because Blue Tree was a superRad place to work and sip. Speaking of drinks. I was getting ready to hop on a plane so I figured coffee wasn’t a good choice (I get those pre-​flight jitters.) I was told that the juice was really good. I couldn’t decide on my own because there were just too many flavors so I asked for help from the barista. He asked questions so that he could narrow it down. He suggested «Super Juice» and I think that was all it took… Pineapple, kale, spinach, ginger, apple and celery. Yes please. They whipped it up while I sat down and got back to work.
It only took a few minutes and the green juice was happily ready for consumption. Have you ever had those moments when you drink something so delicious that it makes you feel good from the outside in? Super juice indeed. The ginger gave it just enough kick to have some spice. It was so good.
Clean, friendly helpful staff, room for laptops and chargers and drinks that make you feel super. I’m a fan. :)

Took some time for my wife to get me in here, but I’m glad she did. It really is great!
The coffee is not only tasty, but it gets the job done. Unlike Starbucks, who’s coffee fails to get me going through the hour, Blue Tree’s coffee helps keep me going through easily for hours. I don’t need a «Venti» when any 12oz from Blue Tree can do the job 10x’s better.
Now, what brought me into Blue Tree was their Cleanses. My wife and I did the 5-​day Renew Cleanse. No food or alcohol, and light (or no) exercise for five days. It was trying at times, but not horrible or impossible. Very happy we did it, and plan to do it again next year. Six drinks, drank every 2 – 3 hours keep you feeling full (don’t forget to drink water!) The drinks are very tasty, and quite filling. I still go in for my favorite from the lot, Honey Badger!
I’m not the type to get a coffee and hang out in the shoppe, but if you are you’ll enjoy this spot. Spacious, but cozy, this place is clean, comfortable, and charming if you need a place to work on a project.
The staff is great. Friendly and playful, but informative and professional!

I just LOVE the ambiance here at Blue Tree Café! The staff is so friendly, the second-​hand furniture + décor is adorable, and of course, their menu items are delicious!
I’m kind of boring when it comes to ordering drinks at a café so I normally just order a chai tea latte (my absolute favorite anywhere) whenever I’m here. BUT, at Blue Tree you have the option to substitute regular milk for their almond milk. So I tried it in my drink and it did not disappoint! SUPER YUMMY!
This is the perfect place to study/​work either inside or outside (where they have a nice patio and great outdoor seating).
I’m always looking for an excuse to drive into town to get work done here and enjoy a coffee treat!

I loved this café the moment I stepped foot inside! The atmosphere is great and it’s the perfect place for studying or even catching up with some friends. I can thank my cousin Emi for showing me this yummy hot spot! The furniture perfectly matched this little café. I loved the vibe it gave off and what’s even more awesome is that all of the furniture is used second hand. You’d never be able to tell! The artwork is so interesting and unique that it really makes this café pop!
There were so many choices on the menu that I had such a hard time deciding what to order. Our lovely barista, Josh, helped me decide on getting the Blue Tree Latte. It’s made with almond milk and it was so yummy and sweet! Wasn’t disappointed.
I definitely need to come back to try some of their elixirs and detoxes. They all looked so yummy! (I love juices and kombucha drinks:) this place is the perfect study spot if you need someplace chill to get some work done. I will be coming here a lot more often now that I know about it!

I got my acai bowl fix here today. I had the blue tree acai bowl with almond milk.
Likes
1.) Acai Bowl –First off, I’m a big fan of almond milk so that was a plus for me. The taste of the acai bowl was good though. Not my favorites but I would say that its on par with some of the better places I’ve had. The price and quantity was also on par with what id expect to pay. All in all I’d say it was a really good acai bowl.
2.) Free parking — There is $ 3 valet parking in the structure which is free when you have your ticket validated at Blue Tree.
3.) Décor — The place is clean and refreshing. They have a nice set up inside where you feel comfortable eating at.
4.) Watermelon Water — On the side there is a container filled with water and sliced watermelons. I liked the combination of the fruit with water. It added a nice touch of class to the spot.
Dislikes
1.) Acai Bowl Presentation — I was a little disappointed to get my acai bowl in a foam bowl. I was like where the heck is my nice bowl? I mean do I have to tell them i’m eating in? Shouldn’t they ask me that question? That was a huuge let down for me as presentation is very important to me.
2.) Chicken Curry Wrap — I paid almost 10 dollars for a tiny little wrap that was no larger that a McDonalds wrap. The taste was ok but definitely not worth the price. I felt like I was being ripped off. Even priced at $ 6 would be a stretch! Unfortunately for me, I was very hungry and that was the only thing left on the menu that had meat!

Well never fun to be working on a holiday but if you have to you might as well have a good lunch.
Straight thuggin Alan L. took me to Blue Tree Café and we were immediately greeted by an awesomely friendly, positive, and knowledgeable Blue Tree ambassador who had blue hair. Very fitting and fun.
We both got the quinoa bowl and watermelon juice. The WM Juice was really refreshing and we watched them make it fresh from a pretty sweet steam punk juicer. The quinoa bowl was loaded with roasted veggies and was really filling. To top it off I splurged and had the gluten free chocolate chip cookie which they oven warmed for me which really made it oh so good. I need that cookie to be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless-​mind erased as BTC is within walking distance of work… Alan opted for the Zuke bread which looked pretty good.
After conquering our watermelon juice we filled up our cups with the Strawberry/​cucumber water that they had out. Really nice and refreshing.

Ok, I can’t get enough of blue tree. Awesome music, friendly staff and love everything on the menu.
I’ll be trying their cleanse this week so I’ll give another update.
